Frankie Serrano Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 29, 2001.
Anything for His Dog

When Frankie Serrano went shopping for Dino, he spared no expense. "He totally spoiled Dino," said Mr. Serrano's girlfriend, Kristen Gasiorowski. "All the toys he bought him, you can't imagine. It was like it was his child." In fact, Dino was a dog, a year-old Neopolitan mastiff who weighed in at 109 pounds and slept in a king-size dog bed.

Mr. Serrano, a telecommunications technician at Genuity, a network services provider, lived in Elizabeth, N.J., with his mother and his sister Angie. The three of them were to go to Puerto Rico on Sept. 14 to visit relatives, but Mr. Serrano was going to be back by Sept. 23, to spend his 25th birthday with Miss Gasiorowski.

His sport was bowling: he was a member of four leagues in Roselle, N.J. He liked music from the 50's and 60's, rooted for the Mets and the Giants, preferred to eat at McDonald's and dressed only in Ralph Lauren. "Anything else he wouldn't wear," said Ms. Gasiorowski, who now takes care of Dino. "It was kind of crazy and expensive."

It would take Mr. Serrano about half an hour, and four elevators, to get from the basement of 1 World Trade Center to his job on the 110th floor, where he worked in a room without windows. "We were the highest around-the-clock tenants," said his supervisor, Joseph Conti. "We were up there 365 days a year."

The family and friends of Frankie Serrano will not know me, but I wanted to share my connection with them as I will never forget him: One of my heartfelt memories of 9/11 actually occurred on the one year anniversary, 9/11/02. I was a member of the Portland Symphonic Choir. Choirs world wide participated in a “Rolling Requiem”, singing Mozart’s Requiem beginning at the time the first plane hit the tower in our own time zone. To honor those who had been lost in 9/11, each choir member wore the name of one of those who passed in the tragedy. I wore the name of Frankie Serrano and I will never forget his name. In 2016, my husband, son and his wife visited NYC and the 9/11 memorial and museum. One of the exhibits had a photo and biography of each person lost. I looked up Frankie Serrano and learned that he was a young man who loved his job and worked on a floor above where the airplane hit. He had a beloved dog and girlfriend. I cried as, although I’d never met him, I’d carried his name in my heart since learning it and wearing it 14 years earlier. I never knew this young man, but I will forever be touched by him and will always remember. My wish is to someday, somehow, contact his family and let them know he is not forgotten. I hope someone who loved Frankie sees this post.

Looking through the list of names i came across a fellow Serrano. Whether we were related or not, seeing a Serrano name on this list brings more hurtful feelings to the long list of name on whom i don't know. Not too many Serranos here in south texas and even fewer across america. God be with his family as well as all the families listed here.

Rest in Peace my Brother.. Although it's been 14 years already, your passing stays fresh in my mind and I'll always remember how we used to go back and forth every Sunday about who was gonna wear the # 80 Jerry Rice jersey when we played tackle football as kids.. We eventually sorted it out with you wearing yellow sweatpants, I wore black ones and we both rocked our #80 jersey.. Lol

It swells my eyes and chokes me up, every time.. My heart goes out to your family and to all those who lost someone 14 years ago, on this day.

I didn't know Frankie. I was in NYC in Feb. 2013 and visited the 9/11 Memorial site and took a picture. Today, I realized I had this picture so I thought I would share. I hope one of Frankie's family members sees this. RIP Frankie Serrano.

Frankie, you knew me as a kid, nothing more. however, you knew my dad, you were like a second son to him, especially after angel moved to florida. anyone who knows my dad knows that. the day of 9/11 we stared at the tv, all the while he vainly tried to call you. your family magnanimously asked him to be a pallbearer, and he was so incredibly touched that words can't describe it. you and all the people at GTE, genuity, and the other companies affected my family in ways that no one can understand. you were at the top of the world, literally, and its awful that you had to leave. our cat is even named after you. i'm so sorry that we didn't get to know each other better, and i'm so sorry to your family for their loss.

