Naomi Solomon Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 5, 2001.
Friends From Coast to Coast

Naomi Solomon was originally from California, Los Altos Hills to be exact, and was a graduate of Stanford University, class of 1971. But her West Coast pedigree did not stop her from being a "New Yorker through and through," said her first cousin Vivian Banta. As the vice president for business development for Callixa, a California-based software company, Ms. Solomon, 52, frequently traveled to her home state, where her parents and two brothers still live. "But she was always happy to come home to the city, to be in the middle of the energy and the activity," Ms. Banta said.

She loved theater and music, and was herself a classical pianist. She traveled frequently to Israel, and recently became involved with the Simon Wiesenthal Center, where, at a recent conference, she learned about the threat of terrorism in the United States.

Ms. Solomon lived on East 56th Street, not far from her Midtown office. On Sept. 11, she had gone to a technology conference at Windows on the World. When Ms. Banta first heard that her cousin was scheduled to be at the World Trade Center that morning, her only hope was that Ms. Solomon had been late, as usual. But on that day, she had arrived on time. "She was very giving, very intuitive, a good listener and very generous of herself, very caring of her friends," Ms. Banta said. "She had more friends than you can imagine."

I knew Naomi in junior high on the Stanford campus when I moved to Sonoma Terrace, the same street where she and her family lived. I attended her bat mitzvah. She was fun and smart and delightful. We had good times together. I am so sorry she passed in this horrific way. I belatedly here send her loved ones so much care. Shalom.

Naomi was my Boss at Bank of America both in San Francisco later relocated Company move to Concord Technology Center. Not only was I Naomi´s Secretary but we were more like family behind closed doors. She made me a better human, her strength, caring, kindness towards my husband and I were unconditional. I called Naomi every year around her birthday or holidays to let her know (joke) that she and I are forever Boss & Secretary no matter who/where we worked. When I called little after 9/11, one of her brothers were at her apartment and told him I always call to check on her (BD) I will forever remember when he advised that she passed in the Twin Towers attack...I dropped my phone in disbelief, cried then prayed. Thank you for always having my back and showing me what a "Real Boss Lady" looks/acts like. Never forgotten always in. My
My deepest condolences, blessings and prayers to the Solomon Families, Co-workers and Friends.

Those were wonderful memories that we all shared while in our twenties and working as project managers at the Bank of America data center on Market Street in San Francisco. As one of the up and coming managers Naomi will always be remembered for her leadership ability, uncompromising support for her staff, her quick wit, and her ability to be the consummate team player. Thank you for the memories and after all these years we miss you more than ever. ❤

We send our deep sympathy to your family. May God continue to give the help needed each day. Words can never remove the deep hurt but do show that others still do care. Naomi is still sadly missed. Finally may the time come when these violent acts that cause so much suffering come to an end.

Naomi, you were an amazing woman, who I was blessed to call friend.
I honor your memory, along with your family who know your loss on such an intimate level.
We met when I converted your building, and stayed close friends , for which I am deeply grateful. I miss your wisdom.
I will forever regret going to the tennis matches on that Sunday instead of keeping our date, thinking we would see each other in a few weeks.
And, as others have said, ( I still think of this) why weren't you late that morning!
In blessed memory

Naomi moved from New York City to Palo Alto when we were ten. Our class sang "The Sidewalks of New York" to honor her. She surprised me at that age by playing the piano quite well. She moved out of our neighborhood to the Stanford campus for our secondary school years and was more of a friend of friends than a buddy of mine but always a nice person and very smart. I was devastated to learn that she died this way. I think of her every year on this horrible anniversary and of her family. I am so sorry for your great loss.

I worked with Naomi at Callixa - she VP sales in NY and along with Chris Wemmer and one of our engineers out of the east coast were on the 102 floor (I think, above where the jet was intentionally crashed into the tower anyway). Such a shame, such a lose, must have been terrifying - I wont ever forget Naomi and Chris - my dad's birthday to boot - never forget!!!

Many years ago Naomi worked for me at Bank of America. It was clear to me from the 'get-go' that she was a highly talented individual. I remember a business visit with her to a BA IT center in Pasadena where I had to deal with a difficult personnel situation. If it hadn't been for Naomi's negotiating skills i'd probably have been fired.

In those days at BA it seemed to me that Naomi was an 'overlooked' talent.

Naomi went on to become a superstar in her industry and in helping me place another talented, and ultimately succesful lady.

Mr & Mrs Solomon, I fervently regret not attending your daughter's funeral. I would have wanted you to hear from me what a gifted, fun loving, spirited, and wonderful humnan being your daughter was.

My Dear Solomon Family,
Ten years ago today I drew your daughter's name from a jar as I entered St. Norbert Catholic Church in Orange for a prayer service. She has been in my prayers and in my heart every since then. We drew a name because we believe that God knows each one of us by name. During the prayer the priest said, "May God take into His care the soul of.." Each person in the congregation said the name of the person they drew so it was personal. After that we found Naomi's biography on the internet. She sounded like a woman after my own heart. God Bless You and just know she is in a better place. God Love You!!!

I am seventeen and today is the two year anniversary of the attacks. My school, Stafford High School, decided to make a huge flag covered in stars with the names of every single victim of the attacks on each one. This morning I recieved my star so as to place a name on it and the name and picture I recieved were that of Naomi Solomon's. I never met her and I hardly know anything about her but I cry for her. My heart weeps for her and her family and I wish I could tell her that she is my hero. I will carry her picture with me forever so that she can always be remembered. Her sacrifice touched people she did not even know existed -- like me.

On this day, our families (the Solks/Beers) are thinking of Naomi and sending our most heartfelt prayers to her family. Although, Naomi and I weren't close as friends, our families have known eachother for 30 something years. We feel so badly, yet again, on this day for what has happened and those she left behind.

I had the pleasure of working with Naomi for several years. She was a good friend who was always there. I miss her wit, outrageous comments, her huge heart, her devotion to those she loved, and her laughter. The world has lost a very special person.

As a tribute to the victims of the terrorist attacks, All Saints Church, Pasadena--where I work--had a vigil from 5:45 a.m.-11:45 a.m. We read the names of everyone who died on 9/11/01 and lighted candles in their memory. We also made wristbands with the name of an individual printed on each one and distributed them after church on Sunday and at the vigil to be worn from Sunday through Wednesday. Mine was Naomi Leah Solomon. I have carried her photo in my heart and will continue to pray for her family, friends & colleagues.

I knew Naomi quite well in high school, and my greatest memory is of her incredible laugh and lust for life. My sadness is greater at her loss because I know that now I won't have a chance to see her at any reunions and rekindle the friendship. Why does this have to happen to make people realize what they had and didn't recognize?

Naomi was a wonderful, caring and giving woman. She loved her family with her whole being. Although we only saw her sporadically when she visited the Bay area, she always made us feel as if we were part of her family. Our hearts and prayers go out to her family; especially her Mother and Father on this one year anniversary. Aloha 'Oe ~ Until we meet again.

America Cries

We see your sorrow-

and our hearts cry....

We can not erase your pain

but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-

-the American people-

are beside you.

We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,

the strength that gives you courage,

and the words to lighten your spirits.

And when we are left speechless

may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts

to ease your sorrow.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-

-the American people-

face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
