March 14, 1954 - October 13, 2021
Mr. Roger Gray Blackburn was born to the late Willie Ray Miller and Daisy Mae Blackburn on March 14, 1954 in Pfafftown, NC. He received his early Christian development at Bethlehem AME Zion Church. He attended the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Public Schools. He joined the United States Army in 1972. After his tour of duty, Roger starting worked for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company for 17 years. He also attended Forsyth Technical Institute and earned his degree in Auto Mechanics. Roger loved to work on cars and going to Drag Races. After leaving Reynolds he started his lawn service and doing odd jobs. He would try to fix whatever and helping people. He was a straightforward person, never biting his tongue and never meeting a stranger. If you needed advice, he would just tell you like it is. Roger loved his family and he was a die hard Washington Redskin fan. Mr. Blackburn leaves to cherish his memories: stepson, Robert (Sophia) Pate; stepdaughter, Immetta Pate Byers (Reginald); sisters: Carol Jean Everhart, Alice Blackburn Conrad, Vera Veronica Blackburn, and Debra Blackburn Wallace; brother, Ronald Thomas; adopted sister, Diann Carter (Harold); three nieces: Jenetta Arnold, LaTonya Blackburn Rice, and Lea Hardy-Wilson; a dear close friend, Dreama Bailey; and a host of nephews and great-nephews; brother-in-law, Sam Conrad (Brenda) and many friends.
