We are so sorry to hear of Dan's passing. My mother Joyce and father Bob always spoke so fondly of the friendships that they shared with Dan and Sue. I remember hanging with them and my parents at a wedding anniversary and Dan was such a fun loving and bright spirit. My dad told me of how when he and Dan were kids playing little league, Dan would joke that the only reason my dad made the team was because his dad was the coach. I am sorry we were unable to attend the services today. My father's memory issues have become more challenging and public events are difficult for him. I know my mom Joyce would have wanted to be there to support Sue and the family. Please know we send our love and we are truly sorry for your loss.

Dear Susan and your amazing Boys,
I had the pleasure of caring for "Dan the Man". You know as a caregiver you are supposed to be the one lending an ear and and shoulder but some how all conversation was turned away from Dan to what he could lift from our shoulders. The waiting room will forever be known as "Dan´s living room". I was fortunate enough to be able to spend many hours chatting with him about his amazing wife, his boys and the amazing grand children he loved so much. He also told me about his incredible sister in laws. I will forever be great full for the time I was able to spend with him and Susan they really were a great team. Susan you are in our hearts sending light and love to you in this incredible time of sadness. Every time I hear a train I will be thinking of Dan and his time with us on E Pod.
With love,
Kelly

So very sad not to this beautiful smiling face again. I know he is at peace and will be our next Angel, looking over Sue, and the family. I too had a nickname, DiDi. Dan gave 100% to our church and the entire congregation. Dan, until we meet again, we love and miss you, rest in peace. Diane and Jon.

Dan was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend. Dan went to HS with my dad, who has always spoken very highly of him. I'll miss his laughter, jokes and friendship. Rest easy Dan and God bless!!!

Danny was my longest Friend. He was a Brother to me. We had a lot of memories, laughs, fun, and good times together. I am extremely proud of the Man, Father, Grandfather, and the Family Man he became. I will love you forever. RIP Brother.

Every time I was visiting my friend Susan, across the street, Danny would come in the room and say "Callery, what are you doing here?!?". I am sure that at those Golden Gates, he will be standing there saying "Callery, what are you doing here?!?!" . Love and miss you Danny Hicks

Such a wonderful write up about Dan. He had a great sense of humor and just a wonderful person. We met him and Susan at many of our sons little league baseball games at Pantano Park. Mac and our son Jeff have remained good friends to this day. He will be greatly missed. May all the wonderful memories that you have of him give you peace and comfort. God has acquired another angel.

Such a sad day for us. The good Lord has him now and Dan is happy. I will forever remember how Dan could make an all-night trip to or from El Paso fun.

What a lovely memorial. Dan and I went to Catalina together and saw one another occasionally as he and my father worked together on the rails. He was a fine man with a heart of service. He will be missed.

I saw you in the book of today and with you was your smiling face, and so many folks we knew around you smiling back the words of grace. The view brought trembling tears to my eyes but the words of grace were these- " Fear not for are with thee be still and know Gods grace! Bob

Dan was one of the first people I met in Tucson. And he was a good friend throughout. I miss him, his nasty bud lights and olives, and the warmest greetings he would give all. "Dan Hicks, Tucson AZ" was as unique as he was kind. Witty as he was loving. He is truly someone I will always look up to as a model person.

Dan was a great friend. The people he touched is unmeasurable. He always was willing to help others in need. A true lifelong friend.
To the family, please know that he made a difference to so many. To know him was to love him.
Great teacher. Top Hand.

Danny you will be missed by so many! Your sense of humor was like no other and you could put a smile on anyones face at any time but when you were giving words of encouragement that great sense of humor turned to compassion and empathy which was probably one of your biggest attributes. I´ll never forget the few times we shared in a serious conversation and your support was heartfelt and sincere. Mac and Darren were so blessed to have you as their dad and that´s proof in the way they have grown into incredible men, of course it was a team effort and Susan played a huge roll in that. I love the way that you teased everyone, especially your young nieces and nephews who grew to love your witty ways but only after they were old enough to realize that you weren´t serious. I love you and will miss you.
