I knew Winston Grant as a boy growing up in Westbury Lane, Belmont, Port-of-Spain, Trinidad & Tobago. As I recall, he had an older brother and a sister. The family left Belmont and moved to another part of the city and I lost track of them. Then a few weeks after the tragedy, I learned Winston was one of the victims of that unspeakable occurrence. I remember Winston as a boy who always had a smile and was kind to the other children in the lane. I never had to the opportunity to meet him as an adult before he migrated to the US. I extend my sympathy to his family, loved ones and friends. His soul resides in heaven and he will always be remembered for the wonderful human that he was: taken away far too early in this life. May his soul forever Rest In Peace.

It's been a while now. Not a day goes by that you are not thought of. Your kindness and gentle smile will always be remembered. I read my daughter's story, when she was so young and tried to put it in words, how she missed seeing you at the train station. Asked me over & over, why we couldn't pick the building up & free you. RIP. love u always. Stephne & Lauren

Yesterday I watched the memorial and heard the name of this great man as I listen for it every year. I always look for the family as I have seen them over the years giving tribute to his life. Mr. Grant was the kindest man I have ever met and I am a better person for having encountered he and his beautiful wife Joyce and adoring family. Ever so briefly did I know them but still, the goodness in him shone brightly. I'm so pleased to read these entries and be able to post in his honor. My prayers for your family and all of victims and their families will never cease. Nor will I ever forget the kind soul I was blessed to meet. RIP and angels around you always!

I was just a neighbor and fellow commuter who crossed Winston's path for a few years, but I could tell he was a nice man - always said hello, always had a smile and kind word. I think of him and your family every year and can only imagine how much you must miss him.

winston is a very low key person. He worked with us in the BCBS DATA CENTER FOR 2 years and prior to him moving back to WTC ..he sat down and chat with every one as if he is saying Good Bye and two weeks after that 9/11 happened. When the first plane hit the tower. He was on my mind and was planning to call him..but......... My GOD GIVE HIM ETERNAL PEACE

This entry goes to the family of Winston Aurthor Grant. I'm not sure you have heard about the requiem sang on September 11th but hopefully you have. (In everytime zone at 8:46 Am. Choirs sang it to remember those lost) Well there were about 6 high schools in the world doing it. The rest were professional choirs. But I was in the group of the High schoolers. I'm in 9th grade and we started learning this on the first day of school so we could be apart of this incrediable event. What I'm getting at is every person in the world got a name to remember and wear on a pin while they were singing. I was lucky enough to get Winston's name. There wasn't much said about who he was and where he was when this tradegy happened, but from reading responses to this guest book has shown me he was a very loved man. On September 11th before our performance I prayed for you(the family of Winston). I prayed that God would give you the strength to get through this. God bless you.

Lots of Love,

~Chrissy~

Though I've never met Mr. Grant or any of the victims of 9/11, we were all given individuals to pray for this past Wednesday. After reading all the messages before mine, I feel as though he was loved and will indeed not be forgotten. May God watch over Mr. Grant and his family, and be their comfort forever.

Our heartfelt sympathy to the Grant Family. We did not hear about what happened to Winston until Sunday (Sept.8th, 2002), and were shocked and sadden by the news. May God bless you all and we will keep you in our prayers.

Winston was known as Brother Grant to me, and he was a "brother to many; always giving of himself. The good things about him are to numberous to mention. However, he left a wonderful legacy of his life reflected in his wife, Joyce and his children. He will always be in our hearts, and they will always be in our prayers.

Winston and I worked side-by-side for more than ten years. I admired him so much. He taught me everything I know about doing the budget and never feared that one day I might be the person to take his job, because that was the type of person he was whatever he did he always put his best foot forward. He always said Annie don't worry, just put your worries in God's hands and whatever plans he has for you will happen. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about being able to talk to him about my good times, my problems, my family and my aspirations. To his wife Joyce he loved you more than life itself, I know because we always talked about you and his family daily.Remember that God always take the Angels and if there was ever an Angel Winston earned his wings right here on earth.

During my last five or six with Empire, I worked with Winston just about every day. It was my pleasure to know him. He was a great co-worker, a wonderful friend, a gentleman and a gentle man. I miss him. Mostly I remember the laughter that he and I and others (mostly Willie and Annie) shared. They’re good memories. I think of him and his family often. I know he’s with God now and that helps ease the sorrow.

God bless you, Winston

The loss of Winston is a tremendous loss for all of us.

Winston was a very nice person to work with and he was very pleasant to be around .

He was always ready with a warm " good morning" .

Whether dealing with light issues or more serious work related problems , he was always had a calm , cool, and confident manner to him.

He was easy to talk to and discuss things with and I never heard him raise his voice or ridicule or criticize anybody.

He will be sorely missed.

America Cries

We see your sorrow-

and our hearts cry....

We can not erase your pain

but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-

-the American people-

are beside you.

We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,

the strength that gives you courage,

and the words to lighten your spirits.

And when we are left speechless

may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts

to ease your sorrow.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-

-the American people-

face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

Mr. Grant used to take the LIRR from my station. Ours is not a big station and you get to recognize the faces on the platform after a while. His was one of the smiling faces, one of the "Hi, how are you" folks. He was usually talking with a fellow commuter or two, both on the AM wait and the afternoon drop-off. He seemed like such a nice man, and I regret that I didn't have the opportunity to get to know him better.

My prayers for his family.

I never knew Mr. Grant, but I met his wonderful daughter and spoke with his devoted wife in the course of conducting business at Mr. Grant's bank. My prayers, thoughts and tears are with all of them. It would have been my honor to have met Mr. Grant. His spirit will live on in his wonderful family.

I loved Winston. He was one of the finest people I had ever met during my 19 years at Blue Cross. Winston spotted me on the 30th floor the morning of the attack and as usual gave me his warmest greeting. Since Winston was temporarily assigned to Staten Island it was rare that we got together. I am going to miss Winston. The world has lost a truly great man.
