Dear Ms.Catherine,
My name is Alyssa Ellison, and I am a senior at Klein High School in Klein, Tx. For a research project, I am creating a tribute to honor a victim of the September 11, 2001 tragic events at The World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and Flight 93. I have chosen to honor Greg Buck with my tribute.
I am sure that the memory of the event is quite painful, so if you prefer not to participate as a source in my research, please know that I understand completely.
In order to properly honor Greg Buck's life, I am looking for any information regarding his/her interests. I would appreciate any pictures you could share of Greg. Please include, too, any memorable stories about him/her, details of his/her job, family, friends, accomplishments, and personality.
If you would like to have more information about the project, feel free to contact my English teacher at [email protected]
Thank you so much for your time.
Sincerely,
Alyssa

My name is Mark Lopez. I am a firefighter with a department in Kansas. On Sept. 9, I will be climbing 110 stories in honor of Greg. I never knew him, he never knew me but I am proud to carry his picture on the climb for the second year in a row. Rest in peace, brother. This is for you.

To The Buck Family,
I never had the privilege of meeting Fireman Greg Joseph Buck, but in reading the obituary he was one of the most talented people that I have ever read about. But most importantly, Firefighter Buck lost his life in trying to save the life of others. A true hero indeed! Please accept my deepest thoughts of sympathy in the loss of your loved one.
Sincerely,
Mr. Terry of NC

Dear Buck Family, My best friend is Scott, Greg's cousin from Las Vegas and a Day never goes by that I don't think of him and all of his brother's that died that fateful day. However I was Really floored when I watched the season finale of Rescue Me, and they showed Greg's name right above Dennis Leary"s head when he was giving the speech to the new Fire Fighters about the sacrifice these Brave Hero's gave on 9-11(White and blue lettering) My only regret that I wasn't able to meet Greg when Scott invited me to Staten Is, but he will always be in my thoughts!
Thank You,

To all,
Almost 8 years have passed since the world was diminished by the loss of so many good people, most particularly for me, my brave and wonderful husband, F.F.Greg Buck. Not a day goes by that I don't think of him, talk to him and ask him to watch over me. No matter how many years go by, the wound remains and will never heal. I would walk gladly through the gates of hell, just to tell him one more time how much I love him and how blessed I am that he chose to share his life with me. Greg,I'll see you when I get there! Be waiting for me.
Love,
Catherine

I have worn a tribute bracelet with Greg's name on it for 5 1/2 years. When it got too brittle to wear, my wife had a replacement engraved for me. There is not a day that goes by that I do not think of his and his brother's sacrifice. May God bless their families and there memory.

I recently learned of the 9-11 bracelets that honor those who gave their lives on that tragic day. As a gift to my 2-1/2 year old granddaughter someday, I have many special momentos accumulated in what I call "Gamma's Box," and I decided to add one of these bracelets to this special collection. The firefighter who will live on and on in our family is Greg Buck. The bracelet and a copy of his biographical portrait will await her, and we will be forever honored to cherish his memory.

To commemorate 9/11 at the Kelley School of Business, we were given pieces of paper with 15 names each and asked to write them in colored chalk on the sidewalk outside our new building. Greg Joseph Buck was one of the people on my list.
Today is Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement. To fulfill the requirement of spiritual reflection that is required of us on this day, I am trying to learn as much as I can about Greg and the others on my list. That way, they are more than just names on a piece of paper. I am very happy to be able to put a face and a life story to Greg's name.
May God protect his soul.

May God's peace be with you, Catherine, and all of Greg's family. He gave the ultimate sacrifice, as so many firemen have done before him. My father, George Buck, was an engineer with the Chicago fire dept. The comraderie among all the men in the house gave us an extended family growing up. In addition, my mother was Catherine Buck, too. PEACE ! Marianne (Buck) Hinger - 9-11-02

I am the youngest granddaughter of George W Buck 1904-1981. He was an engineer for the Chicago FD from 1939-1961. Husband of Catherine Ryan, shift cook, and wookworker in his own right. The coincidences seem staggering to me down to the similar features of Greg compared to the photo's of my grandfather as a young man. My condolences to your entire family for the loss of Greg. You are in my prayers.

