Michael A. Wood Sr., 77, of Holbrook, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2021, in his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born February 21, 1944, in Akron, Ohio, a son of the late Roy and Virginia Ryan Wood of Akron, Ohio.
Michael served in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Crisis. On June 16, 1962, he married Mona Puchi Wood and they were married 58 years.
Michael was a truck driver for Ken Air for 15 years until he retired in 2004. He loved hunting, fishing, trapping, farming and wood working in his spare time.
Michael is survived by his wife, and four children, Mike Wood of Holbrook, Allen (Johna) Wood of Hill Station, Joe Wood of Uniontown, Jessie (Diane) Wood of Holbrook and nephew David Barsody of Waynesburg; 10 grandchildren, Ronnie Wood, Brandon Wood, Becky Wood, Jessie Wood Jr., Alex Wood, Forrest Wood, John Allen Davis (Wood), Allison Wood, Stacie Wood, Lyndsey Wood; and many great-grandchildren; one sister, Sue Barsody of Waynesburg; one brother, Fred (Donna) Spicer of Canonsburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Al Wood and Laurrie Spicer.
Friends will be received from 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 15. Full military honors will be conducted by active-duty United States Navy and Greene County Honor Guard at 2 p.m. in the Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC., 3275 W. Roy Furman Highway, Rogersville, PA 15359. Telephone: 724-499-5181. There will be an additional visitation in the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. with a funeral service immediately following the visitation at 7 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Linda Mankey officiating.
Masks must be worn to attend services.
