Todd Isaac Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 9, 2001.
A Kick Out of Everything
From college on, it was Todd Isaac and Troy Dixon. Two young black men navigating the mostly white world of Wall Street traders. They played golf, they went to the Hamptons, but Mr. Dixon drew the line at attempting to ski. "Todd said: 'Why don't we learn to snowboard? That way we can say we've been skiing all along, and we're just trying something new."

So they did, and when they were on top of Whistler Mountain, Todd Isaac, who grew up in the Bronx and worked for Cantor Fitzgerald, would say, "Look at us!" And when they were in South Beach, or in the V.I.P. lounge of a swank Manhattan nightclub, or at the Super Bowl, he would say it again. "Look. At. Us."

It was persistence and charm that got him there. Those qualities got him his girlfriend, Sandra Perez, too. A quiet foil to his boisterous humor, she did not like him when they met, at a Valentine's dinner for singles. She is Puerto Rican, and Mr. Isaac made one too many jokes about flan.

But it was not long before she was picnicking in Central Park with him, poring over the Real Estate section to plan where they would live. "Todd would make you love him," said his brother, O'Dell Isaac. "If you didn't love him right away, he would work on you until you did."

I think of Todd often and when I do, a smile comes to my face. I recall many great times with Todd and my best friend Joey Allen where we laughed (and drank) all night long while bouncing around NYC. His memory lives on and I wanted his family and friends to know I still grieve his loss. He was as vibrant, funny, personable, witty and smart as one can aspire to be. He is missed.

Almost 11 years later and I still remember Todd Isaac. I went to the same elemantary school with Todd (C.S. 44 in the Bronx, NY) and we were in the same class. Todd was extremely smart and my competition. I remember the year Todd was named school Valedictorian I made Solutatorian, it was still an honor for me to be right behind not just the smartest but the funniest and kindest boy in the whole school. My heart still hurts to know what you must have endured in your final moments but something tells me that you made it easier for someone else to get through.

Will never forget you Todd, See you and My beloved brother on the other side!

I knew Todd from high school. We spent hours together on the basketball court. I wasn't even close to being as good as he was, but he always made it great fun (even to lose to him)! I always had so much respect for him and admired him greatly. I feel blessed to have known him.

I am the sister of Joe Allen, who was also killed on 9/11. Todd and Joe were friends, and as a result my husband and I were fortunate enough to meet Todd a couple of times. I remember Todd was always smiling. Joey, who had a great sense of humor himself, always said how funny Todd was. Each year after I hear Joey's name read at the memorial, I listen for Todd's name. Just wanted to let his family and friends know that we are thinking of Todd today.

I never knew Todd or really anything about him the only thing we had in common was the same name. A few days after 9-11 some of my friends received emails asking if they knew of my whereabouts and if I was in New York. The name is not a common one. It finally came to my attention about the Todd Isaac who died in the tragedy. So I spent some time reading about him and the memorials and was grealty impressed by this man and what he meant to his friends.

I AM HEARTBROKEN TO FIND OUT I LOST A FRIEND I WAS IN ELEMENTRY SCHOOL WITH TODAY TO THE 911 ATTACKS. HE USED TO JOKINGLY CALL ME DUCK LIPS AND EVERYBODY IN OUR 6TH GRADE CLASS FOLLOWED RIGHT BEHIND HIM. HE WAS SOOOO SMART!!! I USE SAY "TODD TODD WHAT IS THE ANSWER" WHEN WE WOULD TAKE TEST BECAUSE HE ALWAYS KNEW. EVERYTHING USED TO COME SO EASY FOR HIM. SO AM NOT SURPRISE TO HEAR ALL OF THE WONDERFUL THINGS HE ACCOMPLISHED IN HIS LIFE. HE WAS THE CLOWN OF THE CLASS HAD A GREAT SMILE AND A CONFIDENCE ABOUT HIMSELF YOU COULD SEE IT IN THE WAY HE WALKED. HE WILL BE MISSED DEARLY. Every Sept. 11th I think of you Todd. We were classmates at Holy Cross and stayed on Campus the summer between sophomore and junior year. You, Reggie and Chris would come down to the apartment, the "Silver Box" and we would have dinner. You always laughted at our "fancy" cups and were so full of life and so much fun to be around. You always stopped and talked and said hello when I saw you on Campus - always wanted to know how things were. I just can't bring myself to throw away those cups - I don't think I ever will be able to. Rest in peace - I hope you are still smiling and having fun up there in Heaven.

