Thinking of you today, Juan. We met just once, but you were so obviously a kind and gifted young man. I´m grateful that Malinda introduced us. All these years later I remember you so clearly.

RIP JOHN JOHN-We had fun times playing ball and hanging out at the student center. You had a lethal jump shot. I still can't believe that you perish on that day bro.

We met and became cool in Spellman HS. But when we reconnected at Baruch we became family. I still recall the days in your crib with you and Hiri laughing all day. Or how you would find my classes and try to convince me to cut and play ball in free play in the gym on 23rd. I will always remember the fun times I had with you and the Elder crew. May you forever Rest In Peace my dude. ❤

You were my 1st friend, my cousin, more like my twin brother. We were born three months apart and grew up in the same house. We were baptized together. We had our first day of school together. We had our first communion together. You were my other half and while you are gone you are still a part of me, never to be forgotten. Words cannot tell how much I was blessed to know you. You were a gift to us. I thank God I got to spend my childhood and life with you. So, when I walk down the aisle where you would've walked me, when I have the son who will be named after you, or when you simply cross my mind I will carry you in my heart. I love and miss you...even ten years later.

Hey John John, it's been 10 years since that horrible day, my name is William Alexander Rivera, I'm the grandson of your father's brother Guillermo ”Willo” Rivera Maysonet, when we got the news about your passing we were devastated, my grandfather started thinking about your mom and dad, that now you are all together in heaven. I met your father in 1989, months before he passed away, he was a really funny and interesting person, the last time a saw him was in a news report where they interviewed him, still in his last days he was joking and smiling. It is so good to see all these messages that your friends leave for you here, the world lost a beautiful soul and I we lost a very important and loving family member, on behalf of your family in Carolina, Puerto Rico, God bless your soul always!

John, we didn't know each other very well or very long, but there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about you and your family. I remember how Malinda used to smile when she would tell me about the two of you growing up together: more brother and sister than cousins. You have a very loving family. Thank you for allowing me to hang out with you guys when I came to New York. My life has changed forever, for the better, from knowing you and your family. Thank you for being cool. Thank you for being friendly and welcoming. Energy cannot be destroyed. Your light will always shine on.

My dear, sweet, funny, John,
You are a part of me, my history, my core. There are memories only you and I shared that no one else will ever relate to. I'm thankful to have known you and shared our childhood together. Lil and I miss you. We will see you again.
Much love,

On this 5th Anniversary, Juan, you are especially remembered. Your name hangs on one of two large banners that flank the front of each side of our doors at Saint Anthony Shrine in Boston! I had the privilege of being your teacher when you entered first grade and I worked with Ms. Perez...then again in 6th grade and then in 8th....

Today, you and your dear family, are very much in my thoughts and in my prayers.

Rest in peace,

Brother John, O.F.M.

Dear John,

Although I bumped into you a few times throughout my life, I really did not know you well.

Although I never had the chance to really get to know you, you often always find a way into my prayers.

Although I know that your family and friends sorely miss you, I know you are in a better place then here.

Although many people may wonder if you really are in heaven, I know you are due to all my prayers.

For I have prayed for you enough to send you there two times over my friend.

Rest in Peace John....

Dearest John,

I will never forget the day I received the news. I prayed for you and your family. I prayed that wherever you were that you would not be suffering.

Then one evening while I was home and thinking of you, I felt this peace settle in my heart. Right then & there, I realized that you are safe because you are held in God's warm embrace. I believe you are among the clouds sprinkling God's love to all of us that were left behind. I will always remember you.

Dear John,

People say that things happen for a reason but I'm still looking for answers to this. There is not a time that goes by that I don't think of you and miss you tremendously. I will always, always remember our talks and times together. You were a very special person to me and I thank God for that sunny afternoon when I first saw you in our Photography class and then met you. I have so many happy memories....

Thank you for being such a wonderful, sweet and caring friend. I will always love you.

Dear John John:

I can remember the times we hung out and I must say that you are definitely one of a kind. I was told once that you said "Live like its your last day" and you definitely followed that rule.

I don't understand why this had to happen in our life time and why God decided to take you, but I now follow your rule by living life to the fullest.

May God bless your friends & family and I know that you are watching over all of us. I am grateful for having the opportunity to know such a wonderful person such as yourself.

Take care my friend. Peace and love.

IN OUR HEARTS

We thought of you with love today.

But that is nothing new.

We thought about you yesterday.

And days before that too.

We think of you in silence.

We often speak your name.

Now all we have is memories.

And your picture in a frame.

Your memory is our keepsake.

With which we'll never part.

God has you in his keeping.

We have you in our heart.

MERRY CHRISTMAS JOHN!

I can't believe that the person they were talking about in the spellman emails was you. When Dave told me it was you,my eyes filled with tears, then I saw the girls and Julio. and I think that was you telling me not to cry. I just recently went down to the sight and I couldn't stay there too long,it was too much. I can't believe it.

What I do believe is that you are an angel now, taking care of all of us. John, you brought the gang back together. Letty said that our reunion would have come and gone. But we think that it's you that's keeping us together.

I took it for granted that I would see you around the way in the summers and this time I regret not seeing you one last time. We bugged out John, you are tooo funny and we were all silly. You will always be in my heart and your memory is alive in all of your friends.

Give me a sign every once and a while that you are watching over us, ok.

This past weekend I attended a very traditional Sweet 16. The "caballeros" and the "damas" looked so beautiful and they performed several eloquent dance routines. All I could do is cry because I was reminded of the wonderful time I had in Mari's Sweet 16 in 1990. John was my partner (caballero) and he was the perfect gentleman.

As much as I tease Mari for making us wear that shiny peach dress and for making us have countless rehearsals, I find myself thanking her and my friends for creating such beautiful memories that will always be treasured.

You are truly missed John and we will always honor you for being a good friend. You have reunited us and I know that you are here with us in spirit.

Until we are all reunited, rest in peace.

Love,

Melanie

America Cries

We see your sorrow-

and our hearts cry....

We can not erase your pain

but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-

-the American people-

are beside you.

We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,

the strength that gives you courage,

and the words to lighten your spirits.

And when we are left speechless

may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts

to ease your sorrow.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-

-the American people-

face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

We had some great times in high school, especially our senior year. I could still hear how you tease me endlessly about having so many "McDonald" stuff at my house. We miss you so very much and I will always keep you close to my heart. You will always be in my thoughts and prayers. Love You!!!
