Eugenia,
I have spent almost half my life knowing your name, but never having met you. We are, in fact, extended family-- my father, Michael, is your husband's first cousin, and myself and my family heard of your passing on September 11th. I was a senior in high school at the time, 17 years old, and, at the time, living in North Carolina.
Every year since you passed, your name always crosses my mind. I remember specifically finding and reading your name out loud my first year in college at a 9/11 memorial, a year after the attacks. I never made it back up to New York City until many years later, on a rainy day in June, the same week that the new One World Trade Center building opened in 2015. Myself, my fiance (now husband), and my young daughter visited the memorial and found your name, paying tribute to your memory. I will never forget how eerily quiet it was that day. I believe people visit that spot, where the towers once stood, and even now, 16 years later, are moved by the sheer emotion of the scene and the memory of that day. I know I was. To find your name in that space brought me some peace, and I said a silent prayer for you then.
I am sorry to say that I never met you while you were alive. However, I am so touched by the testimonials and stories shared here by so many of the people who knew and loved you. Through their memories, I feel as if I can picture your charismatic spirit, as well as your vigor and love of life and the work that you did. The world is truly at a loss without your light.
I hope these words can bring some uplifting to your family, who I'm sure is missing you every day, but especially on a day like today. I want them to know that your memory and spirit will continue to live on, and that your life and memory will continue to be remembered for generations to come. I only wish I had known you, Eugenia-- but please know you have touched my soul for eternity. Gone, but never forgotten.
Sending love from California on September 11th, 2017.

I'm finally able to look at pictures of the horror. I've been in shock. How can this hateful attack befall upon my cousin 'Jean'. She never could hurt any one. She was music, laughter, love, and beauty. This is why now I can look at the pictures. She will forever be young and loved. Hopefully soon I will visit the site. I love you, Jeannie!! Thank you for the scarfs!

Eugenia, I was lucky to attend one of your week long training sessions for J&H held in St Louis in 1997. You were a wonderful teacher but what I remember most is your sense of humor, that laugh and all of your stories. You were such a kind person and although I only knew you for a short time, I could tell that you were someone special in this world. My thoughts and prayers go to your family and know that we will never forget.

Mr. Piantieri,
My name is Migdalia and I knew your wife from the Express bus rides. She would call me by my nickname Mickey. We use to talk and laugh all the time. I miss her smile and wonderful personality. I keep her and your family in my prayers everyday. May the Lord bless you with faith, hope, peace and love.

Mrs Piantieri-
In September 2001, I had just begun my senior year at Fordham Prep and had your husband as my mentor (homeroom teacher). I can now recall being extremely nervous and uncertain as my final year of high school commenced. Through all my fears, Mr. Anthony Piantieri was there to offer guidance and help. Although I never had the opportunity to meet you personally, I feel as though I did know you, as I had your husband as one of the best teachers in my life. On this day of reflection, please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. You will not be forgotten. God Bless.

My dear friend, Eugenia. It's been a while since your passing, but I just found this website and viewed the names of those lost in the World Trade Center. I was so saddened to find you on the list of those who didn't make it. For those of you reading this, Eugenia came to our Portland, Maine office to train us on the computer. She was with us for several weeks, and I must say, we had the best times! She made learning so much fun. She was bright, funny, and beautiful. To Mr. Piantieri, I know you didn't have as long with her as you would have liked, but you must feel special to have known her. To her family, I give my sympathy, and please know what a wonderful person I think she was.

Eugenia sounds like a very caring, warm and loving person. May warm memories of times shared with her lighten the sorrow in your hearts. May Eugenia's warmth, laughter, life and love continue living in you and in all who have been touched by her life. Thank you for allowing her to touch my life today.

We see your sorrow-
and our heart's cry....
We cannot take away your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-
because we
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
the American people
face this difficult time together.

Jeanie,
Somehow, I could always relate to you- the way you treated the aunts & uncles like they were your equals. You must have felt that you were the youngest of Pa's children instead of the oldest of his grandchildren...I always enjoyed watching you break though the barriers of tradition to get at the heart of LIFE. I'm sure that wherever you're still at it! Love & miss you lots- raph

Hey Eugenia,
As the day draws to a close, this the second anniversary of your tragic death, I remember your warmth, your smile, your beautiful presence. I have a picture of you upstairs, just the way I remember you, with a gorgeous smile, and glowing eyes.
You continue to shine. I miss you.

I was fortunate to meet Eugenia through my life partner, Veronica Darmon, when we were living in California. When we moved to the east coast I was surprised with a trip, for my birthday, to NYC. Eugenia was gracious to let us stay in her apartment that weekend. I remember how wonderful I felt in her home: her warmth and passion for beauty and life displayed throughout with art on her walls, shelves and furniture. Eugenia, I hold you close to my heart, especially today, and close my eyes to see your beautiful smile. You are remembered, gentle spirit, and I send you my love.

I first met Eugenia electronically. We worked for "sister" companies and on the same project, so many emails were sent between us and other team members before I was finally fortunate enough to meet her in person. It was mid-July, 2001 - and during a break in our meeting we swapped stories about recent trips to Italy. I have only been once, and she hadn't been to some of the spots I'd visited. She said she wanted to try to convince her husband to "try a new place" the next time they went, and we promised to swap stories about our next visits to Italy. We were in trouble in the meeting (which was actually a class) fairly regularly for side-talking, but I couldn't help NOT talk to her - she was funny, witty, charming, bright, resourceful, and had a remarkable memory. I deeply regret that I didn't have the luxury of knowing her longer, but she has a permanent place in my heart and memory nonetheless. Eugenia - I envy the angels who get to laugh with you now.

Eugenia--
As we approach the first anniversary of the tragedy left on the morning of September 11th, I continue to think of you often. Everything I've read about you, and everything I know about you makes me remember how unique and magical you were. You were my friend, and although we lost touch several years before you died, I never forgot you. Our relationship was special, and will always live on in my heart. I'll always love you. Veronica

Jean was my only sister. NYC was a place she loved and I think about her often in my daily routine as I roam the city. I often walk by her old apartment on Lexington Ave and wonder which window was hers...The voids left behind from this tragedy are so vast, but none so great as the void left in the hearts of our family and her friends. She will be missed for an eternity by all of who knew her, loved her, and laughed with her.

Eugenia, Jean to her family, was my sister. She was the oldest and we miss her very much. I last saw Jean a month before when she and her husband Anthony vacationed in California. We got to spend time together catching up on ours lives. We had a great time. Jean was the serious one in the family yet she able to enjoy life and have fun. I will light a candle and say a prayer for her asking god to smile on her.
