It was my honor to climb for Thomas in the Dallas 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb on 09/06/2014. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to learn about what an incredible person Thomas was and I consider myself blessed that I could climb with his picture around my neck. I will never forget Thomas or the others who made the ultimate sacrifice that day, or the ones who have passed away since from cancer and other illnesses. Thank you to the family of Thomas Mingione, his legacy will carry on.

Kansas City Missouri held it's 2nd annual memorial stair climb in remembrance of fallen firefighters on 9-11. My husband was honored to climb 110 flights of stairs, full gear, for Mr. Mingione. I would love to share pictures with Thomas's family.

It took me a little bit of searching to find the name of the man with the big eyes as he went up the stairs of the WWC as people were going down. For some reason this picture keeps coming back to me in numerous places. I can see in his eyes that he was a man who loved life and didn't think twice to go up the stairs of a burning building. That day we lost many people too soon, Thomas included and I hope, as the 10 yr anniversary has just passed, that you have found some solace in knowing that he saved many lives that day. And for his daughter that he never met, you now have an angel looking over you. My thoughts and sympathies are with you- even 10 yrs later.

My name is Steve and I'm a firefighter in Plano, Texas, Plano Fire Rescue. I wanted to share that I had the pleasure and honor to represent Thomas Mingione in the Dallas 9-11 Memorial Stair Climb on 9/11/11. 343 firefighters climbed 110 floors in honor of the 343 fallen FDNY brothers that gave the ultimate sacrifice that others may live. Thank you Thomas for your heroism and courage. Though the climb was very difficult, I thought of you and your fallen brothers and pressed on. I was proud to climb in honor of you.

I finally got to see a picture of your beautiful Amanda! Please continue to be her angel and know that I will always hold a special place in my heart for you......Desiree'

I never knew Tom personally, i only know him from his legacy and memories ive read online today. For Tom and his family id like them to know that i honored his name by participating in a firefighter stair climb at the trans america building in San Francisco CA. The event was full of firefighters in full turnout gear that climbed in honor of all of the 343 firefighters that passed away so suddenly 10 years ago today. I was chosen to represent and honor Tom today in which i climbed 96 flights of stairs to show my dedication and appreciation for everything Tom stood for. Being only 23 years old and working on achieving a career in the fire service i was completely humbled and proud to climb in his name. Thank you Tom for your memories and your sacrifice you gave to the people in this world, may we never forget you
Sincerely

I just read the article in Newsday and it brought me to tears. Tommy was a great guy with so much love to give. So sad he was taken so soon from his family. I can't believe ten years has passed.

I knew Thomas and the Mingione family long before 9/11. We grew up two houses away from each other. We did everything together from touch football to snowball fights. Thomas and I would play basketball against his brother Richie and Joe Traina from down the block. Those were great days. The last time I saw him I was working the St Patricks parade in March of 2001 Im an NYPD sgt. and Thomas was a police officer for the NYPD before he was a fireman. He was marching with the FDNY we hugged and talked for a few moments I called him a traitor for going to FD. We were friends for life. I will never forget him. I think of Jennifer as the sister that I never had. We are both only children and found each other while in Residency in NSUH in Manhasset. I was with Jennifer the night that she met Tommy at the OBI on Oak Beach Long Island. She glowed from that night on as they courted, got engaged, then married and I was honored to be her maid of honor in their beautiful wedding. The day of their wedding poured rain in the morning, but as soon as they were married in Jen's childhood church, the sun came out so they were able to take the most beautiful pictures.. She learned they were expecting their first child early in 2001...and that glow she carried was last seen by me on the evening of September 11th when we had dinner together after she was finished seeing patients, and at that time word was that Tommy's ladder company was in contact with the firehouse just before noon leading us all to believe he was involved in the rescue efforts after the towers came down and was unable to contact Jennifer....that information proved to obviously be wrong when Jennifer received a call @ 1AM that he was "missing" when she called me to tell me the awful news.
Amanda was born to Jennifer and an array of pictures of her father later that year. I have been there for all of the milestones Amanda has reached which are always bittersweet without the presence of her father. Our daughters are 5 years apart and my daughter thinks the world of Amanda, as we all did Tommy, and had Amanda known him there is no doubt in my mind he would have been her HERO as he is and always has been to all of us and to all that he saved in that fateful morning on Septmeber 11, 2001.

I went to school with Tommy and remember that he was a very nice guy with many friends. We knew each other but we were not close. I was very shy in school and kept mostly to myself. I was terribly saddened to hear the news that he was lost on that horrific day. I just wanted to let the family know that on every 9/11 anniversary my thoughts and prayers go out to you. May you have peace knowing that Thomas is resting with the Lord and that someday you will be together.

Was overjoyed to find out Chad & I were expecting our second child on Sept 11th...was even more excited when we found out we were having a boy. Mason Thomas is scheduled to be induced on the 10th & so help me God I will squeeze my legs until 12:01am on 9-11 to maybe give back a piece of what we lost in you. You're never forgotten even eight years later your laugh still rings in my ears.

