Me and my kids
September 15, 2012
Dear Sheryl, although we never met, I just found this online and figured I'd send a thought your way in remembrance and I hope all is well with you and your your children(grand children?), my third cousins(!) My name is Joakim Örblom and my mom Brita Rosén(Örblom) was/is one the cousins of Ron's in Finland(Aland) that I'm sure you remember from earlier season post cards and even a get together in the -80. I believe even my big brother Jörgen came to visit you at one point. It would be tremendous if we could arrange to meet some time in the not too far future. It would mean alot if we at least could reconnect our families again, be it via email, facebook or any other electronic media. Google and you'll find us.
With kind and sincere regards,
Joakim Örblom with family

I think of Ron every day. He was my boss, friend, mentor and golf partner. It was truly my honor to have know him. He truly touched my life and some of the lessons learned from him have helped me throughout the years. I will never forget him

Dear Sheryl, My mom from Sweden Christina, daughter of Lilly Magnusson (Erik's sister) was Ronald's Cousin and today on 10th anniversary I felt I should send my condolences to you even if we never knew each other. I am so sorry for your loss. I have now been in New York 13 years and are now living only 2 blocks from ground cero. I hope you and your children are well.
I will be visiting ground cero this coming Saturday and promised to send the relatives back in Sweden a picture of his name at the memorial.
My thoughts are with you,
Sincerely
Louise Partington Olsson

Ronald Magnuson is not a common name...so when I heard it, I wondered if this was the wonderful little boy I taught in 3rd grade.
It was my first year teaching in Woods Road School, North Babylon, N.Y.
Ronald's best friend was Billy Brown; they loved school and were a joy to teach! They were just learning how to write paragraphs and Ronald eagerly described his new pet turtle. The story (and his pet) was entitled, "Turtle Soup"!
The year was 1957...so you can see what an impression Ronald made.
Whether it is the same Ronald Magnuson or not, please know your husband and father, and your family are in my prayers.
Sincerely, Kathleen

I lived in NYC on 9-11 and I took a photo of a sign posted by Ronald Magnuson's family, saying that he was missing. I never knew what happened to him until I looked him up online. I'm sorry to hear that he was lost that day. May he rest in peace.

Audrey, Sheryl and Jeff: I live around the corner from you at 17 King Road, though our families have never met, sadly. But, I wanted to let you know that, today, September 11, 2003, I received an errant phone call and message from Pat Grady. He said/recorded the following on our answering machine:
"Hi Audrey, and Jeff and Sheryl, it's Pat Grady. I just wanted to tell you that my thoughts and prayers are with you. I know it's not an easy day, but I'm sure your Dad, Ron, would have been very proud of you both today, and all of you, because you made him very proud being there in New York today.
God Bless You All-It's Pat Grady, take care."
That was the full message, no available phone number.
We also watched the ceremony today.
We look forward to meeting you.

This morning, at the exact minute of the anniversary, I went to church and received a name to pray for. A name though was not enough to enter into my prayers and I found this site to learn more about Ronald and the man he was. Today, I'll pray for him. I'll pray for his wife and two children, that their pain may lessen over the years and that they take comfort in knowing that throughout the country and the world strangers like myself are grieving with them and praying for their healing. God bless America.

We received a tree to plant in memory of Ronald E. Magnuson. We will plant his tree on 9/11/03 and name it Ronald in his memory. May it be a reminder of life and growth. God bless his family.

America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
