Donald Frederick MacLellan

MacLellan, Donald F of Arlington, MA passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Tuesday May 14th at the age of eighty-three. Donald was born in Medford, MA on December 11, 1940, son of the late Colin F. MacLellan and Sarah Mary (Boyd) MacLellan. Donald leaves behind his loving wife of 56 years Catherine Marie Judith "Judy" (MacKenzie) MacLellan. Donald was the beloved father of Colin AJ MacLellan and his wife Mary Anne "Mazy" of Atlanta, GA, Alasdair Shaw MacLellan of Arlington, and Ian Cameron MacLellan and his wife Sarah of Melrose. He was the world's best Grampa to Owen, Sadie, Colin "Brody" and Kenzie Maclellan. Donald is also survived by his adored sister Anne Marie MacLellan of Arlington. Donald was a loving father, grandfather, uncle, neighbor, treasured cousin, and dear friend to many. Donald grew up in Arlington and attended St. Agnes School. He graduated Matignon High School in 1958 and Suffolk University BA. He continued on to Suffolk University Law School and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1976.

Following high school, Donald served 3 years in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea during the Korean War. He also served 3 years in the reserve stateside. Donald worked for 25 Years for New England Telephone in Boston while practicing Law as his life passion. Donald was a well-respected criminal defense trial attorney for over 40 years, practicing in Cambridge, Boston, Somerville, and Malden.

Donald always had a smile on his face and will be remembered for his deep intellect, lengthy debates and always being there when help was needed. Donald was a devoted parishioner at St. Anthonys Shrine "Arch Street" and St. Columba in Lakevale Nova Scotia.

Donald's family would like to thank all those who helped support him, especially the doctors and staff at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Beth Israel/Lahey Hospice and the caring home health aides who helped make it possible to care for Donald at home.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday May 25th, at 10:00am at St. Agnes Church, 51 Medford St. in Arlington. Visiting Hours will be held prior to the mass, from 9:00am to 10:00am also at St. Agnes Church.



Donald will be buried near his home at St. Columba Cemetery, Lakevale, Nova Scotia in August. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Donald's name to The Lazarus Fund at St. Anthony's Shrine, 100 Arch, Street, Boston, MA 02110.
