Aisha Harris Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 19, 2001.
Keeper of Confidences
Aisha Harris had a plan for her life, and she told her mother, Arvette Harris, that she was on schedule. At 22, she enjoyed her job at General Telecom as a customer services representative, dealing with accounts and troubleshooting. She switched her major at New York Technical College to telecommunications because she saw a future in the field.

She had a lot of friends, and took trips with her girlfriends. They went to Florida last summer. Many had been with her at Adlai Stevenson High School in the Bronx, where she wrote for the newspaper and the poetry magazine, played saxophone in the band, and was an honor student and treasurer of the student government.

But more than that, said Tanisha Robinson, who knew her since preschool, "she was the kind of person you could talk to about anything ‹ school, boyfriends, money problems, family ‹ and she would keep it to herself. But she'd give you her honest opinion."

She had a boyfriend, Curtis Noel, who also worked for General Telecom at 1 World Trade Center. They were thinking about marriage, her mother said, but he also died on Sept. 11.

The beautiful & respectful young woman who always greeted me with kindness....she will always be remembered & I hold dear to my heart..how her family is missing their Princess...It breaks my heart every time..., because I can't imagine My life without my girls...I'm no longer a resident of the Commons, but hope her family knows that we still have them in our prayers!...

This is my family......I say that because I knew her since she was little girl.....Her uncle was one of my greatest and most supportive friends in the whole world (Greg). She was such a beautiful and humble soul. She walked her own path even though she was surrounded with the on-goings of a rough neighborhood....I watched her grow from a little girl into a smart and very mature young lady.....She was special in a way that was unspoken....At glimpse of her, you knew she was going places and it wasn't gonna take long.....She was determined to make it...........My heart goes out to her family.....As part of the Stevenson Commons family, I stand extended to all of her family, who I know very well. I would just like to say that you were truly an Angel on earth and it soothes me to know that GOD has called on you to continue your shine in Heaven......May you R.I.P. - Paul Jones......I was there that day....I worked at 157th Williams street and got off the train to look up at that building.....I could have never imagined that you were in it....Stay Sweet, for I know you look down on all of us.......

I was so shocked when I found out that Aisha had died in the WTC attacks. I am truly sorry that she lost her life at such a young age and extend my condolences to her family. It is weird at times for me because I have dreams about talking to her even though I know that she has died. She was a nice person and very intelligent. I've signed this guestbook years ago but I just wanted to sign again. I didn't know Aisha very well when we attended Stevenson together, but I knew her brother Marcus and only later came across Aisha having worked in 2 WTC while she worked in 1 WTC. I only spoke to her in passing, but she was a sweet girl and I only wish she and her boyfriend had made it out the tower. When things can be looking down for me, I always think of you and I know I and everyone else that made it out those towers, owes it to you and everyone else that lost their lives that day; to keep striving forward. Thank you for being an inspiration even in the bleakest of days. Rest In Peace Aisha.

I am from Eutawville, SC and I never knew Aisha. To Aisha's family, I know that she is at rest so don't cry. Life will be easier as time goes by. She has done her best to live a good life and I know she is with God. God has called her home for a job well done. Know that she is happy and content. We know and she knew that it's hard on earth, but as hard as it seems we should not cry at death, but at birth. She has no worries, pain or fear, because she is with God, so dry your tears. She loves you all and this is what she wants everyone to do, PUT GOD FIRST IN YOUR LIFE AND SHE KNOWS SHE WILL BE SEEING YOU. Aisha's beautiful pictures are saying "Look at me as you go by; So as you are, so once was I, But as I am, so shall you be. So prepare yourself now, for some day soon you will follow me." God bless Aisha's family and friends and love from Eric.

Many lives were abruptly ended over 3 years ago. I'm not sure what lead me to this web site. But I wanted to take the time to read about each individual. It's the least we, who have a chance to continue our lives, can do.

December 19, 2004

You know, the weirdest thing is that it took me THREE WHOLE YEARS to find out that one of my High School classmates was a victim of the 9/11 attacks.

I never hung out with Aisha, but I did know her back in Adlai E. Stevenson High School. She and her closest friends (and yes I do remember almost everyone e.g., Raquel, Sulma, Jisha, Jamila) had classes with me from the 10th grade to the 12th. From what I know of Aisha and from being around her and her people in these classes and in school, Aisha was one of the Honor students. I remember when they cut out the Honors Program that the Honors and St. Lawrence students were put together and that is how everyone got to know each other either on a friendship or acquaintance basis. One of the classes highlighted was Mr. McMahon’s English class in Senior Year.

Although Aisha was an acquaintance, she was still one the nicest people you could ever get to know. I didn’t know much about her, but I did know she was intelligent and was part of the Senior Counsel. I also met her mom, dad and brother at graduation on June 25, 1997. I am writing because I am still shocked to find out that she was one of the victims of these vicious attacks.

All of this time, I prayed that noone I knew would be in those buildings. I cannot feel anything except wish that there was something I could have done to prevent the events that happened. I’m pretty sure that everyone feels this way. But what happened that day should not have taken place, and I want to take this time out send out my deepest condolences to her family and friends.

She has crossed over and is now with God; May she rest in peace.

Aisha Anne Harris and I have been together since the 2nd grade (2-IGC with Ms. Rubin) at P.S. 182 up until our Senior year at Stevenson H.S. I was her Student Government President and she was my Treasurer, friend and confidant. To this day her picture remains on my wall from our elementary school dance recitals, junior high school award ceremonies and high school graduation good-byes. Aisha was not only beautiful and intelligent but full of life and ambition, I still weep for her and cherish her memory. Yet I not only weep for the life she lost but also for those who will never know her the way I knew her!

I met Aisha through her friend, Kathy P. at my old job in New York City (ING Barings.) She used to come and visit Kathy on lunch breaks. It was back in I believe, 1995/6. Well, I was on the phone with Kathy last night (whom I haven't spoken to in like a year) and she told me that Aisha had passed due to the incident at WTC on Sept 11. I remembered the name, but could not picture her face. So,I was told that you could find everything on the internet. I pulled up her name and read the article. I once knew this child of God. I met her before. When I heard of the news, I was in shock. After getting off the phone, I cried. Thinking back to September 11th is very touchy for me and I'm sure for alot of people. My condolensces go out to Aisha's family. May she rest in Peace. God Bless.

The passage of time cannot dim the beauty of this lovely young woman. Although she was horribly and cruelly murdered her beauty and her soul live on. God has the answer to the horrible acts that occurred on September 11. It is stll too difficult to try and comprehend why such a beautiful young woman with her life ahead of her was so horribly murdered. So many of the victims were like Ms. Harris. So young and so full of promise. Just looking at this young woman is so saddening. Why did she have to die. God has the answer to all of this. May this young woman rest in eternal peace.

America Cries

We see your sorrow-

and our hearts cry....

We can not erase your pain

but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-

-the American people-

are beside you.

We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,

the strength that gives you courage,

and the words to lighten your spirits.

And when we are left speechless

may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts

to ease your sorrow.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-

-the American people-

face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