Tommy another year goes by and still our hearts ache over your loss. Not a single day goes by without thoughts of you. We are left with the memory of your twinkling eyes and beautiful smile. How I wish we had the last Labor Day together but you had to work and left me a message that, had I only known, would be the last time I would hear your voice. Unfortunately I erased it never thinking what was to be. May you be resting in peace until we are together again. Love Aunt Rosie

To the Mingione family, we offer our most sincere condolences for your loss of Thomas. I'm sure this does little to relieve your anguish, but I had to share this with you. Our city had a memorial park on September 11th, 2003 with a field of flags. There was an American flag flying for each person who lost their life on September 11th. My family was able to get the flag that flew in honor of Thomas Mingione. We will forever remember his name and what he stood for and will never lose sight of what men like him have done for this country. God be with you.

Dear Uncle Tom,
I really miss you a lot. You were always very special to me. You were a very fun-loving guy. I remember when we used to play Gran Turismo 3 and you would always win being the Dodge Viper. I remember coming to your house and watching the Yankees games with Aunt Jen. I still have the plaque of Derek Jeter you gave me on August 6th 2001. I have it on my shelf along with the card and a picture of you and me. I love you very much and you were very special to me. I LOVE YOU!
Love,

Hello,
My name is Aubrey and i am 14 years old. I live in Valdosta, Ga and attend Lowndes High School, i am in the 9th grade. On the annivarsary of 9-11, our student council provided a bracelet for each student and teacher to wear, on these bracelets, was some to remember who was lost in 9-11 on my bracelet it said :
Thomas Mingione, USA firefighter, New York Fire Department, Reported missing, World Trade Center at/in building.
I was eager to get in touch with his family, or find any information at all on Thomas. I wish to say my sympathys and saddness, i have been overwhelmed with, because of these attacks. When i read my bracelet, a pit formed in my stomach, i felt so sad and even began to cry, knowing that he was lost, and many people were grieving because of it. I am sure he was a brave firefighter and did his job well. I looked up his name on the internet, to find...any information at all, i am determined to find out where i can reach his family members, so i can send them a card, a letter, anything. I may be only 14, and may live so far away from where the attacks were, but i felt just as emotional as anyone else. I guess i feel this way because, my dad is an airline pilot and could have easily been flying one of those planes and killed. He is now layed off due to 9-11, but hopes to come back soon.
Thank you so much for listening to what i had to say, and would love to talk to anyone that was close to Thomas. Thank you so much and God bless you all!

I feel I have to express my sincere condolences to you and your family, Tommy. Although I did not know you well in high school, I always knew you were the "nice" guy who always had a smile on his face. I was there on 9/11 and have such a pain in my heart for you and the others I knew. God Bless your wife and daughter and always watch over them.

Tommy,
Because my family moved from Long Island to Florida in the 70's, I do not have many adult memories with you. But I remember the summers you & your brothers spent with my family in Florida in 1979 and 1980. You will always be my favorite "Bowser"! We all think of you often. God Bless You.

As I sit here reading all the stories about heroism during 9/11, I am tearful and sad. I am thinking about the passing of my dad and, as I approach my 37th birthday tomorrow, am distraught with emotion. Months later, I am still brought to tears over this terrible tragedy.
I do not know Thomas, but think about people like him every day. I hope and pray for some type of sense of all of this one day, but until then, may we all live with the positive feelings and emotions of having known and loved such a wonderful person.

To the Mingione Family, please accept my heartfelt sympathies on the loss of your son, friend and a member of the Brotherhood. My husband is a 30 year retired Firefighter here in San Antonio. He retired about 7yrs ago. We've been married 37 years. In those years, while on duty I and our 2 daughters almost lost him trying to save others all in the line of duty. I can only imagine your grief. I am now a proud owner of a Mercy Band with your sons name on it. I bear his name daily and I pray for your family and friends on a daily basis. You see, I pray a Psalm a day for my daughters and now your son is my son in Jesus name. By Grace=( Gifts Received At Christ's Expense) your beloved son Thomas lives in heaven. He has gone to prepare a place for you to join him when the time comes. I hope to someday see him there as well. May the Peace of the Lord Be With You.

I grew up with Tommy since way before kindergarten, he was a very important part of my childhood that I will never forget. We used to play house and kickball on Thorman Lane all of the time. I still cannot believe that he is gone. The last time I saw him was at our class reunion, and luckily I did get a picture of him and I that I will cherish always. My heart breaks for him and his family. I would like to send my love and sincere sympathy to them all. I will never forget him and I will always be proud of what he did for all of those people on September 11th. I pray his daughter grows up knowing how truly special her Dad was.

When we all heard that you were missing in this terrible tragedy we couldn't believe it was true. It was the worst nightmare ever. Now that time has passed and your new baby is here and healthy we know that you are in a good place looking over her smiling with adoration. There are so many things about you that will be missed - your great personality, smile and way with people to mention a few. Your friends will miss you Tommy but you or what you did for all those you helped save will never be forgotten.

Dear Thomas,
Thank you for the sacrifice you made on September 11. I never met you, but I know you must have been a wonderful caring man to become a firefighter. I believe you became an Angel on September 11, and now there is a star in Heaven in your name.

We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