Haappy Birthday!!!

joelle barnes

September 16, 2007

my name is joelle, i want your family to see how though your Frankie is gone, he is still affecting people that never knew him. God has a way of speaking to people through others. I lost the love of my life 15 years ago, his name was Frankie. He sounds a lot like your Frankie. I'm sitting here crying at 2:15am Sept.16,2007. I'm asking God if my Frankie hears what I still say and how my heart aches still, my tears continue to flow. I type in Frankie forever under Yahoo and your guest book pops up. In that first entry it has the saying "If tears could build...", well 15 years ago I bought a stone and put it first at the cemetary and then in my garden. My stone reads If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane I'd walk up to Heaven and bring you home again. So, you see, your Frankie gave me my answer from God, my Frankie does still hear me..time goes by slowly..but i believe that angels breathe and that love will live on and never leave. To everyone that loves Frankie Serrano, know that someone who loves Frankie Morgillo sends her prayers. We are all a breathe away from our loved ones and they can hear us still.

Hey Bae,
I'm still thinking about you and of how much we loved each other back in High School. Those memories will always stay with me. I pray for you, your Mom and Angie all the time. Your sister loves you, you know. She always did. I haven't seen her though. I'm able to keep in touch but I wouldn't know what to say. I miss her and your Mom too. But I know they are okay. Including your beautiful niece which I know you and your Dad are watching over. I still can't beleive your not here. 6 Years ago today. I know your home now. That makes me feel better knowing that. I'll keep you in my prayers. Bye "Nose". :-)

Hey Cuz, I miss you! I have been going through really tough times and I just wish that you were here so that I can talk to you and tell you all the things that have happened in my life, so that if I would cry you can hug me like you always did, and in every hug that you gave me I always felt the love coming from your heart. I mean it's about to be five years and I can't stop thinking about it, you were like the brother I never had. I just wish that magically with all of the tears from the people that love you would bring you back but it's not going to. I always think of you and remember all those fun times we had because everything was perfect when you were around. I Love You and I Miss You So Much! R.I.P!

I just found out today that Frankie died. He was my first love, we were high school sweethearts back in 95. I was great friends with his sister Angie, his mom treated me like family. There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about Frankie, & to find out today after all these years not knowing....it hurts. We had the best times together. My heart goes out to Maria & Angie. The memories will always be with me Frankie, you are & will always be in my heart. It's true what they say "you never forget your FIRST LOVE" Rest In Peace Bae, until we meet again.

As 2 years and 2 months passes by, my cousin, which I loved as a brother, will stay in my heart and in my memories when it happened at first ,Sept.11,2001,I was in school and my father came to get me from school that was when he told me that we weren't sure if Frankie made it out.I started to cry a lot and I couldn't believe it it was like a nightmare. Frankie was one of my first cousins to cheer me up if something was wrong. I just can't express hoe much my cousin means to me.Even though he's in heaven I know he loves all of his family and friends and we all love him. R.I.P Frankie!!! It's been over a year and half but as I search the web this morning and undercover thousands upon thousands of memorials dedicated in memory of all those who past and survived that faitful day the horror seems all to clear. I work for the Lowndes County School System in Valdosta, Georgia, as a school psychologist. Our high school student council distributed paper bracelets to all faculty and staff in our district, with each having the name of a victim of the WTC tragedy. I got the name of Frankie Serrano, whom of course I do not know personally, but I have been reading about him on the internet at different websites (Puerto Rico Herald, Legacy.com, his company's website,etc.). He sounds like a wonderful, fun person, and I want his family to know that I will be praying for you all all day today and many times in the future. I know you miss him terribly, and I'm sure Dino misses him too. God bless Frankie.

First I would like to say to all of the Serrano family that I am truly sorry for what happened to Frankie on Sept 11 2002, and may god bless his soul. He is gone but will never be forgotten by many. I grew up in Elizabeth NJ, and went to school with Frankie at E-High. I remember him being a real good friend. Life can do alot to people, and Life pushed me away from many of my old friends, like Frankie. I remember him very well though. I had English class with him in 10th grade If I remember correctly, It was Mrs. Prebuit's class. Its ironic that we worked in the same building, but never knew it until the tragic event of Sept 11. I was an IT consultant for Keffe Bruyette & Woods financial firm for 3 months there in the summer of 2001. I cant even explain the anger I felt when I saw those 2 mighty buildings being destroyed, by some coward act of terrorism. I thank god everyday of my life for being alive, and getting another chance at life. I know that Frankie is still with us, in ways that we cant even imagine, weather it be a song you hear, a movie you see, or just a good memory. He will never be forgoten.

God bless you kid..... Your friend, Alex.

