To Ella's Family and church.
My sincere condolences to the family and I apologize for this late entry!
Ella visited our family in Prince Edward Island, Canada when I was growing up. She visited with my Dad's cousin from Chicago before I was born (or very young) and then visited us when in my teens when I was still living at home.
Ella had quite an effect on our family. in particular with my sisters and myself. She taught me that you should never be scared to explore the possibilities of what life has to offer.
I never forgot her and made a point of visiting Ella at her care home in 2019. I had a great time reconnecting with Ella. It was a real honour to know Ella. What a fabulous lady with such a great and fulfilled life.

Auntie Ella was my mother's older sister. She was well traveled and I always admired her for her independence and yearning for knowledge. She was always happy and gracious to us when we visited her in Hilo. She shared many stories of her adventures and love to send her favorite anthurium flowers.
We will miss her smiling face but our fond memories of her will live on.

Ella was my Auntie (mom's sister). I visited her in Washington DC in the late 70s during my spring break in community college. We visited lots of cool places. I admire how she left home and made her way on her own, successfully navigating college, career, and life, then retiring back to Hilo to care for her mom, and later, still traveling and taking classes. She was the auntie that always sent cards or letters for my birthday or interesting news clippings from the Hilo newspaper. I will always appreciate that even with two dozen nieces and nephews and all their kids that she always stayed in touch.

I loved Auntie Ella. She was my mom's older sister. I didn't see her often but when I did, she always made me smile and/or laugh. She was SO adventurous. She was always VERY supportive of me and sent tokens of her travels to me. I remember she sent a small jade cat statue once from her visit to Egypt. She also once told me, "don't move to Hilo". I miss her terribly and know she is in Heaven and all good. I appreciate everyone who sees this remembrance of her and makes a comment. Mahalo. This is our way to honor and never forget her. Image is at Carlina Care Home in Hilo with me (Christine) and my sister Debbie.

Ella was a dear friend of my mother's, for decades. My brother and I met her on one of her visits to the mainland, and from that point on, we kept in touch. We visited her every few years in Hilo, and she joined us for Thanksgiving one year in Lahaina. Ella and I practiced our Japanese together for years. She was a very kind person, and a special friend to my mother.
