I worked with Ralph at AT&T (Bell Labs) and sat in an office next to Ralph (Holmdel). Ralph would always lend me a helping hand. I think of you often with fond memories.

My son and I were on a visit to the 9/11 Memorial last month when I came across a single white rose placed on Raphael Scorca's name. I captured a photo of this tribute along with many other photos while on the grounds. A little research after returning home I know just a small fragment of this man's life. Although I never met Mr. Scorca I will never forget that day or the touching tribute that is now a favorite photograph in my album. Peace be with his family and friends.

I met Ralph while working for AT&T, as a co-worker, friend and eventually his supervisor. Ralph was a tireless worker and a good friend who always extended a helping hand. We had lots of talks when he was "right-sized" from AT&T. I remember him calling me, excited about an opportunity to work for Marsh and McLennon. He asked me if I would write a letter of recommendation for him, which I gladly did. He got the job in large part to the letter I wrote. It may be true, but I believe that once he interviewed, they new that had an excellent candidate and a good man. I remember how excited he was when his first grandchild was born.

I played baseball with Ralph in the New York Yankee farm system way back in 1960. I knew Ralph was from New Jersey, but could never find him. Recently, I was at a sports banquet here in Los Angeles, and a player who played in the Yankee system then told me Ralph was from Nutley. I was elated, and was sure I could find him. Through the alumni at Nutley High School, I was put in contact with Joe Gilles who was in school with Ralph. He informed me this week that Ralph was in World Trade Center that horrible day. I hadn't seen or heard from Ralph since out baseball day, but I'm sure we would have talked for hours about the fun times we had as kids. I feel terrible that I missed him.

I was the WTC Lease Manager for the Port Authority, which afforded me the opportunity and honor of meeting and working with Ralph. A man who aways had a smile on his face and wanted to know when we were going to lunch (and Ralph knew all the good restarants to go to). I will deeply miss this gentle giant.

My maiden name was Petrella. Ralph and I went to Nutley High School together (Class of "58). We had lockers along side of each other and were friends all through high school. He will remain in my prayers.

Our deepest sympathy to Ralph's family. Our daughter and sister, Kristen Montanaro worked for Ralph and we have some comfort in knowing that, if possible, on that horrible day that Ralph was with Kristen and their other co-workers Mary Boffa and Martin Giovanazzo and other friends and they could comfort each other.
Kind regards during this difficult holiday season from Kristen's sisters Karen and Jamie and her Mom Ellen.

America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
