We still think of you and your family every year. You came to my sons preschool and twirled them around. I remember the day picking my son up at creative basic preschool asking if any parent was missing. And the school rallied around your family and your youngest son.
Thank you for the joy you brought my son.
Our thoughts are with your family.

It "is" so sad .. so many wonderful and helpful people suffered consequences, but we'll NEVER forget, our children will NEVER forget. Steve and family you're in our lives forever .. Thank you!

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

In September I sponsored a flag in the Healing Field at Floyd Bennet Field in Brooklyn, NY. I asked to receive my flag and it came in the mail today. What I did not realize was that each flag was specifically dedicated to a person that lost their life on September 11. The green ribbon that came with my flag was named for Steve Huczko. I did not know him, but as I look through the records of his name and accounts of his life, I am honored and quite touched to learn of his heroism. May God bless and watch over the Huczko family. There is now one more person in this world that will never forget him.

Through tears of sadness, I have read so many of the Portraits of Grief in the New York Times and also the larger picture that appeared each day on that page. The one I found most touching to me was the one of your youngest son and oldest daughter at the tree lighting ceremony at Rockerfellar Center. I cut that picture out and have it on my refrigerator. I look at it every day and though I will never forget that horrible day and the men and women like you who gave their lives so unselfishly, I keep that picture there as a constant reminder of all the children who lost a parent on that day.
May God take good care of you till we all meet again. God Bless you.

Dear Mrs Huczko & family,
I knew Steve thru a cousin from the
PAPD and a very good friend Sgt.Jeff
Baumbach. On the few occasions that
we had together many years ago we
did have lots of fun you were some-
one special with your sense of humor
and boy could we drink. Remember when we went to see Andrew Dice Clay
I don't think we ever stopped laugh-
ing all the way home. I never did
find out what was under your kilt at
Mike Warnocks Dad's party but you
can't blame me for trying. Linda W.
and I were deeply hurt and heart
broken to find out you just happened
to be there on that awful day. You
would be happy to know that Jeff and
I got in touch with each other after
all these years and speak of you all
the time as does Linda and I. Mostly
we laugh through our tears. May you
rest in peace. I also believe that
there has to be a bar up there and
your are having a beer or two or
three while you write out the
summons for the illegally parked
cars with a cig. hanging from your
mouth. You will be missed by a world
who THANKS YOU FOR GIVING YOUR LIFE
FOR ALL OF US.

We thank Steve for dedicating his life to protecting others as a police officer. Such a dedication comes with a warm and caring heart. May Steve's courage, life and love live on through those who love him. We are deeply sorry for your loss of Steve. Our hearts cry with you.
America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
