Sherry Bordeaux Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 5, 2001.
Good Cook and Loyal Friend
There was a certain stability to Sherry Ann Bordeaux: she joined Fiduciary Trust after college and stayed there for 15 years. She got to be best friends with Nicole Lynch way back in junior high school, and stayed best friends ever since.

And she loved her cozy living arrangement in a three-family home in New Jersey, where Ms. Bordeaux, 38, lived upstairs, her mother and brother lived downstairs and her sister's family lived in the basement. "She was close with my kids," said Ms. Bordeaux's sister, Cynthia. "She'd take them out to eat. They'd listen to music together, mostly R & B, and they danced a lot."

At Thanksgiving, while Ms. Bordeaux's mother would serve the meal, Ms. Bordeaux, an aspiring cook, would have the family — which often included Ms. Lynch — up for appetizers or dessert.

"She loved cooking and she liked to think she was the female Emeril," Ms. Lynch said. "Whenever we would travel together, she would find the good restaurants. Her wine was always merlot. She was a typical Virgo, very straight and clear and a little rigid. She always knew what she liked."

I went to Ground Zero this past September 12th 2024 ( since September 11th was so busy due to the ceremonies going on that day ) I came to pay my respect to all who passed that day and was standing right at the area where Ms Sherry Bordeaux name was inscribed and paying my respects I Googled Ms Bordeaux while standing right there and put a name with a face and immediately cried and prayed for her Family and Friends. Even though I did not know Ms Bordeaux I felt compelled to pay tribute to her and research who she was and it brought me here.

Sherry, I never met you, but I will remember you every year on the anniversary of your passing. They had a beautiful ceremony where I live, with a flag representing every life lost on 9/11. Your name was on the flag I sponsored. May your family and friends find comfort in knowing that you will never be forgotten.

Happy Birthday Ms. Bordeaux.
You will always be in our hearts.

D'Andre Workman

September 11, 2009

Dear Family and All of you who also loved Sherry,

My name is D'Andre Workman -- Sherry was one of my best friends in the fourth grade.

I grew up in Jersey City and attended elementary school with Sherry at P.S. 41. We were fourth grade classmates and friends (Our 4th grade teacher was Ms. Konciki at the annex of PS 41 between Claremont and Grant Avenues, around the corner from where we both lived.)

Before 9/11, it had been a very long while since I had been in contact with Sherry. Perhaps one of the very last times that I saw Sherry was when I bumped into her at the Piggly Wiggly supermarket in Elizabeth Town, North Carolina, where I spent most of my childhood summers on the farm. Of course, bumping into Sherry was quite a surprise --neither of us could have imagined us bumping into one another as we did that summer day so long ago at the Piggley Wiggly -- we could not stop laughing and giggling at one another. But what I remember the most about that most highly unlikely summer day -- amidst all of our giggling and laughter -- was Sherry's bright and magnificent smile.

On this day, September 11, 2009, as I remember Sherry and her magnificent smile, I pray to God this prayer: Sherry, may you never stop smiling down on us and May God bless your spirit and bless all of those who love you and miss you on this day.

Your friend, D'Andre, who will forever remember your magnificent smile.

There aren't enough words to express how I and the rest of the family miss you and love you. I know you and Nana are in heaven smiling down on us.

Until we meet again and with all my love,

I used to ride the path train with Sherry most mornings and while she stayed in WTC, I worked across the street. She actually lived a few houses up the street from me on Broadman Parkway. Always a smile and a style that would make one smile in return. I have since moved back to Kansas but often think of her. God Bless her family and may they keep the peace of knowing she is with our Maker and watching from above.

Dear family,

I am sorry about what happened. At my sister's school they made rist bands of the people that died on September 11. I got Sherry's name. I am happy that I got to get a rist band. Well I have to go I will write more later.

I never knew Sherry, but I know Hope aka Lena, a relative of Sherry's. I am writing today because I just wanted to convey my heartfelt sympathy to Hope and the rest of your family and to all families that were affected by the 9/11 tragedy. I tried to keep in close contact with Lena during the rescue efforts, hoping that the prayers from my family and friends would be answered and that somehow by the grace of GOD you made it out alive. Although that is not the case as we know it now, it's OK because you ARE in heaven with HIM!!I look forward to meeting you on the other side!! Know that I prayed and prayed and prayed for you and while you may not be here physically, I know you will continue to watch over your family and friends.

May your spirit live on and enjoy you new life with the LORD - it's wonderful isn't it???!!!

All my love to Hope and the rest of the family, Sherry may be gone to be with the FATHER, but she is where HIS Angels belong!!!

Love ya

As this nation and the world pause to remember the tragic and deliberate acts against us one year ago today, I know your family is remembering you Sherry...the joy and exuberance you brought to their lives. I join my thoughts with theirs on this day and my prayers are with them.

When I arrived to work this morning, a coworker gave me a flag with your name on it. A local radio station was giving them out so each person would be remembered by someone they never knew. A few moments later, I heard your name recited as I listened to the memorial ceremony at Ground Zero. So I know I was meant to think of you today, Sherry.

Your life meant something to all who knew you... and even to some who did not.

I am singing in a Rolling Requiem performance of Mozart's Requiem on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. During our rehersal this evening, we were asked to pick a name from the list of victims and to wear that name on a special badge over our hearts during the concert. I want Sherry's family to know that I picked her name (because it sounds so beautiful) and that I will be singing especially for her that day.

We are very sorry for your loss of Sherry. She has a very dazzling and warm smile which must reflect her heart. May her warm heart, her dancing, her life and love live on in you. Our hearts cry with you.

America Cries

We see your sorrow-

and our hearts cry....

We can not erase your pain

but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-

-the American people-

are beside you.

We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,

the strength that gives you courage,

and the words to lighten your spirits.

And when we are left speechless

may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts

to ease your sorrow.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-

-the American people-

face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
