We send our sincere condolences to your family for such a sad loss. Everyday may God give the needed help to cope. Woody is still sadly missed and will always be remembered. May the time come when these acts of violence are ended for all time.

Sept 11 is always such a moving and emotional day for me. My buddy Woody Woodwell was taken away. Our country has not been the same nor ever will. His family and friends were all deeply affected by this event. Woody has become my emotional focus for the events that day. His memory for me gets more vivid each year. Peace.

I am thinking of Woody today. What a great guy. You could not ask for a better person to work with. Always willing to help out, at work or out of work. He was a great friend and a true gentleman.

Woody, I miss you. I remember when you and Linda started dating. I remember when 'lil Richard came into the world. I remember your good humor and constant support. The world would be a better place if you were still with us. I'm still here in Chicago, buddy. I salute you.

I thought about you all day Woody. As I watched the video I couldn't help but be reminded of you and some of the times we spent together. All respect to you Woody.

Woody was a classmate of mine at Dartmouth College. I remember him with a quick wit, great sense of humor and a kind of sly grin. The story I remember most is when we were on a foreign study program in Mexico during our senior year and were staying in a cheap hotel in Oaxaca. Each night we were up late working on term papers. Like most cheap hotels in the tropics this one had its share of roaches. I suppose they were used to have their run of the room late at night in the dark because by the third night they revolted. They just started coming out into the light. They were really big. And they could fly. We’d never seen that before and we didn’t like it at all. After a while Woody said to me, “Don’t worry, they don’t get up on the beds.” We then looked at each other and laughed about how ridiculous that was. After all, how could bugs know to respect our bed space? We made it through the night, of course. We didn't keep in touch after college but I remember Woody fondly and miss him.

I was once again thinking of you Woody. I can't help but be sad when thinking of your passing. You are a truly wonderful guy, a kind, patient and generous man. Many times when I catch myself feeling low I think back to our breakfasts, or parties, or simply business meetings and I immediately cheer up. Your smile and gentle manner is the mover of my mood.

God bless you Woody, your memory continues to influence those of us still on our eartly walk.

Woody was one of the greatest guys I have had the pleasure of working with in the financial arena. A true nice guy. A class act. Missed by all who knew him, i'm sure.

Dear Woody,

Still hearing in my head your familiar greeting as you called to talk to Jim...I knew Woody for 8 years, and talked to him near daily as I answer phones for our investment management company. He was always gentle, never impatient (contrary to that vision of the hardened NY trader :))and it still so hard to believe that he is gone.

A gentleman to the core, you and your compatriots who perished are missed by those who had the honor of knowing you all - you will remain with us always.

I miss my friend Woody very much. When watching the WTC burn, I prayed

for his safety, when watching the towers collapse, I prayed for his escape. Once learning he had not made it, I remembered the moments when praying, and how they had gone

unaswered. I still pray for him, for

the peaceful and everlasting repose

of his soul, and that one day we shall meet again, at the Gates of St. Peter, the entrance of peaceful heaven. And I will say to him that my prayers went answered, and that I

was forever moved to become more like he was with my remaining days on mortal earth. I became more patient, more generous to others, less envious of what I didn't have, and more grateful for what I do have.

Sometimes I cry when I think about what happened. Woody was a dear friend to me, one of over 20 years, and the pain in my heart and soul each time I remember his passing reminds me of how dearly I miss him. Good bye dear friend, until we meet again. Kenneth Epley

Woody was one of the classiest people I have met in the securities business. He taught me that you could succeed in our business by being open, straightforward, and trusting the other party. Before meeting him I was innately skeptical. But watching him operate showed me that not everyone was out strictly for themselves. His openness and honesty showed me a new way to deal with other people, and has allowed me to make many more lasting friendships in the industry.

I live in California, so I didn't get to see Woody very often. When I did see him, we spent much of the time talking about his children and family, and I know he took an active role in their lives.

Woody's death is a great loss to all those that knew him. I feel priveleged, however, to have had the opportunity to know him, and I plan to carry forward the lessons he taught me. I hope his family, and all those that knew him, will do the same.

America Cries

We see your sorrow-

and our hearts cry....

We can not erase your pain

but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-

-the American people-

are beside you.

We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,

the strength that gives you courage,

and the words to lighten your spirits.

And when we are left speechless

may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts

to ease your sorrow.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-

-the American people-

face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
