Luis Jimenez Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 19, 2001.
Minding the Details
By the end of the year, Luis Jimenez Jr. was planning to be a married man on his way to graduate school. Everything seemed to be adding up for Mr. Jimenez, a 25- year-old Marsh & McLennan accountant who lived in Corona, Queens. As a boy, he was so bent on a future in finance that he would go to the grocery store with his parents and figure up the bill on his little wrist calculator before the shopping was done.

The details were everything. He couldn't propose on just any day, so he set his girlfriend's birthday in November as the moment to pop the question. Two weeks before the attack on the World Trade Center, he asked her parents' permission and started laying plans to buy the perfect ring.

"When he was a boy, 10, he told me, 'Daddy, I want to be an independent man, to take care of myself,' " said Mr. Jimenez's father, Luis Sr. "He reached his dream. He made his family so happy. In every room, there is a picture of him. He was a son to be proud of."

Luis, I couldn't believe it when they told me. I remember the first day we met and you took me to Mike's and I bought my first chain. From planning Microsoft classes, to just talking about life, it was an amazing experience. Last thing I told you was merry Christmas and wish I could've said more. Rest In Paradise brother.

To the family of Luis Jimenez, Jr. - I live in Baltimore MD. Every September, we have a community fair where local vendors line the street with tables, the streets are closed off, and the police and firemen participate. It is a great family day. This year it was held on September 10. For many blocks around the street closing, all the sidewalks were lined with small American flags stuck in the ground. Each flag had a small cardboard star attached to the flag stick with a twisty tie. I was taking a walk on Sunday, 9/11/16, and I saw the one of the stars had come loose and was lying in the grass. As soon as I picked it up and saw the name on it (Luis Jimenez, Jr.) I knew at once that it was the name of a 9/11 victim, and that I wanted to get in touch with that person's family. I just want you to know that neighborhoods, people, fire departments around the country, STILL, to this day, remember your Luis and pay honor and tribute to him. May God continue to give you His peace and joy in your hearts, as you live with all the wonderful memories you have for your precious Luis. I am truly sorry for your loss, but I thank you for sharing him with the entire nation. God bless you always.

Although Luis and I never spoke we would often take the train together at 111 Roosevelt in Corona, I remember how he was always in a suit for work while I was on my way to college, he would always have a smile on his face every single morning, one day we both got off at the last stop of the E train which is World trade and I thought to myself "wow, he must work here at the world trade", I didn't think anymore about it until 9/11, I prayed to god that somehow he was ok until I saw his mother and girlfriend on tv asking if anyone has seen him, my heart broken for his family, As always I pray for the Jimenez family for their lost on such a great person who's life was cut too short, we will never forget you and will continue to remember what a wonderful person your were. May god bless.

I went to Louis Armstrong with Luis and Francis Lewis. He was always so nice. When I read of his passing on 9/11 and how well his life was going, I was heartbroken. I have never forgotten him. I think of him often. He was a big part of me changing my own life and going for the career I always wanted. He was a great person and still holds a place in my heart.

I never met Luis but went to school with his brother Jimmy and was very saddened when I heard of his loss back in 2001. I always pray for the Jimenez family to give them strength from their terrible loss. He is in heaven with Our Creator.

I will never forget you Luis. On the basketball court we were bitter rivals. We argued and scratched and clawed our way to victory. Never affected us off the court. You were my older brothers friend but never treated me like a kid. We talked about wrestling, baseball, girls, and our future just life in general. You always gave me good advice and were a dear friend. We were all so proud of you watching you live out your dreams Luis. I only hope one day there is a hoop up in heaven where me and my friend could fight lol then talk about life. Miss you Luis R.I.P.

May God Bless you Luis, although I didn't know you this morning I woke dreaming about the World Trade Center and the name "Jimenez". Something deep in my heart told me that I needed to pray for you and for everyone that lost their life on 9/11. “May God bless you and your loves as well as everyone from 9/11”. My heart is with you all.

