Along with 9/11 Families, John's son Bruce is doing incredible work to ensure that justice is served for every American. I know those who were lost that day would beam with pride knowing that their families and other citizens refuse to let their lives be in vain. The pursuit of truth is always worth it.

I was again proud to read the name Bruce Eagleson at our 9/11 hero ceremony here in The Villages, Florida. We read the names of all the heroes of that day and I read a few names of firefighters and include Bruce’s name. Many years I have remembered him at this ceremony and I will continue to do this. Heck of a guy!!!

Remembering John on the 20th anniversary of 9/11...
Bob Shea
September 16, 2019
To Bruce Eaglesons sons and wife Gail,
My name is Bob Shea. Bruce and I along with Paul Alfano were roommates for about 1 year when we attended Central CT State College. Our apartment was in New Britain right next to a great Italian restaurant called Teresa's which we often frequented. It has only been in the past year or so that I found out what happened to Bruce, so I wanted to reach out to say how sorry I am and to tell you what a great guy Bruce was, which I know you are very aware of. Bruce and I went to Manchester High School but I graduated a few years ahead of Bruce. I knew his brother Bill as well, excellent football player. I don't remember how Bruce, Paul and I hooked up to be roommates but we did and had a very enjoyable stay together. We decorated our apartment with old furniture our parents and friends gave us. Must say for three guys we had it looking good. Both Paul and I had served in the military prior to going to college. As the oldest I got my own bedroom and Paul and Bruce shared one. During this arrangement I met a girl in NYC, fell in love, asked her to marry me and move to CT. Believe it or not she moved in with the three of us, sharing my room. The guys loved my wife to be, Beth, especially when she had a hot meal waiting for us when we returned from class or our part-time jobs. She also kept a very clean apartment which we all appreciated. Beth and I just celebrated 49 years of marriage. Beth and I eventually moved out when we got married and must say we all shed a tear. Paul and Bruce did attend our wedding. After graduation we all went our own ways, Beth and I being transferred to the Midwest fell out of touch with Bruce. A while back, from MHS friends, I heard what happened to Bruce. Our time together was not long but it was memorable. It didn't surprise me to hear that Bruce went back in Tower 2 to help others...he is a true hero. I hope you are all doing well and would like to hear back from you. Sincerely...Bob Shea MHS Class of 63, CCSC class of 72.

Hi Eagleson Family...This letter is probably 10 years late but I wanted you to know my story. Bruce hired me when he was a district manager with K-mart. He gave me an opportunity after leaving another job under bad circumstances. I will never forget what he did for and remain eternally grateful to him for it.
I ran into him in Rhode Island at the beach a few years later and I was happy to see him again. It's little condolence, but he was a great human being as he gave his life for others. I will never forget him.

St. Timothy RC Church was again the site of our reading the names of the heroes of September 11, 2001. I asked someone if it was me or is this getting more difficult each year? His answer was yes to each question. It is me because I am a changed person and yes, it is difficult because it is still fresh in our minds. Bruce Eagleson's name was read again this year in tribute to his heroism

Well Uncle Bruce, it has been almost 8 years since that tragic day. It feels like yesterday when grandma called and said you were missing. That day stands in my mind. Why did you have to be a hero? I have been a volunteer fire fighter for 17 years and you are more of a hero than any of us, but you did not have to die to prove that. we all knew already. i miss you and love you so much. Please watch over Aunt Gail, Kyle, Stacey, Colton, Timmy, Genna and Brett. Remember we will always keep looking for you even if it is in our dreams....

My thoughts today are With Kyle and Stacie Eagleson, Mr. Eagleson's son and daughter-in-law. Stacie is a dear friend of mine, and was my college roommate. Mr. Eagleson passed away when Stacie and I were seniors in college. My heart went out to Kyle and his family on September 11th, 2001, and it goes out to them today, September 11th, 2007. I never met Mr. Eagleson, but I'm willing to bet he's smiling down on his loving family today, and watching with particular joy and pride as Kyle and Stacie welcome their 1st born, month old son into their lives. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. God bless.

