Leobardo Pascual Obituary
It had been four years since Leobardo Lopez Pascual had seen his wife and four children. That was when Mr. Pascual left them on the family farm in a small town in Puebla, Mexico for the trek north to New York.
It wasn't long before he was working the morning shift in the kitchen of Windows on the World. Stretching his money as far as he could, he lived with a co-worker and his family in a one-bedroom apartment in Hunts Point, the Bronx. He wired money to his wife every week, and parcels of clothes and shoes three or four times a year.
Every now and then Mr. Pascual, 41, received envelopes stuffed with photographs; it was how he watched his children grow up. He sent home a picture a couple of years ago too: He is sitting in a ferry on the way to see the Statue of Liberty. That's where he took his sisters when they were visiting from Mexico. He took them to his restaurant, too.

To Leobardo's family: I would like you to know that last year, at Sunday Mass, a basket was passed around with names on little slips of paper. I chose Leobardo's and put it in my prayer book. Ever since then I have prayed for Leobardo each time I open my prayer book, that he may be at peace and that his family be comforted. I hope this will be of some comfort to his family.