I went to high school with Luis and dated him for a bit. I never wanted to look up Luis's name because I was afraid of the result. I only knew he worked in the towers from coincidence one year picking up my cousin from work and saw him coming out of this building. My cousin ended up changing jobs, but when 911 occured, I thought immediately about Luis. I thought ..I hope he was just there for a meeting, or got out. Today years later I finally got the nerve to look it up. I am so sorry for your loss. I pray for his parents, family, fiance and friends. I wish I could have extended this much earlier, and can only hope that God has mended your grieving and has enlightened your heart. I know for sure that Luis is with him. Luis was a wonderful guy, sweet, honest, hardworking and a great student. He was a friend, and although years have passed I still remember him as if it were yesterday.

Jimmy, I am very sorry for your loss.

With Warm thoughts,

Yvette

I was there when he was a little baby; I help once or twice his oldest brother baby-sit. His gray-blue eyes were one of the many attractions he owned, his way of getting along with people was charismatic. He was well cultured and independent; he was determined and positive about the future. His devotion to his family was showing what kind of husband/father he was going to be. He will always have a place in my heart and my prayers.

I met Luis in 1994. It was then that he met and fell in love with my best friend, Margie. They had a relationship that every girl dreamed of. Through this relationship, came a wonderful friendship. He would come to my house and watch the boxing matches with us as well as baseball with my mother. Of course with his bebs, Margie. Those two were inseparable. It has been two years now and it still hurts just the same. He was a great person and is truly missed.

I never met Luis, but I stood next to his obviously very loving family at yesterday's memorial at Ground Zero where I went to mourn the loss of my brother Wayne Hobson. I remember constantly glancing at Luis' picture & feeling so very sad at the senseless loss of life - how young & handsome Luis was - and a man full of integrity, I found out from reading the tribute - probably a joy to his parents. God Bless you, Luis & his family - you'll be in my prayers.

I had the pleasure of meeting Luis at Queens College through my dear friends, Wil and Juan Carlos. He was a gentleman, kind and funny. A great memory that I have of Luis was those amazing and beautiful eyes he had. And also his obession with his blue car. The car was his girl. After we graduated, I had bumped into Luis on the train on our way to work in the mornings. It was great catching up with him. I know he is gone, but in spirit he is still here. Q' dios te bendiga.

I met Luis back in high school and remember how caring and sweet he was with everyone. You could always talk to him about anything and he would be there for you. I lost contact with him after that and saw him once again about a year ago when he went to fix his car at the shop I worked at. He was a wonderful person and I am sad to see that this world has lost him.My deepest condolences to his family and his brother Jimmy. My prayers are always with you.

Luis was all around a beautiful person! From his stunning green eyes, to his ability to always make those close to him feel special. I alway's thought of him as an extended family member and person that Dino and I could without a doubt depend on.

I will never forget the countless times he practiced his new dance moves on me; the way he pinched my cheeks; our trip to D.R.; the "baby within" that came out on the banana boat; the way he smiled; our first argument and countless other things.

It's been 7 months now and I still feel like he is just on vacation. It is difficult to conceive that we will not be hanging out anymore.

Although it is hard to see anything positive come from such a tragedy, I must say that for me something has. I had only met Luis's mother once before this and I feel that we have really gotten close since then. She is a beautiful woman and I can see where Luis got alot of his qualities from.

I feel as though I have written too much, but these are words that come from my heart. We think about him all the time and I just wanted to share.

I met Luis about four years ago through one of his college mates,Diana.

Just this past May , we were hanging out with his friends and my friends in SOuth Beach, Miami. He seemed to be so "on top of things" and it was clear that he had a bright future ahead of him. I remember his beautiful green eyes and his lively ways. He always had a way with the ladies.

I know that Luis is now in a better place , looking down on his family and friends, who also love him deeply.

I attended the Memorial Mass held in QUeens along with Diana,my sister and my friend Cindy. It was a very sad moment to see his picture standing by the alter.

Again, my condolences to the family y que Dios lo bendiga.

We are very sorry for your loss of Luis. May his life and love live on in those who love him. Our hearts cry with you.

America Cries

We see your sorrow-

and our hearts cry....

We can not erase your pain

but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-

-the American people-

are beside you.

We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,

the strength that gives you courage,

and the words to lighten your spirits.

And when we are left speechless

may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts

to ease your sorrow.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-

-the American people-

face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
