Ron, nicknamed Shenandoah after a concussion while playing for the Hillcrest Colts. Although our paths never crossed later in life, I remember his humour, dedication to the team and just a great guy.

I met Ron at Lakehead University, a half century ago ... and I still look back fondly on the great times we shared, as students and roommates. Ron had a clever sense of humour and a questioning and inquiring mind ... which gave rise to many, many spirited conversations that lasted well into the night. Ron was friendly, easygoing, and considerate. He was – as the expression goes – "one of the good guys." Mike Bourke, Vancouver
