Webster: August 28, 2021. Went home to heaven in the arms of Jesus with his loving devoted caregivers, Donna and Breven Bell. Predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Irene; parents, Dominic and Rose Marie (Martinelli); 12 siblings. He is survived by his loving children, Barbara Potter of Fort Worth, TX, Donna Bell of Brighton, Daniel of Rome, Italy; grandchildren, Rachel (Issac), Austin (Christine), Mallory (Benny), Andrea, Jaren (Julie) and Breven; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, friends, cats and his lap dog, Brader Anna.
Born Donato, "a gift", he was the 2nd youngest, lived the longest, and was the only one to attend college in Buffalo, NY. He was a Military Policeman and Army Veteran of the Korean War. Dan proposed to Irene after 2 weeks, received 2 engineering degrees from Tri-State College in Angola, IN. He was an electrical engineer who retired from Kodak, taught Basic Home Wiring and Broad Pen Lettering at Schroeder's Continuing Ed, and was a Eucharist Minister at Holy Spirit and Hill Haven Nursing Home. Dan babysat for MOPS at Browncroft Comm. Church for over 20 years, was an avid baseball player, bowler, vegetable gardener. He had a passion for studying Italian, building projects, traveling to TX, Italy, and grandsons' sporting events. He was a community volunteer, Buffalo Bills fan, and devoted family man. Called "Saint Dan," he was kindhearted and served others, and was a special gift to all who were blessed to know him.
Dan and Irene were well known calligraphers, traveled to conventions for over 40 years, business partners, were experts in penmanship, illuminating and broad pen lettering, and President and Vice President of IAMPETH, International Calligraphy Association.
Friends may call Saturday, September 18 from 9:45-10:45AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11AM at St. Joseph's Church, 43 Gebhardt Rd, Penfield. The service will be livestreamed by the church - please see the below link to view. Interment at Oakwood Cemetery.