First and foremost god bless the Serrano family for their loss. We may have lost our brother, our son, our friend, but heaven has surely gained a wonderful angel. All my memories of Frankie contain nothing more than laughter. He was the jokester, the one who makes you laugh when you really wanted to cry. We had great times hangin' out, our road trips to Seaside, our dancin' at the parties, all of it...Thanks to him, I will always treasure the happiest moments in life...doing silly things that teenagers do...And may you always look down upon us and guard our souls cuz I know your watching us all. GOD BLESS YOU.

In Memory

Of

FRANKIE SERRANO

9-23-77 / 9-11-01

We were inseparable for years, and no matter what

There wasn’t a time when we couldn’t talk.

On September 11, 2001, I woke up

To a nightmare that still has yet to end.

It was an attack that put many

Lives to an end.

It is a moment of sadness and a lifetime

Of emptiness and loss.

As times has passed through these

Long days and lonely nights.

For many, it is a time of mourn,

A time for us to remember all of the

Good times and the love we have that

Will carry on with us forever.

They say that time heals a heart that’s aching,

Perhaps it’s not time that heals,

But a memory that lives on forever

In our hearts.

As nights go by I close my eyes

And all I see is you smiling & laughing.

At that moment I turn to you

And express my good-byes,

Although goodbyes are never easy,

No matter the distance,

You will always be close in heart.

Even though our friendship has been

Taken away, they cannot take the memories

that will last a lifetime.

When I think of hardship.

I’ll think of you.

When I think of laughter…

I will think of the little things that are most precious to me and yet priceless compared

To our friendship.

When I think of the times we shared, the tears we have cried.

You were there to secure that everything

Always had a better side.

I want you to know wherever you are…

You are never far from my heart.

You will always have a part in my life.

When I look up at the stars at night..

You will be my light that shines,

My guardian angel…

An angel that keeps on giving.

You will survive a legacy of memories never to

Be forgotten.

You were my friend for life and

You will be greatly missed.

You are in my heart forever.

My Corazon,

My Vida

My alma,

Vivires para siempre,

Y seremos amigos por una eternida

Love always,

Jennifer Correa

I knew Frankie from school. We were good friends. i'm glad i got the pleasure of being friends with him. He was an all around good guy never hurt anybody. My deepest sympathy goes out to the Serrano Family.
GOD LOOKED AROUND HIS GARDEN AND FOUND AN EMPTY PLACE. HE THEN LOOKED DOWN UPON THE EARTH AND SAW YOUR SMILING FACE. GOD PUT HIS ARM AROUND YOU HE LIFTED YOU TO REST. GODS GARDEN MUST BE BEAUTIFUL CUASE HE ONLY TAKES THE BEST. IF TEARS COULD BUILD A STAIRWAY, AND HEARTACHES COULD MAKE A LANE. I'D WALK A PATH TO HEAVEN AND BRING YOU BACK AGAIN.
FRANKIE MAY YOU BE GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN. MAY GOD KEEP YOU SAFE.

I never knew this man, nor any of his family. I am sending a prayer to all who were personally impacted by Frankie Serrano's spirit and life. I have a little sister who loves dogs so much. She mentions how the word dog spelled backwards is God. God Bless <><

I had the pleasure of being friends with Frankie. We didn't talk very often since I moved away, but he was always in my thoughts and prayers. Frankie was a kind and gentle man who always talked about his Mother and Sister. I couldn't believe when I heard he was gone because of this tragedy. I am an EMT and spent 3 days helping at ground zero for Frankie and all the other heros who lost their lives. To the Serrano Family you will always be in my thoughts and prayers and Frankie will never be forgotten.

First and foremost my heart goes out to the Serrano family as they will forever be in my prayers.. I remember Frankie in High School, he was an emphatic kid, and sought no wrong doing on anyone. May God bless and share the light upon his friends and family...

First, I'd like to send my deepest sympathies and condolenses to the Serrano family. Although I didn't know Frankie personally, I went to high school with him and he seemed to be a nice guy. I knew his sister Angie in high school and it was a pleasure to meet her as well. From what I heard of Frankie about what a great person he was I can honestly say that he will be missed and I'm very sorry for your loss. May God watch over the Serrano's and bless them with love and happiness always.

So very young. We are very sorry for your loss of Frankie.

America Cries

We see your sorrow-

and our hearts cry....

We can not erase your pain

but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-

-the American people-

are beside you.

We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,

the strength that gives you courage,

and the words to lighten your spirits.

And when we are left speechless

may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts

to ease your sorrow.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-

-the American people-

face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
