Remembering Sarah on the 20th anniversary of 9/11...

Thinking of you Sarah ❤
March 14, 2017
I didn't know Sarah on a personal level but I feel as though I do. I worked in the photo lab her in-laws used in our small town, so I knew them. I processed SO many rolls of film from Sarah and Roge's wedding that last summer of 2001. When you see so many pictures of people and during such amazing life events, you get a real sense of "knowing" them even when you don't. Word of her passing began floating around by September 12, 2001 but was silently confirmed a few weeks later when her in-laws began ordering reprints of pictures of her. I didn't ask or say anything, it's weird but I didn't have to. When people bring in film or pictures of loved ones who have recently passed, you just feel it and I could definitely tell Sarah was loved then and always would be. R.I.P.

15 years on - remembering that smile, that infectious energy, that warmth. You have missed so much and you have been much missed.

We visited the 9/11 memorial and museum last week. Inside my daughter made a flower and as we didn't know anyone personally we wanted to leave it for someone we could find a connection with. We are from London and my daughter shares your name. You were obviously a well loved person and we will now always be thinking of you and praying for you.

I think of Sarah often, and buy purple tulips (Sarah's favourite flower) every year on 28 February to celebrate her birthday/life. A wonderful kind friend taken too soon. Sadly missed.

I am going back to New York in May and the first place I plan to visit is the new 9-11 memorial and locate the name of Sarah Ali Escarcega.

Sarah and I were good chums in Tokyo and we shared a few things about our lives. I thought she was one of the most charming and gorgeous people I'd ever met and I could not believe the news. I think of her often and see that dazzling smile whenever I'm feeling positive.

As I cross-stitched your name on the memorial that I am doing for all of the victims, I prayed for you and your family. Please know that your death was not in vain. We will always remember. God Bless.

I knew Sarah when she was a lively charismatic girl working at Virgin in London, with her friend Meena. We had a lot of fun together, including with Ken and Gordon, in their Balham flat years ago. She was always happy and positive and had a great laugh and smile. I remember how meticulous she was, carrying her pen in a pen case and always organised. She was never afraid to change things up, move on and move up. She used to say: "you don't like it? Change it!” We lost touch over the years until her picture showed up on the front page of an English newspaper to convey the worst news. To Hannah and the rest of Sarah's family, my thoughts.

My son went to school with Roge and his father did my son's appendectomy when he was 12. With Roge' losing Sarah at WTC, it feels like we've lost one of our own.
God be with her family always and give them peace.

I've never met Sarah but her mother-in-law is my spanish teacher and I have heard many wonderful things about her. I just hope that wherever her family is today that they know she is in a far more beautiful place. My heart goes out to her family and friends.

I don't know who Sarah is. But she, together with another 3024 victims and their loved ones, are in my deepest prayers every day since 11/9/01. It is also my prayer that all of us will bring forth our strength, courage and hope to advance forward and help to create a peaceful world.

My wife, Anna and I met Sarah for the first time through a mutual friend, Chris Kwan
for Chinese lunch in Sydney around
3 months before the tragedy.I remember Sarah as switch-on and smart lady. She was going to UK and to get married. So sorry.

I never met Sarah. My son was in a Spanish class with her in the summer of 2001. On the last day of the class a group of the students went to lunch at the outdoor cafe in Bryant Park. My son speaks of her beautiful smile, her laugh - memories of a sunny day spent with friends the last innocent summer. My husband and I join our son in expressing our extreme sorrow to her family for their painful loss. I just watched on television as Mayor Guilliani read Sarah's name. I'm so sorry.

I met Sara in the summer of 2001 in a Spanish class at Instituto Cervantes. Our small group went out to lunch a few times. She was a warm and wonderful person. I am deeply saddened by her passing and I just want to offer my thoughts and prayers to her family.

Didn't know Sarah or Roge but work
at the hospital with her father in-law. My kids went to school with
the Escarcega kids. Everyone in this small town knows everyone so
we felt Sarah was one of our own.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to
Roge and the rest of Sarah's family.

I never had the chance to meet Sarah, but I wish I had. I have heard so many good things about her. Her mother-in-law is my daughter's Spanish teacher.I just want her family to know that my heart and prayers are with them. God blessed you with having Sarah's light shine in your lives, and now it will shine with the angel's in heaven. May God wrap his loving arms around you, and give you his peace.

America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
