Remembering my best friend at school Robert Eaton - A true force of nature and an incredibly talented guy in many ways - taken far too soon - RIP Rob
Dan Sharpstone
August 22, 2023
Hi Rob. I took the kids to find your name at the memorial site last week ( they found it before me) and then showed them your photos inside. I told them stories about our times in Hampden house at Brighton College. You were so brave in showing me the wheals from Bill Blackshaw´s unkindness. I suspect you would have smiled, looking back after your successes at the likes at Cantor Fitzgerald.
You were also in my year at Balfour and would have groaned when we found at we had Mrs Camillyn for the fourth year out of five. But she wasn´t so bad after all.
That´s fifty years ago now Rob. But the memories are still strong.
My kindest

I don't know Robert, but we share the same last name. Perhaps somewhere in our geneology we are related. Regardless, I pray for his family and pay respect for their loss. God bless you.

I worked with Rob at Lehmans in London. He had a friendly sense of humor. We played squash together. He was 100% competitive & always won. I went to his family home one day & he played a recording of his singing. I loved my time working with Rob & have always been devastated by the news. He will live on through this memorial trust & I will always fondly remember him. Craig Douglas kiwi from New Zealand. [email protected]

Great to know he will always be remembered by this fabulous memorial. God bless Rob.

I was too young to remember much about 9/11.I hadn't really thought much about it until this year but that it was mine and my grandfather's birthday and I was turning four. The day after 9/11 my school had a ceremony for the ones who died on that day.We had each let a ballon fly high each grade had a different colors red, white,or blue. Today we planted flowers for everyone that died on that very sad day. I just hope that every one knows that I am praying for everyone who's family lost someone they loved, even you.

I never knew Robert but I was emotionally moved by his parents at the 9/11 ceremony in London yesterday. I wish them peace for the rest of their lives.

I always think about them and Robert in September, such a sad loss for them and all families involved. We will never forget what happened.

Remembering Rob
Can't believe it's 6 years now since we stopped our recording session to watch those terrible events - After 3 hours We did a quiet version of silent night and went home. I'm playing an album launch tomorrow with the same people - we will think of you and visit the memorial in St Paul's.
You'll always be fondly remembered - your incredible sense of humour and fun but your amazing voice and musicianship - like none I've ever heard before or since.
God bless you Rob and your family

I never met Mr. Eaton, but I was reading this and I want to give my sympathy to his family. I think it is hard to lose a person regardless of whom they are, but I think it is even harder to lose a lively guy like Mr. Eaton seemed to be, simply because the death is felt with more intensity...I hope that things have gotten better since your loss five years ago, and I wish you nothing but the best.
my best wishes

I was in the same class as Robert Eaton at Balfour Road Middle School, Brighton, England, from 1975 onwards. My strongest memories of Rob were apart him being a great footballer, singing hymns. We had a teacher Mrs Camillyn, I hope she is alive and well, who was very religious and loved to teach scripture and to encourage her class to sing. It was nearly always the same, to start the whole class singing together though ending up with Rob singing alone. Mrs Camillyn had a nickname for Robert, because he was always messing about in class and striving to be the centre of attention, she would call him "Notice Box", though I think she would notice him more than anyone because she was very fond of him and often showed admiration and favourtism towards him.
As I make the guest book entry a smiling face is looking at me, easily recogniseable after all the years.
I would like to wish all of Robert's the very best for the future.
Rod.

Dear Jacqui,
My name is Magdalena and I received the name of your husband on the WTC Rememberence Bracelet I ordered five years ago. When I received it, I immediately looked him up. What a handsome, fun-loving and talented person! I want you to know that although we've never met I am proud to wear his name on my wrist. I tell everyone who asks about my bracelet about him. I celebrate who he was and mourn the missed opportunity to meet him personally. Although I live in PA now, I lived in NYC then. In fact, I worked about a mile and a half away from the Towers and watched the horrible events unfold first-hand.
I wish you comfort and peace.
Sincerely,
mike roffey

Thinking of Robert 5 years on - he will never be forgotten. For anyone visiting London you may want to know there is a memorial plaque to Robert in the crypt of St Pauls Cathedral just outside the choir practice room where we spent 5 glorious years together. What a voice and a remarkable person who seemingly left a lasting impression on everyone he met. God bless Jacqui and Rob's family

Jaqcui... I have just re-watched several TV programmes I had recorded in the aftermath of the terrible happenings of Sept 11th. I saw you in one of the programmes; my heart goes out to you, and I feel for you so much. I know it was almost 4 years ago now, but I can only imagine that it still feels like yesterday to you. I want you to know that I (and many others) will NEVER forget what happened that day, and how many people were affected, personally or otherwise. I was myself on a plane that day coming back from my honeymoon in Mexico, and I thank God every day that I made it home safely to my family. I wish for you MUCH happiness and love, and hope that one day you can feel at peace. I really wish I could give you a hug, but for now, please accept a cyberhug from across the oceans, and know that you are tremendous person. You are brave, strong, and I would be proud to call you a friend. Much love and thoughts always, Tracy x

Jacqui, and Roberts family in England
All our thoughts once more, on this sad anniversary, are with you. Yesterday the Robert Eaton memorial flag was with us, at Watford for the match, and the Albion performed for you Robert, a battling 1-1 draw.
Not a day goes by without thought - my escape from 63 WTC 1, and your loss, so close, but so far. God bless.

Dear Jacqui,
I only know Robert thru his treble voice as was recorded when he was with St. Paul's Cathedral Choir in London. I listen to him and remember. I hear the promise of a small boy who became an outstanding man. His recording has created a lasting legacy for many around the world. May you find comfort in that he is not forgotten.

On this day 1 year later - I carry today a flag bearing the name Robert Eaton. One of so many that we tragically lost in the attack on our country. May we never forget those who we lost and how they had to sacrifice their lives so that we as Americans would come together as one and regain the patriotism so many of us had lost. We must always remember that these lives lost were civilian lives that were taken in cowardess. I carry this flag with sorrow for the families loss and yet I carry it with pride and in the name of Robert Eaton I vow that I as an American citizen will do whatever I can as often as I can to ensure no other family suffers as yours has. I pray for you all - but you must remember that with the world in it's current state, there must be a shortage of angels in our Heavens. On 911 God replenished his Heaven with the greatest of all angels. We now have Guardian Angels to protect & watch over us all. God has blessed the person who has received Robert as their Guardian Angel. May God Bless and heal your family.

Such a fun loving smile and happy eyes must be a true reflection of Robert's heart. May his enjoyment for Halloween, for life and love live on in those who love him.
May the sorrow in your hearts be lightened by warm memories of times shared. Our hearts cry with you.
America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
