She liked flowers. She was joyful. She was nice. She worked hard. She was real.

Orasri always greeted me with a smile. It was always a pleasure to see her and I'm glad we were able to have a few classes together at NYU. I wish I had made more time to talk with you and get to know you better.

Orasri was one of my students when I was the Assistant to the Coordinator of International Students at NYU’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development. She was extremely nice and helpful. In particular, she would assist me setting up for the weekly teas that we gave for the International Students. In her last email, I remember her talking about her struggles with English and that an elderly couple told her that if she tried she would do well. Her last words were that she would do "her very best." She gave her best and set an example of kindness and service that I will always treasure. Thanks so much ... my prayers are with her family now.

Orasri and I were grad students at NYU and enjoyed many good laughs and great dinners together. She told me about her life in Thailand and I shared my NY upbringing with her. Her ability to make it in NYC, when English was a second language, showed the courage she had. Everything she did was done with a smile. I'll always remember her smile. Thanks Orasri!

As I cross-stitched your name on the memorial that I am doing for all of the victims, I prayed for you and your family. Please know that your death was not in vain. We will always remember. God Bless.

Orasri was my student at NYU, and she worked incredibly hard to keep up with a graduate-level writing class in a language that had almost nothing in common with her own. It was the last course she ever took, and I hope she liked it; I hope she heard the music of English. When I read in the New York Times tonight (less than 12 hours to the one-year anniversary of her senseless death) that she loved her new job at Windows on the World, it made me glad. It's painful but also nice to know that on that incredibly beautiful September morning--NYU degree in hand, first job under her belt, just 26 years old--Orasri didn't go to work dreading the drudgery, that she was excited about what lay ahead.

America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
