Allison Marie Sturgill, born April 16, 1977, passed peacefully in her home on October 17, 2021 with her mother by her side, surrounded by love. For 10 ½ years Allison fought extremely hard against her battle with stage IV metastatic breast cancer. She was a true warrior. New Orleans was her home for 20 years. Allison fit in well with the culture and liveliness the city had to offer. She could walk the French Quarter and everyone knew her name. You could find Allison "dressed to the T" for any of the New Orleans festivals; whether it was Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest, or Decadence (her favorite celebrations). She was the life of the party. After Allison graduated BHS in 1995, she attended the Art Institute of Denver, Colorado. She also went on to attend the University of New Orleans as well as Delgado Community College with her focus in Art. Allison obtained a welding certificate and was a skilled maker of beautiful sculptures and jewelry. Allison loved to paint and created many wonderful masterpieces. Allison was a lover of art, painting, music, dancing, fashion and makeup. She was a talented makeup artist who spent a lot of her time posting gorgeous makeup looks on Instagram. Allison's love of music lead her to learn the talent of being a DJ of house music. Out of all the things Allison loved, she truly was a lover of life. Her colorful personality, witty sense of humor, beauty, and spiciness will live on in all of us who loved and cared about her. She is survived by her loving mother and father Susan Sturgill and Fred Jaeger both of Burlington; her sister Erica Sturgill and nephew Roman Valdivia of Avondale, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Fred and Maria Schwarz, paternal grandfather Don Sturgill and three uncles, David Babcock, Robert Sturgill and Ted Young. According to her wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. A memorial has been established for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The family would like to thank Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice for the care and compassion they showed Allison and the many friends that supported her throughout her battle with cancer.
