Roland Pacheco Obituary
Roland Pacheco's pickup line when he met Annie Guerrero eight years ago was, "What's the matter with you?"
He asked it softly, but it was still a bold question to ask a stranger. They were both teenagers hanging out with their respective groups of friends when he spied her hanging back on a bustling corner a couple of blocks away from Washington Square Park.
"Nothing," Ms. Guerrero recalled saying. "I'm just tired. And we just started talking."
The meeting sparked a fine romance. Now, eight years later, they were engaged to be married and have a 2 1/2-year-old son, Ryan.
Mr. Pacheco, 26, was a pretty good catch, Ms. Guerrero said. He was an employee of Alliance Consulting on the 102nd floor of 1 World Trade Center. Ms. Guerrero is disconsolate that there will never be a wedding. They had other plans: they were going to open a lounge together on the West Side.
"He was so outgoing and happy," Ms. Guerrero said. "I wish he had gone in later."

Roland, may you forever RIP. We worked together for a short while when you worked for Transit and I for the DA's Office in Brooklyn. You were a great guy and we shared a bunch of laughs together. I lived in Florida during that time and kept you, and your family in my thoughts. You remember when you asked me "how do you know if a person made it in life?" My Dear Roland I went to see you at the memorial today i prayed that you were in the grace and comfort of God, that when Dinah or your mom or brothers are hurting that you shine your smile down on them. I saw your mom a few months ago and although her pain is ever present she speaks your name with so much love and pride. we miss you Roland. Well cuz it's been 10 years. I still remeber you as the quiet little boy in a clan of 5. Hard to believe but true. I can honestly say this because I took care of you and your brothers when you were little. From the time you were born you brightened up every room with your smile. I did not know him , but I was reading the tributes in conjuction w/ the horrible anniversary coming up. I saw the tragedies on my tv in kansas city that day. Dear Roland, I looked at the news to watch and pay my respect for the lost. I was placing something in my closet with my back turned from the tv, and then I heard it. They said your name.. I turned quickly and there was your face. I ran to the computer to look. And this page is what I found. I was in shock. I sat and then started remembering our days in Jr. High School in Brooklyn. I was so scared to go to that school in Fort Greene area. We were 12yrs old. Then I had to change school. It was a sad day for both of us. We said our Good Bye and remained friends. We would see each other on the street and you introduced me to your Dad. I always wondered if I would ever see you again when I went to Park Slope. But I guess my answer came today... I am so sorry I did not know you were one of the Victims in 9/11. I keep a lot of funny memories of us. I am glad to have known you and glad that I made you smile. It's been a while, almost 8 years since your passing and memories of you in my mind are still clear as day. We(friends & family)still gather at the park (38's) every 9/11 we light candles and pray in honor of your memory, your presence is felt, so inside I know you're okay. Heard a song on the radio tonight that reminded me of you and that day when we laid you to rest, it was hard losing you, you were one of the good ones, the best. I thank you for your friendship, kindness, and all the laughter and great memories shared, it's impossible to not wonder what if your life had been spared. Roland i am just amazed at how you loved. Some of us go through life, and we love, but never a love that last even after death. Annie probably feels you near her all the time , she probably even talks to you. You are always at Rian's, and Johanna's side. You are always there.

Roland, keep all of our kids in your sight....you are our ANGEL. Boy misses you more than you can imagine - and he knows you still got this back!!! Mama misses her son...she loved you so much - She always visits you and even takes Jordan...so when we pass a Cemetery, Jordan always say, "Mom, my Tio lives there" !!!

Into a new life they will be born.
Do not look for them at the gravesite.
They are somewhere else radiating their beautiful light.
They have gone to a new world where there is no darkness, no pain.

HI ROLAND IT'S BEEN A WHILE THAT I HAVEN'T WRITTEN BUT THERE NOT A DAY THAT GOES BY THAT I THINK OF YOU. IT GOING ON TO BE 7 YEARS SINCE THAT UGLY DAY BUT I KNOW THAT YOU ARE AT PEACE. I am your cousin Henry Pacheco. I never met you but I went to your funeral. I am sorry we never got to meet. I heard pretty cool things about you in New York and also in Puerto Rico. We have a big family and I haven't met everyone yet. I met some family members in Guayanilla, PR. I am the son of Eddie Pacheco. My prayers are with your family. Roland, you are dearly missed. I am a teacher now...this morning the principal played clips of news reports as the events of 911 unfolded. It was followed by the national anthem. The entire school was silent for many minutes. I spoke of you to my students; I told them I lost a friend. I cried...just like last year and the year before, and the year before that. I thought of you and prayed for you and your family. I hope you are at peace.

6 Long years. So much has happened, so much has changed. The only thing that remains is that we miss u. Your kind spirit your love of life and everything in it. Johanna has such a hard day on this cruel day which is now called 911. To us it was a day where our family lost our back bone where Ryan lost simple and pure love, where Johanna lost her dad she never had and I lost wow everything!! I have been blessed and live a wonderful life right now one that I know that you are happy with. We think of u all day everyday. Blessssss u.
