Glen Wall Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 31, 2001.
'Our Uncle, Our Friend'
The last person that Glen J. Wall would usually think of doing a favor for was Glen J. Wall. A senior vice president at Cantor Fitzgerald who lived in Rumson, N.J., Mr. Wall served as a cheerful, unofficial ticket broker, maître d'hôtel and savings and loan association (even though he let many a loan slide). But Mr. Wall, 39, was most in his element when he spent time with, or just talked to acquaintances about, his two daughters, Payton, 4, and Avery, 3. "He needed nothing," said his wife, Diane. "It was all for his girls."

A few of his nieces even wrote a poem about Mr. Wall for his memorial service that conveyed his zest for life:

His piggyback rides and dances
Had everyone waiting for a turn
Music from our hands
Was just one thing he helped us learn.
But the most important thing he taught us
Was to live life on the 'Bright Side of the Road'
And enjoy it while you can
You'll always be in our hearts and minds
Our uncle, our friend, Glen.

Our parish, St. Bartholomew´s here in San Mateo, California gathered on 9/11 in the evening for a mass and fellowship. We had a mass on 9/11/02. As we entered the church Father Dan was randomly handing out names of victims from our sister parish in New Jersey. He handed Glenn Wall´s card. At the mass the victims names were called and we each walked up and lit a candle for the person whose name we were given. Glenn Wall is never far from my thoughts. I carry the card with his name in my wallet. I pray for him, his family and friends and all the victims of 9/11. RIP. Sharron.

I'm very sorry for your lose, I did not know Glen, I recently was reviewing the names of people lost on that tragic day. Twenty years later it is still hard to believe what happened to our country and to the lives of so many people. When I saw Glen's last name I naturally wondered if we could be related to one another. My Father was Charles Wall Sr. and he grew up in Philadelphia and his Father Charles had many brothers who had sons that my father never knew. I would be ok with anyone that maybe related to reach out if interested. Sorry again for your lose.

Thinking of Glen, his family, and all the others today.

I ate many a delicious meal during my high school years that Jean Wall cooked. The Wall home was always warm and welcoming. I first met Glen when he was four years old...cute as could be and even sweeter. I imagine that Glen got the best of his parents' genes. Just great people.

I always pause on this date to remember the people I worked with at RMJ who were lost. Despite my short tenure there, I remember Glen's kindnesses and his willingness to reach out to "new guys" and old guys alike. He and all the others remain in my thoughts.

I just visited the memorial and my only picture has Glen's name in it. He sounds like a solid guy who I would've liked to have known from the bio posted here. Condolences.

I was given Glen's name at a prayer service yesterday, and I would like to say that I am deeply touched. Your family and the lives of those to whom this dear man reached out to are in my prayers. May you all find yourselves peace and harmony. I would like to dedicate one of my favorite prayers and send the angels to be with you.

Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God's love commits you here, ever this day, be at my side, to light and guard, to rule and guide, amen.

God bless you all.

It was about this time last year when I spoke to Glen. It had been awhile since we last spoke, but it was as though time had not passed. We caught up on each others growing families, and laughed about the old times, especially the basketball games with piers and the parties at the Polo Grounds. Glen, I am glad we had the chance to speak again, and for all the things you did as a business partner and friend. My deepest condolences to the Wall family. You will truly be missed.

Words are too weak to express the profound loss we feel. Anyone who ever met Glen was stricken with his pure kindness and ability to make life look beautiful. You can see his good work in the beauty coming from his childrens eyes. We will always charish the short time we were honored to be your friend and neighbor. We are honored to be part of Diane, Payton and Avery's lives. I will thank god for having known such an amazing person.

In love and friendship,

Alan and Susan Harry

Glen..it's been years..it was 1988 when I met you and Matt. I was dating your other best friend Adam, in fact you took me to my first concert - THE ROLLING STONES! You guys were like the three musketeers! I remember all the laughter, all the jokes, and most of all the love that you so graciously shared. I cherish those memories so deeply now. My heart is broken for you and Matt, but most of all for your families and the precious ones that are still here. I know that you are both in a better place, and I pray that God bless your families, and make his face shine upon them and be gracious to them and that He lift up His counteneance upon them and give them peace..

Love

I knew Glen so many years ago, however, he always remained dear in my heart. He was truly a special person who touched my life so wonderfully. I want to wish his family my sincerest condolences. I will never forget how incredible he was.
