We visited the memorial on 10/26/2019 as part of my son's 13th birthday celebration in NY. He didn't want to go because he thought it might be too sad, but I told him we need to honor the people who lost their lives that day. He agreed, and the exact spot we came first up to was Robert's name, you see our surname is Regan too. We all where so shocked. Special prayers to Robert's family, and we will always cherish this memory.

Hi,
I've read some other messages from people on here and like some of them, I climbed in honor of Robert in the Lambeau stair climb today, 9/22/18. It was an honor to comemorate him, especially after I was able to read a little about him and his family. I pray that the Lord is with his family and all those who knew him. He is truly mussed by many.

On Saturday, September 9, I walked in honor of Lt. Robert M. Regan during the second annual Salem Fire Protection District 9/11 Memorial Service and Day in the Park held in Bryan Memorial Park, Salem, IL. Those of us who did the memorial walk of "110 stories" got to pick a picture of a person killed 16 years ago. I was honored to remember him. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I came to this site to find more information about his life. I promise to never forget and honor his legacy from this day forward.

Today in a very small school in the Arkansas Delta, I was handed a popsicle stick with Robert Regan's name written on it by a 7th grader. I was asked to reflect on the loss of Robert Regan and to honor him today. I have done so, and I thought those checking this site might want to know that his memory was honored today.

Dear Regen Family,
I am so sorry about your loss of 9-11. I read your story in Newsday. Although I was only 1 when the attacks happened, I do know what happened and I feel for the 2700 families who lost family members.
I think what you have done in your father’s memory was great especially because I’m athletic. A scholarship is a very good thing because it helps someone in need go to school. I wish you guys the best wishes.
Yours Truly,

Dear Regan Family,
I am a student at a Long Island Middle School. I was very touched by your story and am sorry for your loss. Robert sounded like a great man. He sounded like such a great father and apparently Little League coach. It is also so great that your community honored Robert with a baseball field.
Please stay strong and continue sharing your story with others.

We are two student in a Long Island middle school. We read your article and were very touched by your story. We are so sorry for your loss and understand your pain. You are not alone. Although we don't remember 9-11 very well, we still feel sad and understand the seriousness of the tragedy. Robert is such an inspiration to us, and you must be so proud of his accomplishments. It is so incredible that as a fireman, he risked his life to save others. It's obvious that he was an amazing person, because he put his not only did he put his family first, but he put people he didn't know before himself. It's great how he was able to balance family with his job, and make time to spend with his children. It's obvious that although he isn't here today,he has left a memory of himself in many others, especially you, Robert's family. It's amazing how strong you have been to say “everything will be OK throughout those 10 years without Robert. We are very thankful to have read your article, because we can now understand better what it was like for the families of the victims. Also, we will remember the story, and pass it on to help explain what had happened on that tragic day. We are especially thankful to the first responders, like Robert, who helped save lives. Even though we didn't understand it at the time, it has scarred us for life, and we will never forget those who put their lives in jeopardy to save others. We are very sorry for the loss of Robert. Stay strong, and continue to tell your story.

To The Family of Robert M. Regan,
Dear Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I wear a bracelet honoring Lt. Regan. I did not have the pleasure of knowing Lt. Regan personally, but from what I read about him, I think we would have laughed and enjoyed a beer together. I will never take off my bracelet. I pray my adult daughters always display his fortitude. God bless you and your family.

Dear Brendan,
It's been almost six years since I wrote in this guestbook. A lot has changed for me and for you, I am sure. You must be 18 now or close.
I moved from New Orleans and am now living on Staten Island and doing whatever I can to make sure that your Dad and his brothers are NEVER forgotten. I promise you that as long as I walk the earth, I will never let anyone forget them.
I hope that things are going very, very well for you. I know that your Dad is proud of you and is still with you the way that my best friend is still with me.
I'm making a webpage about your Dad right now at my website: http://www.the343.org. Check it out if you like. I'd be honored to add a picture of him if you and your Mom and Caitlin says it's alright.
All the best,

Donna,
On the 1st year anniversary of Sept. 11th I attended a special mass at St. Paul's Parish in Fenton, Missouri. During that service each of us were asked to come up on the altar & pick a name from a small wicker basket...I drew Lt. Robert Regan-Firefighter. Each month on the date of the 11th I say a special prayer for Robert. I have great faith that this man that protected us daily on earth is having a hand in trying to do the same from above. My deepest sympathy to you & your children. Please know that my prayers for Robert will continue on the 11th day of every month until eternity. I feel a certain bond with you as my oldest son is a Police Officer in Missouri.

