ARTHUR LAFARO
May 29, 2022
First of all, my sincerest condolences to you and your family at this late date.
As a way of introduction my name is Art LaFaro, and I am from the Finger Lakes area of New York State. I knew your dad, Sal, from my work as an engineer at EG&G Wright Components in Phelps, NY. We were a division of EG&G Sealol. I thought of your dad today as I was eating some leftover calamari. I decided to google his name and came across his obituary. I have thought of him frequently over the years under similar circumstances. We were working on a project together around 1980 or so, I believe, for the Space Shuttle and I visited him in Providence, RI. He took me out to dinner to a tiny exclusive Italian restaurant in downtown Providence - valet parking, blue linen tablecloths. Wish I could remember the name. For an appetizer, your dad wanted me to try their calamari. I had never had it and never desired to try it. Anyway, it came to the table and not wanting to be impolite, I tried it. Long story short, I absolutely loved it and have eaten it ever since. No other calamari I have had since compares to this first experience. Hence recollections of your dad have remained with me ever since. I am saddened by his passing and after reading about his life, wish I could have had more experiences with him.
Sincerely,
Art LaFaro
