To Lincoln and his dear friends and family. Yesterday, Sept. 29th, 2019, I participated in the first Highlands County stair climb for the fallen firefighter hero's of 9/11. Everyone that participated picked a name from the 343 fallen firefighters and we were encouraged to research and remember our firefighter, of which Lincoln was the firefighter I was honored to remember. For every one of the 110 steps and the entire day thereafter I was thinking of Lincoln and all of the people touched by Lincoln's presence in the world and sending love and light to everyone touched by his life, past, present, and future. What a wonderful husband, father, son, friend: his legacy lives on and I will never forget. Kind Regards.

I didn't know Lincoln Quappe but Charlie and Heidi Quappe were once my neighbors in Camden, Delaware. When someone told me that Charlie's son lost his life on that fateful day, I have made a point of waiting for Lincoln's name to be read on every 9/11 tribute. Prayers have gone out to Lincoln's family ever since. I am thankful for this hero's sacrifice. God bless.

While standing at the memorial I was fortunate enough to overhear a relative of Lincoln's tell about her last memory of him. At a family reunion at the beach, one of the young cousins started to struggle in the ocean. Lincoln swam out and rescued the boy. Her last memory of Lincoln was of him carrying his cousin out of the ocean, “like the hero he always was.”

What I've read about Lincoln in the Guest Book confirms every wonderful thing I imagined he must have been, for I met Jane and her children this weekend at her 50th birthday. I worked as a waiter; I'm a 9-11 survivor and wept when I learned of their loss before the event. Singularly kind people are rare; Jane and her children are; so too must have been Lincoln; taken too soon. G*d bless Lincoln; G*d bless the Quappe family.

I never knew Lincoln, but a good friend here in Louisville was his teacher in Bellport and he was good friends with Lincolns mother when they lived in Bellport before he moved to Kentucky. I visited Rescue 2 in May 2002 and was treated wonderfully. I have carried the names of the Rescue 2 firefighters in my wallet for 11 years now and probably will forever. I hope their families find peace.

I recently visited the memorial in New York. I had taken a picture of it and today decided to research the names in my picture, one of which was Lincoln Quappe. I am touched by each story I have found on these men (all who were firefighters). My thoughts are with all of you.

This past Sunday, September 11, 2011, I also participated in a 110 story stair climb in Georgia. We were given a photo of a firefighter to wear as we made our climb, and I was given Lincoln's name and photo. I am a government employee/civilian but many of the firefighters I work with participated in full gear. It was a very humbling and moving experience. I am honored that I was able to wear Lincoln's photo and represent him. May God bless the Quappe family.

At one of the many tributes following 9/11, I drew the name Lincoln Quappe (missing/presumed dead) as someone I would pray for and honor in memory of the horrendous attacks on NYC. I had a gold-colored "name tag" made with Mr. Quappe's name, FDNY station number and the date "9/11/01." Every year I have worn that lapel tag to work, the grocery store, library...and received many questions & comments. Last night, we got the word that Bin Laden has been brought to justice. I will now retire the pin with Mr. Quappe's name, but I will never forget his sacrifice and honor. God bless his family, friends and FDNY for their courage. You have supporters who still send you love and good wishes from all over the country. I know you'll never forget, and neither will we.

Shortly after the attacks, a small company was selling sterling bracelets with the names of people who died that terrible day. You could pick a specific name or have them send a random one. I requested a fire fighter from NY. I got Lincoln's name. For one year after receiving the bracelet, I prayed for him, his family, his friends and his family at the fire house each and every night. I wore it non-stop for 2 years. Now, reflecting on that day, I pulled out my bracelet and decided to google his name, never thinking I would find a page for him. To his friends and family, there was a woman in Colorado who knew nothing about him, but he was in her thoughts daily.I have often thought of traveling to NY to try and find his fire house, not knowing even where to start. The country thanks you for your sacrifice and courage Lincoln. And bless those you had to leave behind.