Dear Donna and Family,
I first met Bobby when he was working for Gates in Mystic. We had a lot of fun together during the after hours. I'm the Fire Chief in Mystic and OH the crew he worked with and how he tried to'keep up' with the older guys. Artie, Ralph, Skip, Joe V., Harry the list goes on and on. I wear Bobby's bracelet and think of him and you, his family often always remembering the good times we shared. His greatest wish at that time was to get on the job with FDNY and get back home to be with his family. Wishing you the best and hoping that this finds you all well.
Thank you

Dear Donna, Caitlin and Brendan,
My name is Anita, and I am a volunteer Firefighter with the North Highlands Engine Company in Cold Spring New York. My Fire Dept was invited to participate in the annual Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers run/walk this year. Three of our firefighters ran the race (Jim Matero, Dave Winne, and Gene Garlepp) and I stood in the Brooklyn Battery tunnel with about 1000 other Firefighters. This year, the Siller family had 343 banners made up, with the names, faces, and companies of the firemen that died on Sept 11th. Donna, I was chosen to hold your husbands banner. When I received the banner, I stood back and took a good look at this man, Robert Regan. I smiled, looking at this intense Irish face, alot like my Fathers face. I was so very honored, and very proud, to be the one who carried his banner that day. For a person I had never met before, I felt like he was with me the whole day, like an angel standing right beside me, smiling with me, and crying with me.
I wanted to contact you and your family somehow, (so I hope this works), just to let you know what a blessing that day was for me.
Your respectfully,
Anita Prendergast NHFD

Here it is, 3 years later, and I am once again looking through the memorial list. I still haven't been able to get through the entire list. I am a fromer NYC EMT, and I worked with, grew up with, and went to school with ( I too am an OLC alumni, but Robert was older), many of the victims of that horrible day. I just want you to know that even though life has and does go on, as long as there is a breath in my body (and I know MANY feel the same way) 9/11, the victims, and their familes will NEVER be forgotten. GOD BLESS YOU

I knew you as I know a neighbor, to pass on the street and exchange a friendly hello and a smile, always a smile. As I would make my way home from the Bellerose station after my long commute from the World Trade Center, I would walk by, and there you would be, with your beautiful children and wife. I didn't know you well, but the way you lived your life speaks volumes and is a true testament of what a great man you are. A soulmate, a father, a friend, a neighbor, a coach, a firefighter, a savior... giving your life as Jesus did so that others may live. May God bless your family and grant them the peace and courage to live their lives as you would want.

A year has passed - it is so hard to believe. We miss Bobby so much. You should be so proud of him.
As you know, our son's admired your husband. Nick has his picture, poem and a picture of the World Trade Center over his bed. He thinks of him every day. He must have meant a whole lot to Nick for him to have created so a special spot for Bobby. What a gift he gave our children. They honored and respected him more than you will know.
We love all of you and think and pray for you each day.

Father we entrust our brother Robert to your mercy. You loved him greatly in this life: now that he is freed from all its cares, give him happiness and peace forever. Dear Brendan,
I read about you in the New York Times yesterday and wanted to write to you and express my condolences on the loss of your father, Robert M. Regan. It has taken a lot of courage for all of your family to stand up under the pressure that this tragedy has thrust upon you. I just know that you did it like champions and that your father is so proud of you.
I want to tell you also that your father is watching over all of you and that he wants for you to have a happy life, Brendan. Although, there were days at first when you may have doubted that, hopefully, you are beginning to see that you can feel happy again.
What I'm beginning to see from this tragedy and from some personal experiences lately is just how much of a continuum life and afterlife are and how close our loved ones in heaven are to us.
Keep talking to your Dad, Brendan, and you will feel just how close he is to you.
With prayers and love for your continued healing,
Renée

To the Regan Family,
My name is Lea Ann Parsley and I am an Olympic athlete with the United States Bobsled and Skeleton Federation. Because I am also a firefighter I was selected as one of 8 athletes to carry the WTC flag into the stadium during the opening ceremonies in Salt Lake City. It was with great honor that I wore a 9.11 bracelet with Robert's name on it.
I know our gesture may seem small, but know how much it meant to so many athletes to have a personal connection with our real heros of 9.11.
I think of you often and pray for God's blessings upon you.

