My heart goes out to your family. Today a a friend of mine posted a picture of the 9/11 memorial and I saw Alan’s name. I decided to look up who he was. My condolences go out to whoever may read this and just know today in 2023 I am thinking and praying for all the family’s still grieving this unthinkable event. More than anything I wanted to tell Alan’s family that I’m thinking of all of you and praying for you all.

I do not know you and I have never met you but, I was given your name today at the 9/11 Bike Rally in DC. I came to the internet to know more about the person whose name I wore on my shirt. It sounds as if you were a wonderful person and a hero. I read a very loving tribute from your son with regards to you being his hero. How wonderful. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten. I am privileged to have your name and I hope with all my heart that your family has found a small amount of peace in the last 13 years. I know personally that you never forget as I lost my father when I was 18 but, you do figure out a way to go on. RIP Alan.

Dear Helen,
You were my best friend in grammar school and Alan and I worked together at Gristede's too. I was shocked, a couple of years after the event, to learn he was one of the victims of 911. I wanted to get in touch with you but didn't know how. You have all been in my prayers. He was a great guy.

Only yesterday I heard that Alan was lost on that terrible day six years ago. He was a wonderful person and I and a few of my Anistics colleagues knew him as our teacher in the mid 1980s. After work he would come over from the 1185 A&A office to guide us toward our A.R.M. certification. He was quite a person, a consummate professional and gentleman as well. My fellow A.R.M. students and I are all really saddened and pray that God will grant his family peace. We deeply respected him for his knowledge and his willingness to share that knowledge with us. He was one of those special people that made a difference.

It has been a long time since 9/11. I was biking today (5/6/07) on the North Country Trailway. I had gone about as far as I could and was going to sit on the next bench while my husband went further. I was gald for the rest and happy to read about Alan who the bench was decated to. I'm sure we have been great friends if ever we would have had our lives cross paths. Thank you all for the bench and the opportunity to sit with Alan!!

To the family of Alan Freidlander;
I have worked at A+A /Aon for more than 25 years and was one of the lucky people on that terrible day.
I had worked with + for Alan some years ago when A&A's insurance claims handling unit's were reorganised in to one dept headed by Alan.
I found him to be a gentlemen who, [unlike myself] always seemed to be in a good mood.
I was not a close friend of Alan's but I do remember him as a true professional and a gentlemen and I still think of him often.
Sincerly:

Dear Helen,
I thought that after a year I would be able to find the words to express my condolences and to pay tribute to the truly amazing person that you married. But even now, after 12 months, I'm at a total loss. We all spent a good week in London at the Alexander Howden training experience, and you and Alan were very kind to include me in the sightseeing activities. I hope you are coping the best you can. Please know that you are in my prayers. God Bless you and your family.

Dear Family,
I shall remember Alan's smile; what a gentleman.
The day before, he was visiting our floor, and as he passed my desk to leave, he called out "Hello" to me. And I called back, "Alan Friedlander!".
In my prayers always.

We did not know Alan, but my husband is the brother of Cam Sutton who works for Aon. I came across this on the internet and wanted to express our deepest sympathy. I have thought of all the lives lost that day and especially of the ones from my brother-in-laws office and it still hurts deeply. Our deepest deepest sympathy to the family.

I was one of the scores of teachers who visited AON in the summer of 2001. I met Alan who had organized the tour. I thought he presented himself as genuinely interested in Education. He was gentle , kind and courteous. May his soul rest in peace.

Alan - I will always remember you from A&A 1185 and how much fun you were to talk to. Although I worked in the Loss Prevention Department, we were able to at least be friends. We lost many coworkers in this tragedy but not a day goes by that I will forget you and everyone else.

Dear Friedlander Family,
My heart aches as I read the biography of your husband, father and friend. I hope you will take comfort in knowing that your country will remember your sacrifice, as untimely and unwilling as it may have been. I proudly serve in the USAF and have been especially torn by this horrific tragedy. As a small token of remembrance, I have become a part of the Memorial Flag Project
and have been blessed with being chosen to stitch Alan's name on my portion of the flag. I consider it an honor...and hope you have the chance to see the completed project with his name on it someday soon. Being able to see Alan's photo and reading something of his life, brings special meaning as I work on this project. God Bless America!

Father we entrust our brother Alan to your mercy. You loved him greatly in this life: now that he is freed from all its cares, give him happiness and peace forever. Welcome him now into paradise where there will be no more sorrow, no more weeping or pain, but only peace and joy with Jesus your Son, and the Holy Spirit forever and ever.

I'm not really sure what to say except that...the horror of that day will live in all of our memories forever. It is one thing to think about the fact that so many people were lost, but it is completely another to think about those people as people, with lives and families etc. I hadn't had much interaction with Mr. Friedlander in the past few years, but from what I remember (through those 12 year old eyes and 6th grade attitudes) he was a very nice and caring man. And a great father. The Friedlander's have been and will continue to be in my prayers.

Friedlander Family,
When this tragedy occurred our church was giving out cards of the missing persons and I received Mr. Friedlander's. My family and I pray everyday for you and your family to find healing. As I read the entries in the guest book tears stream down my face. You must have wonderful memories, hold them close. I will continue to pray for you and your family.

Mr. Friedlander, I have never met you. My deep sympathies go out to all of your loved ones. As I mentioned, I never met you but you are a fellow Northern Westchester resident...you look very familiar...I may have possibly seen you at Taconic Road Runner events. From the sound of it, you touched many lives....I will have your family in my thoughts.

Dear Friedlander,
You were such a great person to work with. It is hard to believe that I won't see again in this lifetime. When I first met you when came over with the A&A merger I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to joke around you because you seemed to be a "by the book" person but boy was I wrong. I miss hearing you call me "BJ...H". You always remembered my birthday and I still wish I had that plant you gave me a few years back. It was so thoughtful of you to take a picture of that street sign in Arizona with my name on when you were on vacation with your family. I wish I still had that photo. My son liked the fact that you were a lefty like him. He asks about you too. I miss coming in & going to your office to tell you "Good Morning" or to just talk about stuff in general. It was a great pleasure working for you. Everytime I read a "Dilbert" cartoon I will think of you. You and your family will always be in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Alan,
We met because you had the concern and safety of your co-workers at heart and initiated the purchase of equipment to treat those experiencing a cardiac arrest. Our discussion was interupted by a call you received from Europe. It was your daughter and I could see how pleased you were to be speaking to her. There was no need to apologize as I admired your appreciation of the importance of family. In the short time of our meeting I learned that you were someone who sincerely cared about others. My company was proud to work with Aon and we met so many wonderful people, all thanks to you. My prayers are with you and your family.

Dearest Alan,
I was brought over to A&A from Jardine's. You interviewed me for the claims department. Then we where all brought over to Aon. Departments where changed and I was sent to another area. But when I came to Soledi with questions you still remembered me and always had a hello for me. You will be missed.

America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
