I knew Billy. Stevie was our dear friend and next door neighbor in Brooklyn, as were Stevie's parents. I knew Stevie's Grandparents. When Billy was killed in the World Trade Center, we were devastated! Billy was a great spirit and friend who loved his family and friends very very much! Billy, You will NEVER be forgotten!!! Love - Larry and all of the Russo's and Silverman's

Remembering William on the 20th anniversary of 9/11....

September 11, 2021
Met Billy once on a vacation that our families were on together in Lake
George. I remember sharing a couple of drinks together at a patio bar poolside with both of our families present. I was heartbroken to hear that his was one of the lives lost less than a month later. Upon meeting Billy I could tell instantly that he was a decent man whose family meant everything to him. My thoughts and prayers are with them on this sad day
god bless

Even though I am too young to remember the attack on September 11th, from what I have read William Esposito sounded like he is a very caring man. Somebody that everbody loved to be around, and an all around great person. At our school we have done a Balloon Release and a Memorial Garden in honor of the brave heroes and victims. Everytime I think back those events, I will remember all the victims of 9/11, espicallly William.

The name of your loved one is featured in my video (A Visit to the WTC MEMORIAL). I thought you might want to take a look. It's a peaceful tribute to those who lost their lives that day. Thank you and God Bless...

You wrote to Billy on my birthday! Isn't that something?
Thinking of you and your family and, now that spring seems to be arriving, remembering the lake and the benches and the long ago sunset conversations.
Miss Billy and you and the gang and all of it today.
Hang in there, Rags.

I will miss you and love you forever. The article in newsday was great but not as great as you. You would love Billie and Isabella more then words can say. It is such a loss for them to not have you in their life. I tell them all about their Poppy Billy and they know who you are. I love you and miss you soooooooo much Love Bunny (Stevie)

And again a day so gloomy. Maybe that is how it should be from now on.
Once more we remember the day, Billie and Stevie, the family, the old friends and the perch atop the white bench on the beach at Budd when the sun was setting.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Another gray 9/11, so unlike that day.
That day was one of the clearest and sunniest ....
until the darkness descended.
Still thinking good thoughts of you & Stevie and your kids seven years later, B.
Once again, summer is gone.

A rainy one today, B. Reminds me of those dreary September days in Budd Lake that always made the end of summer sadder. We'd sit on those white benches on the empty beach smoking cigarettes and remembering the highlights of the past summer and wondering what the fall and winter would bring.
Even memories of teenage angst are good things, B.

On the day after the 5th Anniversary, it is good to know that people are still remembering you, B. Your kids and your wife are doing a great job of keeping you prominent in the memories of everyone who is paying any attention. You would be very very proud!

My name is Adrienne. I am a sophomore at Rancho Cucamonga High School in California. We paid tribute to 9/11 by wearing American flag wristbands with names of all the people who were taken from us on 9/11. I was proud to wear the name of William Esposito and I will save and wear it, in his memory, for years to come. My best to his family and friends.

This is a song from long ago. The tree was in Billy & Mike's back yard in Budd Lake.
I hadn't realized Billy had been lost on September 11th until a year later and haven't been able to get Billy or the song out of my head for days since.
Stevie, so belatedly, how very sorry I am for you and your children.
We spent our summers in the country.
We watched the sunsets paint the skies.
And as the moonlight crossed the water
We played at acting old and wise.
Chorus:
Evergreen, you’re whistling in the autumn breeze.
Evergreen, your limbs are bending heavy with snow.
Everlasting rainfall pounds your branches.
Evergreen, evermore, you grow.
Now we are married to the city.
We hold each other ‘gainst the night.
The sons and daughters of our memories
Are slipping slowly out of sight.
Chorus
If I should wake before the sunrise,
I’ll lay beside you for awhile.
I’ll skip a stone across the winter
To see the spring light in your smile.
Chorus

May God bless you all through these tough times. I was never very close with you all, but didn't have to be to know what a strong family you are. What a wonderful example of a close and loving family you are to all of us! You are in my constant thoughts and prayers.

I never knew Mr.Esposito, but i knew his daughter susie, we went to John F Kenndy h.s. and she was in most of my classes. I knew how much she loved her dad and how proud she was to be a esposito, she even drove a car with a license plate that said espo kid. i remember when i first moved to merrick she was one of the first friends i made there. They say the apple doesnt fall far from the tree, susie is a kind warm outgoing and loving person, which i believe she obtained all those qualities from her parents, my heart is sad knowing that she is suffering and has to go on with her life without her father, to such a terrific person she deserves much better, susie i wish to express my deepest sympathies to you and your family, know that your dad is resting in a better place, and loves you very much, god bless him and may he have a place in gods kingdom where he can look down upon you and your family forever!
god bless

What a wonderful love story. Thank you for sharing it with us. May William's life and love live on in those who love him. Our hearts cry with you.
America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
