Curtis Noel Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 27, 2001.
Class Clown and Big Tease
Curtis Noel loved to tease his mother. Once Theresa Noel dropped some chicken on the floor, and her son shouted, "Nasty, nasty!" Then he said that was where he got his clumsy genes. That sense of humor got him voted class clown at James Monroe High School in the Bronx. He also loved his job as a switch engineer at General Telecom in the World Trade Center.

The company had sent him to training courses, and was always calling him in on weekends when something went wrong.

Mr. Noel, 22, could never bulk up. He would go to the gym, or eat a lot, but he was always skinny. So he would tell his husky friend Garvin Richardson, "You're my bodyguard." He had got Mr. Richardson a job at another office of General Telecom, but they rode most of the way from the Bronx to work together.

The last time he told Mr. Richardson about bodyguard duty was the morning of Sept. 11, when they arranged to go to the bank at lunchtime. They shook hands when Mr. Richardson got off at the Brooklyn Bridge stop on the No. 4 train.

Mr. Noel and his girlfriend, Aisha Harris, were thinking of getting married. She worked at General Telecom, and she died that day, too.

I never met Curtis, I wasn't even alive when 9/11 happened. However, stumbling across his and Aisha's story made me realise the innocent lives lost that day who had their whole life ahead of them. These two beautiful role models of what a human should be will never be forgotten. From across the pond sending love to Curtis, Aisha and their families.

Hey cousin . Not a day goes by that I don’t think about you . The good times we had in the house . You was such a beautiful soul inside and out . Always full of life and laughter . I remember I use to be so eager to get to my dad just to go your house to see you every weekend . Lord knows I miss you . You was my FAVORITE . And will forever be my favorite cousin . I love and miss you sooooooo much. Til we meet again .
Ps. I’m going to make it my mission one year to go and say your name. You deserve that . I promise you that .

Curtis I will always remember the days when you would D.J. in my house on Fteley for my brother Dashown's parties. You were one of the most funniest people that I have ever met. We all use to spend so much time together. Playing football on sundays with my brothers, sitting on my stoop, or chilling somewhere at somebody's house lol. Gone way too soon and miss you so much. I can't believe it's been 5 years already. I met Curt through my cousin Loydis who went to High School with him. Curt was a comedian, always cracking jokes and smiling. He loved his family, his friends and i'll always remember him pulling up in his Money Green Acura. Keep the angels laughing in Heaven, I guess god needed to smile more, so he called Curt home. I wish he was here though.

So much time has passed and I still can't believe that you are gone. So much has happened in my life and it saddens me that I can't pick up the phone and tell you about it, but I know that I can tell you in my prayers. I graduated from college on 5/5/05, thanks for all of your encouragement, wish you could have been there. I miss you so much Curtis. I still have the letter you sent me about my Jordan's that was to small. My prayers are with your family. Miss you and love you much.

I only met Curtis one time. My best friend Conrad warner is the uncle of Curtis's best friend Garvin. Curtis and Garvin were thinking about getting into music production and Con wanted me to give them some advice on what equipment they should buy. Well we ran into them one night in the Bronx and I got the chance to kick it with them. I already knew Garv But I'll never forget How Humble Curtis was, He was a real cool cat. My heart goes out to Mrs. Noel and Garvin. Your son was a great man Mrs. Noel who touch everybody who had the pleasure of meeting him. MAY GOD COMFORT YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.

I will never forget how I use to look forward to the weekends when I would spend time with my cousin Lisa Dalrymple at her house on Croes Avenue in the Bronx, the reason being was because I knew that I would see Curtis aka "Curt Flirt". Curtis was just so funny and he made me laugh constantly, even when he was serious he was funny. I can see him passing through the block stopping by say "Was up Yo!" I will always remember you Curtis.

The last time I saw Curtis was on the day of my baby shower (August 18, 2001). Who would have ever thought that would be the last time. My sister kept in touch with him more often than I did. But I miss him just as much. For the woman who said that she was looking at the pic of Curtis and saw a cross, I just want you to know that he is an Angel. He is his mother's guardian angel. He's with her all the time. I have a picture to prove it. I just want to thank Curtis for joining us that night and letting his mom know that he is always with her. She misses him so much it's unbearable.