This is so far after the fact that I hope it will reach the family of Bruce without anyone thinking it is too late.
I spent nearly thirty years in the fire service. September 11 has been very difficult for me to deal with. I spent every day watching the events unfold with no tears. I could not cry! A firefighter being hardened to the cruelties of the job? Probably. Caring? Most certainly! But I did cry very soon after word came out that Bruce was a victim.
Let me go back to Manchester High School in 1963. I was an incoming freshman and, being somewhat stupid,I got involved with other stupid kids and somehow got in a fight near the dugouts by the baseball field (Jim Kuhn can tell you where that is). The upper classman we were dumb enough to pick a fight with included Bruce. My lucky night. He and I squared off and he said to me " Lets make it look good and we'll both get out of here".
He did not want to fight, I did not want to fight and we both kind of mailed it in. The others? We didn't care.
The thoughts of that night will never leave me. I have had no thoughts of Bruce ( other than those of not getting my butt kicked in 1963) until the terrible events of 9/11.
As I said, I spent nearly 30 years in the fire service and these events hurt me deeply. The loss of Bruce hurt me deeply.
I will never forget him and wish all the best for his family.
As a sideline, I retired from the Manchester Fire Department as a Deputy Chief in the early part of 2001. As another sideline, I think I could have taken him.
God bless them all! God bless Bruce!

On this past September 11 I was at a local tribute to the victims of last years tragedy. At the end of the tribute, almost 3,000 stones had been assembled, 1 to represent each person lost. The audience was asked to add a stone, and if we knew someone lost, to write their name on the stone before adding it to the pile. When I was handed a stone, it already had Bruce's name on it.
I hope that Bruce's wife and his children read this and know that someone who cared about Bruce had remebered him by writing his name on that stone. He was obviously in their heart, and now he is in mine.
May God bless Bruce's family, and may God bless him.

I did not know Bruce, but my mother did. Eunice (my mom) worked for The Westfield Group in Rockville, Maryland (now retired) at Montgomery Mall. She told me stories of how he would brighten her day when he called and always had something funny to say. She had just talked to him the day before the tragedy. Our hearfelt sympathies go to his wife and children, and gratitude, for Bruce is a hero. He saved the lives of others without worrying about his own. A selfless act that will keep him a hero in our hearts forever. A hero who will truly be missed. God bless you, Bruce.

Bruce and I grew up together in Manchester, CT and were members of St. Mary's Episcopal Church. Our paths have not crossed since 1966, yet when I heard about his heroism and selflessness on 9-11, I was deeply touched and proud to have been his friend during our formative years. We never know the strength and courage we have inside us until some extraordinary event takes place. Bruce's wife and family know that he died helping others to live. My prayers are with you.

Bruce was like a brother to me. He helped me many times in my life. He hired me when I was in high school to help him with his Kmart paper work. Bruce helped my fill out applications for financial aid for college, buy a car,and hire a plumber when my basement was flooded. In July of 2001 many family memebers went to North Carolina. Bruce had fallen asleep in a chair in the living room. My loft was off the living room. Tina and I were afraid to wake him up so we video taped Bruce snoring. Bruce eventually woke up and Tina, Bruce and I went to sleep. That was the last trip I took with Bruce. I miss him terribly at the holidays. I would do anything to smell one of his famous after dinner farts that could clear a room! I pray that Bruce is in heaven and watching over Gail, his boys and other family members. He was one of the best brother-in-laws a women could ask for. God Bless Bruce.

Being married to our cousin, my only regret is that I didn't get to know you better. Being "busy" kept us from getting together more often. You did make an impact on our lives, especially when you included my nephew Marc in selling Christmas trees. He will always remember the fun he had with you and your sons and Uncle Joe. It is a privilege to have known you and to know that because of you and Gail we have your three sons to know and be proud of. You too, I'm sure are watching over them and are so very proud of them right now. My hope is that we will all know you are in a safe place in heaven or we can by some miracle still find you after all this time.

America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
