Today is Oct 19,2006 and while at work I came across the picture of your husband. I work for Marsh in Iowa City. When that tragic day struck, we were all devastated here in our office. I opened the picture and read about your husband's car and also your family. The reason I am writing this in your book is because he had such a beautiful smile and then when I read he just started working for Marsh, I thought I would let you know that he looks like he was a wonderful father and husband. He has a very kind face and I wanted you to know how sorry I felt. Please accept my sympathy and I will continue to pray for you and your fanily.May you have a blessed day.

Dear Aiken Family, I think of Terrance every year when 9-11 repeats it's date. I did not know Terrance personally and I was in Oregon at the time. However, I was horrified that morning as I exited from the shower and my husband yelled “turn on Fox News…something horrible has happened”. I stayed home from work that day. Terrance was a cohort. He, my husband and I all worked as computer consultants for the same company; PGA. His consulting company was a part of PGA. After the original 9-11, the company he worked for featured a picture of him and his family along with a brief story about him. About his warm smile and about how hard working he was and about how the people who worked for him liked him. I wish I had known him too. But somehow, in this universe God made, maybe I do know him somehow. I prayed for his family and their loss and continue to do so each year and will until the day I die. 9-11 brought changes to just about everyone. We are in Texas now. I have consulted in 5 different places since 9-11 and each year I write Terrance's name on the white board or make a sign and hang it outside my cubicle. I will do the same this again this year and as I do, I will tell everyone how this tragedy left his wife and three beautiful children without him. I can't help but think how the youngest one will have trouble remembering daddy. Even the older ones over time...their memories may fade. It pains my heart as a mother. I hope the lives of the family are returning to some kind or normalcy but I know it will never be the same for them. 9-11 meant it would never be the same again for the world too though. In closing, you will always have my thoughts and prayers. God Bless, Jo Hargis Keller, Texas

Please know that you are not alone. God knows your deepest sorrow and will help you. Pray to him often. He will listen and you will receive comfort. Revelation 21: 4 has always been a comfort to me. It reads: And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.

Dear Aiken Family:
I was horrified to hear about Terrance being killed as a result of the WTC Tragedy. I bumped into a high school friend who gave me the news. We all went to New Utrecht together and Terrance was a year behind us. Terrance was smart, funny and a talented athlete. His smile and laugh is what I will remember most. I came home today, dug out my yearbook, and found that he signed it. He wrote, "To Tracy, I feel bad because you're leaving. You were like the sister I never had, someone to pick on, call names, but I still love. Take care and keep in touch." He signed it "Terrance (THE Jammaster) Aiken." Too funny and too sad. I really did love Terrance...he was my brother and friend. My deepest condolences to us all.

My regards and condolences to the family and friends of Terrance Aiken. Reading about him was heartwarming, he sounded like such a good person, happy with his life and making progress toward his goals. You have my deepest sympathy for your loss. Judging from the description of his character I am sure that all who knew him have memories on which to reflect. Reflect on the good times and those memories will always warm your hearts. You have my deepest sympathy. Psalms 34:18 says "God is near to those broken at heart, and those crushed in spirit, he saves" He will help you and all who loved him, to endure.

Dear Aiken Fammily,
I wear a memorial I.D. bracelet on my right wrist that has Terrance's name inscribed on the inside. It is worn every day so that his name will not be forgotten. I drew his name as part of a memorial service that my parish, St. Teresa of Avila, held on the first year anniversary of the tragey of 9/11/2001. At age 67, I consider it a priveledge and will pass the bracelet on to my 35 year old son, Timothy when I go home to God.
You and he are in my prayers.

Terrance,
I was your basketball coach at WSC in 1990. Your smile was so bright, your personality so warm, your laugh so contagious, and your impression so lasting. There has been a hole in my heart since I heard you were in the WTC on that awful day. Kim, I know God and Terrance will always be watching over you and the children and you have the love and prayers of a lot of people from Worcester who were touched by Terrance during his brief time there.
Goodbye, friend.

I am a recruiter (headhunter) and was working with Terrance on a job opportunity just prior to Sep. 11, 2001. I first met him about two months before the attacks and last heard from him at the end of August. He said he wanted to get a night-shift IT position and the one I had was a day job, so we never followed through beyond the initial discussions. I remember Terrence as a bright, vibrant young man with a lot to offer the world. Like me, he was an avid basketball player and fan, and he even played professionally in Asia for a while. He was very excited about being a father and just had new baby that summer. I couldn't believe it when I saw his name on the list of missing persons at the WTC. I have often wondered if things could have been different for him if he had needed a day job and went to work for my client in Midtown instead. I feel so intensely sad for his wife and children, even though I never met them. I, too, have a young family and can't even begin to imagine what they have been through over the past year. God bless you and keep you and cause his face to shine upon you!

Terrance,
You will be missed terribly. You taught me so many things in such a short time. Staying up until 2:00am trying to fix my computer while smoking those stinky cigars will never leave my mind. I cried that morning when I realized that you IM me and I wasn't at my computer. Your words just hung there in the air, and I didn't realize that I would not be able to IM you back again.... I'm so sorry about that. Andre has your face, accompanied by that dazzling smile, and I'm sure that your looking down every day and smiling upon us. May God watch you Brother, cause you deserve it! I miss you, friend. P.S. Yes, it would have been.

January 13, 2002
I had the pleasure of working with Terrance for several months while living in New York in 2000.
To the best of my knowledge, Terrance is the only person that I personally knew who was a victim of the horrible tragedy that befell the world on September 11.
I heard through friends that Terrance was in the WTC and didn't make it out, but this tribute to the victims is the first time I have seen his name appear.
My heart aches for and my deepest sympathies go out to the family and friends of Terrance. I know from the few times we spoke about it that Terrance was a devoted and loving father.
Terrance was a great guy. Easy to talk to and a lover of life.
I believe that when we pass we live on through the legacy that we left behind. I hope that Terrance's memory will live on through the lives of his children and through the memory that all who knew him will forever possess.

We are very sorry for your loss of Terrance. May warm memories of yesterday lighten the pain of today. Our hearts cry with you.
America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