I remember Todd from high school. He was a senior when I was a freshman. Having just gotten off the bus and onto campus, I had no idea where I was supposed to go. He helped me with my luggage, and directed me to the right place. Later on I would meet him again in track and field, and remember talking to him a few times. Todd was the type of person that anyone could be comfortable around. And he always smiled.

Rest in peace, Todd.

I met Todd through his college buddy Monte Chandler. I only knew him for a short time, but in that short time Todd had a tremendous impact on me. I immediately liked him. He was incredibly well centered for a young man who had enjoyed such early successes in life. He just seemed to enjoy his life. I experienced the September 11th tragedy first hand. As horrible as that day was for me personally, nothing saddened me more than the phone call I got from Monte telling me that Todd was in that building. I'm forever sad for all that knew and loved him and all that didn't have the opportunity, however brief.

I met Todd when we worked together at Neuberger Berman. We weren't close friends, but we played on the softball team together, and hung out after work a bit.

The last time I saw him, it was about 4 years after I left the company, and I can remember it very clearly: I ran into him on the subway and we had a nice, long conversation. He told me he was with Cantor, and gave me his business card. I was glad he succeeded.

Unfortunately, I lhave since ost his business card. I would give anything in this world just to have it back.

Todd, you were a great guy who's life was cut way too short. Rest in peace.

Todd was what we all aspire to be. He was kind, giving, smart, funny, ambitious....He enjoyed life to the fullest. I remember him telling me stories of going to Puerto Rico and Vegas for the weekend, learning to play piano, deep sea fishing, snowboarding, scuba diving....YOU NAME IT...TODD DID IT.....He was such an outgoing person that with the combination of his smile and witty personality he could make strangers feel right at home........He definitely made the world a better place....His zest for life became contagious while in his presence.......

I'll never forget him or what he's taught me.....Enjoy life and the people in it.....Until we meet again my friend.....

Todd's family and my family are connected through a mutual relative. His family is originally from Salisbury. His mother resides here as does several other relatives. His passing deeply touched us all. I did not know him personally, but from all accounts he was a great young man! He is truly missed by his family, especially his mother, Betty. May God continue to bless his mother and brother.

Todd - of all the people in the world, you were one we couldn't afford to lose. Always smooth with the ladies, always a guys' guy, and considered a good friend by all who met you, not just knew you. You will always be missed and never forgotten.

I was lucky enough to have met Todd through my friend, Joe Allen, who was also lost on Sept 11th. He was a quick witted, intelligent and articulate guy who lived life to the fullest. I envied the fact that he was young, successful, and seemed to have an incredible life ahead of him. My sincerest condolences go out to his family and friends. He was a special person that will be sorely missed.

Todd,

I will never forget the summer after graduation from PA when a group of us returned to Andover to work for Lou B. The barbecues, the trips to the beach, the surprise b-day party that you helped plan for me. You made everyone laugh. Even at themselves. I am so proud of all that you achieved. You are missed. You are loved.

My brother Joe and Todd were good friends. They had met at Cantor Fitzgerald and I think they were a good match - they made each other laugh. I had met Todd a couple of times and was struck by his easy going manner. I did not know him well, but could see what a good person he was. He was a friend of Joe's so I'm sure he was a remarkable person. My brother Joe was lost on 9/11 also. I'm sure they were together, trying to help everyone out of an impossible situation. And I'm sure they are toghether now - having a great time! My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

We are very sorry for your loss of Todd. May his life and love live on in those who love him. Our hearts cry with you.

America Cries

We see your sorrow-

and our hearts cry....

We can not erase your pain

but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-

-the American people-

are beside you.

We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,

the strength that gives you courage,

and the words to lighten your spirits.

And when we are left speechless

may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts

to ease your sorrow.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-

-the American people-

face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

I subconciously thought of Todd more often that I realized until recently. Todd was the one who told me his secret for keeping people from tickling you - laugh while kicking and swinging. He also gave great advice when an early college relationship was more challenging than necessary. We weren't that close, but he gave sincere assistance whenever needed. Most importantly he always made me smile - or at least laugh and not take myself so seriously.

Todd was my roommate in high school. He was one of the greatest guys I have ever known. Though we lost touch for some time after high school, we recently had been hanging out frequently. Todd was a guy who always brought a smile to your face. I know that some times when people pass on, others will say lots of exagerated nice things about that person. In Todd's case, they are all true. He really was one of the most generous and caring people I have known. It is my hope that out of this tragedy, we may all make the world a little bit better by carrying on the positive energy and downright goodness that was Todd Isaac.