When the attack occurred, I heard about the firemen and their sacrifice, but in the wealth of information coming in, I did not really understand it. Months later I looked at the September 11 Memorial on the CNN website, which displays photos of the victims. I noticed several were in black and white, showing men in some sort of uniform. I began to read about them and only then realized how many firemen gave their lives that day. A great sadness came over me and for the first time the whole tragedy became real for me. Even now, I sometimes return to the CNN site to remind myself of how much they gave and how much they are missed.

i am a firefighter/engineer in jacksonville,fl.on 9/11/02 our dept. was involved in a event honoring all the fallen brothers of the tragedy of 9/11/01 called "brother to brother".in short,343 of my fellow firefighters(matching the exact number of our fallen brothers in new york)was given a name by random, of a fallen brother in new york & we marched through our downtown to the park where we read the name of the fallen brother whom we represented.i read the name of lincoln quappe(rescue 2).this, for me, was not enough.i wanted to relate to the person whose name i read.so, in my endeavor, i found this website & a picture & brief summary about him & was compelled to write something here.i feel close to lincoln, although i never knew him.just as i,i know he loved his wife & family dearly, for these are the very reasons for which we get up every day & drag our behinds to the fire station.they are our hearts.i`m sure i`ll never be able to know the grief the family has had to deal with, but know this.we are all (firefighters)cut from the same cloth as lincoln & his sacifice will serve as an inspiration to many as well as to all of his fellow brothers for generations to come. he will never be forgotten!!!! i will take his picture & burn a candle for "a true hero of mine".lincoln quappe`.god bless you brother & your family & may god watch over you & yours.we will always remember,we will never, ever forget!!!!!!

IT SEEMS THAT LINCOLN WAS A GREAT JOKER, BUT A VERY DEDICATED FIREFIGHTER, FATHER AND HUSBAND. I THANK THE PEOPLE AT RESCUE 2 FOR SHARING THE TIME WITH US WHEN WE VISITED. PEACE, KENTUCKY

To the family of Lincoln Quappe:
I am honored to have received a 911 bracelet with Lincoln's name on it. I have chosen to give this bracelet with your hero's name on it to my hero, my mother. As we are both members of the EMS family this is even more special.
God must have a bigger and better plan for Lincoln for choosing him so early. May God and Lincoln watch over your family and know that he has touched hearts all the way to California where he will be remembered always.

To Lincoln's family,
I have received Lincoln's name on one of the 9.11 bracelets I have ordered. I have decided to order a bracelet for everyone of my loved ones who mean as much to me....as Lincoln did to you. I will choose very carefully who this will be given to....I would wear it, but I have decided that the order of MY loved ones will receive the names of your loved ones in the order I receive them. This is only a small way of trying to help with some of the funds set up for your families....but more importantly getting as many of these brave souls names out into the public. I am glad we receive these at random...because at random God chose each and every person because of their importance in our history. I have lost family in an instant...my mother....and I know the shock, pain, disbelief, and anguish one suffers. Time heals... and while we don't understand the reason now....we will someday when we are all together again. Thank you for allowing us to honor your Lincoln. You are in my prayers,
Julie

Dear Lincoln,
My Hero. My mentor. My inspiration. God Bless you and all of our other fallen brother firefighers . You are dearly missed and never forgotten!! For all the good times and high spirit you brought your family and friends. Although it has been almost five months from the tragic events of Sept. 11 there has never been a day you and your family have not been in my thoughts and prayers. Things at the Sayville Fire House have not been the same without you there, however; we all know your in theTrusted Hands of God. There is so much more I'd like to say but not enough time and space to say it. One last comment as we all raise our "longnecks" to salute you "This Buds For You!!" God Bless you Lincoln Quappe, you will never be forgotten!!

We thank Lincoln very much for dedicating his life as a fire fighter to help others. Such a dedication comes with a huge heart that is full of warm and caring. We thank him tremendously for helping others. We are extremely sorry for your loss of Lincoln. Our hearts cry with you.
America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