Dear Catherine,
Tomorrow morning I have the priviledge of participating in one of many performances of Mozart's Requiem in honor of those lost on Sept. 11. We were each allowed to select a name from the list of those that passed away on that day. I personally knew no one on the list, but I chose Greg because of the family name.
It has touched me deeply to get acquainted with him in a small way through the biographical sketches provided online, and from the tributes written about him. I am honored and humbled at his great sacrifice and at the good and decent person he is. I know that in our performance tomorrow my heart will be full and my thoughts will be on Greg and with you. May the Lord comfort and keep you well.

Mrs. Buck,
Our church had each parishoner pick out a name in a basket which had all of the names of the people who perished on September 11, 2001. I chose the name of your husband, Greg, and just wanted to let you know that I have been praying for him and your family as we approach the one year anniversary of one of the worst tragedies in history. After reading his bio, I see that he was a very special person and I am sure he is watching over us from heaven. Please accept my deepest sympathies and best wishes for peace and happiness in your life.
Love,

Today I received my 9-11 bracelet in honor of someone I do not know: FF Greg J. Buck of Engine Company 201 FDNY. Although I never knew Greg, I believe he died for me, and for us all. That's who he was; that was his job - to place himself in harm's way so that others would not be. I wear FF Buck's bracelet in humility and respect for the life he gave.

Father we entrust our brother Greg to your mercy. You loved him greatly in this life: now that he is freed from all its cares, give him happiness and peace forever. Welcome him now into paradise where there will be no more sorrow, no more weeping or pain, but only peace and joy with Jesus your Son, and the Holy Spirit forever and ever.

Greg - I never met you in person and I feel cheated. I spoke with you once on the phone and was taken with your warmth and friendliness towards someone you didn't know. I see your pictures and your smile - which is branded in my mind. Your wife, Catherine, has allowed me to become her friend and I treasure the gift. I am awed by the selflessness shown by you and your firefighter brothers. I know that now you are at peace and, as would be your character, worrying about Catherine's well-being. There is a hole in the world, Greg, left by your absence. And there are lives that you have indelibly touched - I include mine in that number. Your sacrifice has enabled others to examine their priorities and re-acquaint themselves to the things that are truly important. I hope we never forget this lesson. Thank you, Greg, from the bottom of my heart.

To all those who sent messages,
Please accept my sincere thanks and appreciation for the love, support and prayers that were offered for Greg, myself and our families. The loss of my husband is a wound which will never heal. He is my best friend, lover and most devoted supporter and my world will be forever diminished without him. I take comfort in knowing that in the gravest of extremes, he and his brothers selflessly gave their lives in order to save others.
God Bless America and our heroes!
Thank you, Catherine Morrison-Buck

I did not know Greg personally, however I do know his wife and just by knowing all her special qualities, I am sure Greg was just as special. They are two people trained in a field which involves helping others. May Catherine find peace and courage in dealing with this awful tragedy and may she always remember that she is loved by many.

Mrs. Buck, My daughter sent me the Mercy Band braclet with your husbands name engraved on it. Having been a fireman and a forest ranger for years, I feel a kinship with all fire fighters. I have lost some close friends in the wildland fire fighter ranks and it hurts. Please rest assured that I will wear this band as a reminder of what your husband and all the other heros in the fire service have contributed to this proud nation. My prayers are with you and yours.

The sympathies of the woodworking community go out to Greg's family and friends. His interests and obsessions were so much like those of many serious woodworkers, yet he clearly was a special person. I plan to mention him in my dinner speech at Fine Woodworking magazine's annual woodworking conference at Colonial Williamsburg this month.

I just wanted you to know that I just ordered a Mercy Band with Gregs name on it for my father, Vincent Buck, who lives on the Minesota/Canadian border. My dad recently retired after 30 some years as a Forest Ranger, and he was also a fire fighter for many years. Gregs memory will live on, and prayers will go out to his family everytime my dad or someone else looks at Gregs name on the band on his wrist. We will never forget him! God's Blessings be with you always,

We are extremely sorry for our nation's great loss of Greg. We thank him from our hearts for dedicating his life to help others as a firefighter. Such a dedication comes with a warm, brave, and caring heart. May Greg's many talents, his ability to listen to others, his courage, life and love live on in those who love him and in those who have been touched by his life. May the sorrow in your hearts be lightened by the warm memories of times together. May you always feel the warmth of his love radiate into your hearts. Our hearts cry deeply with you in America's loss of a hero.
America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
