Samuel Alexander Obituary

Samuel 'Alec' Alexander, Sr. departed this life on Sunday, August 1, 2021. Son of the late Charles A. Alexander, Sr., and Flavia Fernandez Alexander. Samuel shared a lifelong fruitful marriage with the love of his life, his devoted wife, Lydia Ford Alexander and to this union, they were blessed with five wonderful children, Samuel, Jr. (Camille), Lydia II, Joshua (Anna'), Andre' (Veronica), and Jamar Alexander. Samuel was educated in the Orleans Parish School System and attended Booker T. Washington High School, where he also attained a trade while attending classes in Boot Black (shoemaking) and Printing Vocational School. At an early age, Samuel decided to pursue a career as a Merchant Seaman. During this time he became interested in cooking and baking, then decided to enroll in Sheepshead Bay School of Culinary Arts of New York, where he graduated with honors. In his career, Samuel became Chief Cook while traveling and working as a Merchant Seaman. Samuel Alexander, Sr. was born into the Methodist faith. As an adult, he was baptized and converted into the Baptist faith. He served as a devoted and loyal member of his church until his demise. In addition to his wife and children, Mr. Alexander also leaves to cherish precious memories, twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, three children from a previous union, two Godchildren, as well as a host of other relatives and friends. A private memorial service was held on Friday, August 6, 2021, officiated by Reverend C. Cooper. Please sign online guestbook at www.charbonnetfuneralhome.com.
