Lillian O'Brien Obituary

Lillian Klipple O'Brien died peacefully on January 29, 2021 in Austin, Texas. She was born in Victoria, Texas on April 26, 1929. Predeceased by her husband, Berwick C. O'Brien Jr., she is survived by her sister Helen Kunz (Paul); son Stephen O'Brien and daughter Katherine O'Brien Allen (Greg); grandchildren Chris and Phillip (Brandy) O'Brien and Lillian Allen; great grandchildren Chase and Cash O'Brien; and many nieces and nephews. She will be missed by many other family and friends.

After growing up in College Station, Lillian attended the University of Texas at Austin, where she received her BA in History. She was an elementary school teacher in Houston when she met her future husband at a sailing regatta in Seabrook. They married at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in College Station on August 21, 1954. They settled in Houston where they raised their two children. Her husband's career led them to San Antonio where she lived for forty years. There she was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church.

Lillian loved to garden and was active in her garden club. She was a gourmet cook and loved to entertain. She had an elegant style and dry wit.

A private celebration of Lillian's life will be held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in College Station on June 5, 2021 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to The Assistance League of San Antonio, where Lillian volunteered for many years.
