9/11/22 - I’m waiting for the “T”s to be read on the tv as they show the memorial service. I always wait for Brian’s name to be read. I’m remembering the stories my mom, Elaine Backmeier, would tell me about Brian. She would always talk about the big smile he would give her when they saw each other at St. Luke’s in Dix Hills. I think his children went to her preschool. Thinking of you all today and hoping you’ve been able to enjoy life and live his “weekend fun” everyday. God bless and keep you. Katie

Brian was the life and light of his entire family. He was the most giving man you could ever know. Especially when speaking to him, he would give you his full attention. He had such a beautiful smile. He put all his family members on pedestals. They were his number 1's. Every year since 9-11, we remember what a great man and person he was. We remember the nice conversations during the Christmas parties, and family get togethers. It's important to do this because it keeps his memory alive. My son wears the flag lapel pin every year near his heart to honor him and carries his picture in pocket to school. No day shall erase you Brian from the memory of time.

I am proud to say I worked at Fuji Bank Miami with Brian as our HR VP in New York. He was a great guy. The last time we spoke was a few months before 9/11. I was doing a portfolio in College and needed a letter from him. He told me he would provide me with whatever I needed and even offered to mentor me throughout my HR career. Sadly enough, I never spoke to him again after that and never got the letter I needed. He will always be remembered by the Fuji Bank employees, current and past. RIP Brian!

I did not know Brian nor any of the victims of 911. I am a person from Maine who visited the Memorial in August 2013. I chose one name and decided to pay respects to that name - Brian Thompson. I goggled the name and the online story made him real tonight. Please know that I am sorry for your loss.

I did not know Brian well; but I did go to the same high school and knew his wife. I was so very sorry to hear about his passing and my prayers go out to his wife and family.

Brian's daughter and I were best friends since we were three, and he was like a second father to me. He was also a huge part of our "neighborhood family", always in charge of the music at holiday parties; always ready to play any sport you mentioned at a block party; and most of all, one of the best fathers I know. To his family, you know that I love you all more than anything, and I grieve everyday for Brian as well as for you. All my love and prayer, Di

I never met Brian before. I saw him at his niece's wedding 2 months before he died. My husband and his sister were telling me stories about how when they were kids, the parties at Brian's house were always a lot of fun. I went to the memorial service that they had for Brian. After hearing all the wonderful things that his family and friends had to say about him, I cried. Not just because of what happened to him, but because I never got to meet him. I just want to tell his family that my thoughts and prayers are with them as the 1 year anniversary approaches, and always.

We were so sorry to hear about Brian who we knew from our church in Merrick, NY when he was growing up.
We send our prayers for God's up-lifting during this Christmas season & beyond.
We don't understand the reasons for this, but know that God's love can work through it.
Many thoughts & prayers to Brian's family.....With Love

America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

I received word that Brian was missing from a close friend and prayed for him and his family. Many people here were as distressed as Americans over the loss of Brian and so many others. I wish you stength during this terrible period and some comfort in the fact that many people are holding his family in their thoughts.