We miss you Curtis, thanks for hanging around.

Love,
Lisa

I never knew Curtis, and never will. But I just wanted to say that he will be in my heart because of many little acts of kindness that I have witnessed. During my high school's tribute assembly to 9/11, we were asked to take something at the end. What did we take? A name of someone who died on this horrific day. A name to make this tragedy seem real. I recieved Curtis Terrence Noel. And I wanted the family to know that I believe Curtis is just as much a hero as any fireman, policeman, or EMT because he gave his life selflessly. He gave his life so ours could be a little better in the end. I'm sorry for your loss, and Curits will be be in my prayers.

Curtis and I were good friends all thru high school. We never dated, but 1 week before the prom, he asked me to attend with him. I glady accepted because Curtis was such a great guy. After high school I moved to Savannah, but Curtis and I always kept in touch. We would call each other about once a month or every few months. We would just catch up on current events and our personal lives. The last time I saw curtis, he came to visit me in Atlanta, Ga. were I was attending school. I always new that Curtis was some one I could count on and depend on. It wasn't until the next day, that I realized that Curtis worked in the trade center, but i still can't believe that he is gone. I will always love him as one of my closes friends.

THERE ISN'T A DAY THAT PASSES THAT MY THOUGHTS DOESN'T RUN ON CURTIS. I KNEW OF HIM FOR A LONG TIME BEING THAT MY BROTHER JEFFREY WAS GOOD FRIEND WITH HIS UNCLE WALTER AND BROTHER MIKE, BUT WHEN WE BECAME FRIENDS IT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE. WHEN EVER I WAS FEELING DOWN OR UPSET, I COULD ALWAYS COUNT ON CURT TO LIFT MY SPIRITS AND PUT A BIG SMILE ON MY FACE. HE ALWAYS GAVE LOGICAL AND SOUND ADVISE AND WAS ALWAYS THERE TO GIVE A HELPING HAND,I'LL ALWAYS MISS HIM FOR THAT. THERE'S ONE THING THAT HE USE TO DO THAT I'LL REALLY MISS A LOT AND THAT WAS, HE'D PASS BY MY HOUSE JUST TO SAY HI BUT HE'D ALWAYS KEEP HIS WINDOW HIGH SO JUST HIS EYES AND THE TOP OF HIS HEAD WOULD SHOW...WOW IT FELT LIKE JUST YESTERDAY. BUT I PRAY THAT GOD MAY HAVE TAKEN CURTIS'S SOUL AND ONE DAY WE WILL ALL MEET AGAIN AND MAY GOD CONTINUE TO GIVE HIS FAMILY AND FRIEND STRENGHT. LET'S REMEMBER THE JOY HE USE TO BRING US. LUV YOU ALWAYS "KILLA" CURT!!

I didn't have the privilege of knowing Curtis but I had the privilege of making his (and his girlfriend's) quilt square for the 9/11 United in Memory Quilt Project. I chose to do Curtis's square because I connected with him after reading things about him and Aisha from the internet. I hope the quilt will bring some comfort to his family and friends. My heart goes out to you.

I never met Curtis face to face, but dealt with him often. The company I worked for partitioned the GenTel switch. Curtis was always friendly and helpful. I always enjoyed speaking to him. I was deeply saddened when I learned that he lost his life on 9/11 along with the other friends I had made at General Telecom. I think of them often and miss them all. God Bless them.

I would first like to say I'm sorry for your lost. But this accured to me while I was looking through the pictures, I take that back something cought my eye is what it was. Look at the picture of Curtis the first where he is wearing a plad shirt. From his forehead to his nose is a cross. You dont have to look close I can see it from far away. I take it as he's saying he's ok. i just wanted to shared this with his family and friends who didn't see it. God Bless Ya'll.

We are very sorry for your loss of Curtis and his girlfriend Aisha. Our hearts cry with you.

America Cries

We see your sorrow-

and our hearts cry....

We can not erase your pain

but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-

-the American people-

are beside you.

We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,

the strength that gives you courage,

and the words to lighten your spirits.

And when we are left speechless

may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts

to ease your sorrow.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-

-the American people-

face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
