I grew up in Ridgewood and Gerard was a childhood friend. We played together on Madison St. May God bless him and his family and friends.

Gerry was a very good friend of mine for several years. Eventually we even became boyfriend and girlfriend. I think about him often. I feel so sad that his life was cut so short. He was a gentle soul and had a special place in my life. I want to send my condolences to the Rauzi family. I think about him often. I sometimes look at old photographs of him and can't believe he is gone. I know it has been over ten years now, but it seems like yesterday. My thoughts are with you.

Dear Nancy,
I had the pleasure of meeting your brother while working at the office of Dr.Patrick Sheehan, his dentist and yours. He was a very gentle and kind person and I recall him telling me your mother was going to Italy. I spoke with him only two days before 9/11. It was very difficult for me when you came to the office to express to you my condolences (after finding out that you are his sister.) I will always remember him and you on this horrific day that changed all our lives, especially for you. It is the 10th anniversary today and he is the only person I knew who was lost, but someone whom I will never forget on this day, as well as you. My prayers are with you always.

Fresh out of college, I worked at 2 World Trade Center with the New York State Department of Taxation & Finance with Jerry. We were divided into teams. Jerry was part of my team. We got along perfectly. We used to go for drinks after work and enjoyed working together and we had a competitive edge between each other and betted on who was able to the get the most money for the state during the audits. In the year 1983 I quit working for the State of New York and became self employed. Yet, I Never stopped visiting my friend at the tax office. The Tax Department moved some of its operations to Maiden Lane near the World Trade Center. Jerry got promoted and he was sent back to The World Trade Center. I did not find out of his death until one year later when I called to pay a visit to his office. William Emslie, our former supervisor, gave me the bad news. I would like to take this opportunity to say that Jerry did not deserve what happened to him. I pray for his soul everytime. My condolences Jerry's family. he will never be forgotten.

Not sure if Gerard's family look at this anymore. But I went to NY for the first time in 2009. I stopped at the world trade center memmorial and bought a bracelet for my husband. the bracelets have the names of the people who died on 9/11. My husbands bracelet has Gerard Rauzi. His family is always in our prayers.

I had the profound pleasure of working with Jerry when he brought cases to the D.A.'s Office. He was a beautiful person, a perfect gentleman, one of the kindest people I've had the pleasure of knowing, and a dear friend. He touched so many lives, and his ever-present smile and thoughtful gestures will never be forgotten. I will never forget him - nor will my co-workers - and I pray each day for his family to find the strength to go on without him. How the angels must be smiling with him in heaven!

I was very saddened to hear of Jerry's passing. Jerry and I were high school classmates at Christ the King High School back in the 1970s. I had not seen Jerry since the day we graduated in June, 1976. However, when I learned of Jerry's passing I was stunned and saddened. Jerry was such a good and kind kid and I am certain that as the years went by, his goodness only flourished. When we were juniors in high school, my dad was suffering from a diabetic condition and my dad worked in Maspeth, pretty far from our school. I used to worry about him alot and I told Jerry about it one day. Every day, for almost two months, Jerry went out of his way after school to drive me from Middle Village to Maspeth so I could meet my dad after work and go home with him. It was such a simple act of kindness on Jerry's part (that's the way he was), but I never forgot it. I wish I had had the chance to thank him for it. I don't know if Jerry ever married and had a family. If he did, I am sure there is a tremendous void in your lives in losing such a loving and good man. I am sure his family misses him and your are in my thoughts and prayers. Knowing what a guy Jerry was, I am sure he is watching over you now. May he rest in peace.

America Cries

We see your sorrow-

and our hearts cry....

We can not erase your pain

but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-

-the American people-

are beside you.

We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,

the strength that gives you courage,

and the words to lighten your spirits.

And when we are left speechless

may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts

to ease your sorrow.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-

-the American people-

face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