To Robert's family,
My name is Julie and I live in Indiana.....I ordered a 9.11 bracelet as well, and received Robert to honor. I have ordered many of these bracelets mostly as a way to contribute to some of the funds set up for families like your own. I will be giving these as gifts to only very dear people....I wear another firefighter's name myself....but I want as many people as I can touch to know the heros who paid for our freedom. Your loss is tremendous....but your husband's name will be remembered over and over again all across our country. I hope that one day when you feel up to it you may want to let me know how you are doing, and share some more of Robert's life. I will choose carefully who will wear your husband's name because the honor is ours to cherish. Take care, my prayers are with you always.

Dear Donna-
I sent away for a 911 brass bracelet and today I received mine in the mail. It is your husband's name. Living in NYC and having witnesses the tragedy from my window as I live a very short distance away, there is never a day that I don't think about it. So my thoughts will always be from now on not just w/ the guys at my local firehouse (Ladder 5, Engine 24) but w/ you and your family as well.

I was at my mom's house recently looking through our Molloy '71 Yearbook and came across Bob's picture prompting me to write this note. I think one of the things that our education, upbringing and religion teach us is that each moment with family and friends is a gift to be enjoyed. I hope God gives you all the strength to go on and live the way Bob would want.

Dear Donna, Caitlin and Brendan,
My husband and I used to live on Duane Street, almost literally in the shadow of the Twin Towers. In my heart, I will always be a New Yorker, and those who died on 9/11 are family. And your husband and father is even more so -- I have a MercyBand with Robert's name on it. My five-year-old son wants to be a firefighter when he grows up, so I requested a band with the name of someone from the FDNY. It's a constant reminder to pray for Robert, and for you...and my son has already said that he wants the band when he's old enough to wear it, so there are many years of prayers coming. May God bless you all, even more than He has blessed you by giving you Robert, and may He give you strength.

Dear Bobby,
If they gave out medals in Heaven, you'd get the Purple Heart of Courage... But I know God has already rewarded you for your bravery, goodness, and kindness. In the midst of danger, your men and you remained, trying to comfort, save and help everyone... putting their lives first... and that will always make you a hero... like your family, friends and collegues have already known.
Bobby, I wish that 9/11/01 could have turned out so differently for you, your men and everyone that died that day. So many lives were cut short too soon. As you can see up above, so many lives will never be the same. You took a bit of everyone with you. You are terribly missed. I know you're at peace and you're happy & that is what counts... As an angel, please look after us.... Love, Nadia

Mrs. Regan my name is Betty Nielsen and I was the lady that came all the way from Iowa to make sure you receive a quilt made by another lady that wanted to bring you and your family comforted. I truely hope that the quilt that I brought to New York did bring you some comforted. I wanted you to know that Sept 11 hit us all bad and we all wanted to do something to try and make your life and others a little easier or to just let you know that we do care. Our heart broke inside when we were watching what was happening in New York. I live in a very small community and if something happens to someone we take the time to care and help. Though you may live thousands of miles away from me we still care and we still pray that the Lord will give you strength and guide you every step of the way. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. May the Lord bless you and give you strength.

I didn't know Bobby all that well. Met him a few times at ball games and at my brother Bob's house. What I do know, is that he was a man full of life and laughter. Besides risking his life as a Fire Fighter on a day to day basis, I also know that he was great with kids and volunteered his time as a coach with my brother. At Bobby's memorial service you got chills to know that one person could be loved so much. The crowd was never ending. I hope his family continues to feel the love and support from all those people and takes pride in knowing just how loved he was and not just by them. My deepest sympathy goes out to his wife and kids and I hope that in time the tears will be replaced by smiles and laughter for each memory they have. He'll will never truly die, in your hearts he will always be alive!!! God Bless you and your angel above

I hope the news holds true, that they have found Robert. The stories are amazing, firefighters working, refusing to stop until they were taken. These men put their lives out on a limb for regular people every day, but the families should never be forgotten, because they too make a tremendous sacrifice. Although months have passed, so many still continue to grieve together with you everyday, and it will be this way for a long, long time. After the media attention dies down, know that so many around the world will continue to grieve for years to come.

Dear Mrs. Regan and Family,
I never met you or your husband, but I wanted to express my deepest sympathy to you.
I believe there were many heroes on earth before September 11, and those heroes who perished are now Angels living with God.
I believe that was why the sky was so crytsal clear and blue on that fateful day, to make the journey, for the heroes who rose to Heaven, a peaceful and swift trip. A
Heroe your husband was and as we all know, heroes become Angels when they go to live with God.
Rest In Peace, Robert and may your family savor the wonderful memories they have of you, forever!
God Bless you Robert and your loved ones that were left behind.
