I do not know Evelyn McKinnedy, but I wanted to look her up since my puppy was named after her. She and her littermates were all born on September 11, 2023 and named after 9/11 victims. God bless you, Evelyn. RIP.

20 years ago we lost you and I had just meet you a few years earlier. My mom, Amanda Cooper introduced you to the family on the trip to our family reunion! You were such a pleasant person and I had a new cousin whom I couldn't wait to spend more time with! May you SIHP, with all the 9/11 victims, and none of you will never be forgotten, sending love from your Cooper Family in NYC

I never knew Ms. McKinnedy. On November 23, 2018 I visited the 911 memorial with my mother and my daughters. As we stood by the fountain my daughter looked down at the names on the memorial and the first name she saw was Evelyn C. McKinnedy. My daughter's (and my mother's) name is Evelyn. I felt I needed to search Ms. McKinnedy's name to see who she was. My heart goes out to her family. God Bless all of you. Rest in peace Ms. Evelyn McKinnedy.

I worked with Evelyn at Abraham & Straus in Brooklyn in the 1970s and only today learned of her untimely death on that fateful day when America was attacked. She was a joyful woman who had no patience for fools yet always had a kind word for me. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

RIP Evelyn - even though I didn't know you I was given the honor to ride in your memory at the recent 10 year anniversary 911 Memorial Ride. Seems fitting I was assigned you, as I was in food services in the Air Force for a time. God Bless your family.

On September 11, 2002 I was one of thousands of singers participating in "Rolling Requiem" an International performance of Mozart's beautiful Requiem. I sang in the performance given in the Rotunda of the Capitol Building in Harrisburg, PA. Each performance began at 8:46 local time. Each participant was given a name in whose memory they were performing. My soul was Evelyn C. McKinnedy. I think of her often, wondering who she was,and what may have brought her to the towers that day.
May her soul rest in peace, and may God bring peace and understanding to the hearts of her family.

I had the absolute pleasure of working with Evelyn on the Observation Deck of Tower 2. One patron had told me (10/31/00, I remember the day!) she was the most memorable part of the trip! She was a kind, dedicated, but firey "speak-my-mind" person if there ever was one. She was the queen of the Sam Adams stand on the NE corner of the deck and would move any obstacle that got in her way to be there! And even when she couldn't get there, she would work hard and just be able to speak some very interesting phrases to get business moving. Her voice could often be heard above the din of the deck, looking to attract that customer! She was also kind and helpful to anyone that needed a hand. Those things what made her a great person and a friend. I wish I had one more time to talk that very special women.
God keep you Miss Evelyn.
Love, Tony

I didn't know this lady but I began to feel strangely close to her as I worked on the quilt block I designed
and made in her honor for the 9/11 Memorial Quilt Project. Others have reported similar feelings about
the persons they chose to honor in this way. Making the block somehow brought home the reality of
what we saw happening on our television screens. Finally I could cry. She and her family will remain in my prayers daily. God bless you all.
Evelyn was not a CEO or an exective of a big company. But what could be more important and needed than to help feed the thousands of hungry people who worked in Tower II. Evelyn was one of Aramark's 72 food service employees who died that terrible morning now forever
seared into our memories. She and her co-workers in Tower II were preparing for the day's work when
they witnessed the doomed flight that crashed into the other tower and quickly began their harrowing journey to safety 107 floors below them. Evelyn got as far as the first floor. And was then seen no more. An account of this was published in "Nation's Restaurant News" on October 15.
Evelyn was originally from Greeneville SC, the daughter of Ernest Burton of Greenville and the late Bertha Philander Burton. She is mourned also by her stepmother, 4 brothers, 2 sisters and her son,
William Michael McKinnedy. A memorial service was held to celebrate her life at Israel Metropolitan CME Church in Greeneville.
"May the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen."
