To all of Ken's family and friends and coworkers, I still think of Ken, and am so sorry for your loss, and appreciated the chance to work with Ken. I still feel so sad that, even though I was on the phone with Ken the morning of 9/11/2001, as we were planning adjustments to the interconnects at the Genuity POP at the World Trade Center, when he told me there was an emergency and he had to leave, and planned to go to the roof, that there couldn't have been a different outcome that day, one where no lives would have been lost. I hope that all of you are doing as well as possible, and hope that you find comfort and inspiration in your memories.

After all this time you and your co-workers are not forgotten, Ken. I think of and talk about you guys often in disaster preparedness classes. It hurts that we watched but couldn't help. May God comfort your family in your absence.

Growing up as a little girl Kenny as we all called him was one of my brother Alex's closest friends. They both attended Paramus Catholic High School in New Jersey. I remember he would always come over to our house after school and they would take me to the park. He was a very hard working, intelligent, and nice young man. After we moved my brother and him grew apart, but the day we saw his mother Marina on the news we were overcome with shock and sadness. We never expected that someone that we were once so close to could be gone right before our eyes for no reason, he was the victim of a horrible terroist act that should have never occurred. Sometimes we take for granted the people that we are so use to seeing or that we know are our friends no matter how rarely we speak to them that we don't take time out of our busy lives to see how they are doing, or just to reminesce. My family and I wish to express our deepest condolensces to Marina and the rest of the Lira family. Please senora if you read this message e-mail me. Kenny, a year has passed and you are still in our thoughts and prayers, we will always keep you there, and you will always be alive in our hearts, thank you for being such a great friend to my brother Alex and may you rest in peace and be among the angels where you belong.

America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
