JARED LOUNSBURY Obituary

Jared William "Will" Lounsbury, 22, of Wellsboro, died on Thursday, May 6, 2021. He was the beloved grandson of Kathryn Johnson and godson of Peter J. Pagano. He will never know how much he will be missed by all those who loved him and found his wit and intelligence charming and interesting.
Born in Bethlehem on May 14, 1998, he is predeceased by his mother Amy Elizabeth Johnson; his paternal grandfather, William "Bill" Lounsbury of Bangor; his maternal grandfather, Robert Lynn Johnson and his uncle Kent Blakley.
Will was a true patriot - his dream during high school, was to join the U.S. Navy, see the world, study history. He was a WWII history buff, and planned eventually to be a history professor. Winston Churchill was his great hero. Will had been to the battlefields, particularly the air battles in England during the Battle of Britain. This interest in WWII aircraft inspired his 18 months of flying lessons when he was a teenager. He was planning a trip to the Normandy coast and the sites of the battles in France and Germany, including Berlin. His extended interest in history had recently expanded to include Greece and Italy, particularly Rome and Genoa, where he lived for a few months near the Via Antica Romana di Pegli (the Roman road).
Wellsboro also sparked his interest in local history that reached back to prehistoric times. He found a wealth of fossils around Tioga County while on his long hikes pursuing another interest - geology.
His personality was sunny. He whistled and sang all the way home from his job at McDonald's, where he had worked for almost four years. He really liked his job and his co-workers.
On the darkest, coldest winter days, he still enjoyed the walk to work in the pre-dawn hours because he looked forward to the sunrise, and in the spring and summer - -the dawn chorus of bird song.
Will was a 2016 graduate of Jenkintown High School. After graduation, he and his grandmother moved to Wellsboro - "paradise." He loved the mountains, the lakes, the scenery. He made friends with the people who ran the local shops, particularly "Tony's," the Roost, the Arcadia, the Frog Hut, the Wellsboro Diner, George's and of course, From My Shelf, the bookstore.
He is survived by his father, Jonathan Lounsbury of Bangor; his aunt, Julia Oliver-Clifner of Seattle, Washington; his great-aunt Rose Ann of Dallas, Texas; his uncles: Alexander Oliver-Clifner; Brett Blakley of Guthrie, Oklahoma; Sean Blakley of Houston, Texas; Robin Scott Johnson of Tempe, Arizona; John Hicks of Dallas, Texas; Joseph Lounsbury, Jamie Lounsbury and Jay Lounsbury, all of Bangor.
There will be a viewing on May 11, Tuesday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, 139 Main Street, Wellsboro. A private graveside service will be held Wednesday morning at St. Peter's Cemetery. Later in the summer, when Covid-19 restrictions are lifted, there will be a memorial service celebrated, time and place to be announced. I SAW AN EAGLE FLY

I saw an eagle fly...
...looking west
toward Cedar Mountain
'bout seven in the morning

Brisk Spring day
Clear, no clouds

I saw an eagle fly...
...effortlessly
riding the currents
Soaring above all
Majestic
Supreme

I saw an eagle fly...
...and that eagle
looked a lot like
