Tadashi Inoshita Obituary

Tadashi Inoshita, 97, of Lodi, passed away on October 9, 2021. Tad was born in Lodi to Yoichi and Yuki Inoshita on August 4, 1924. He was the youngest of five children. Tad attended Live Oak Elementary School and Lodi Union High School, completing three years before being interned with Japanese and Japanese Americans on the West Coast in Gila, Arizona, along with his family. He graduated high school while interned and then drafted into the U.S. Army. Tad served with members of the highly decorated Nisei 100th Infantry Battalion, 442nd Regimental Combat Team on the European front in Italy whose members were awarded the Congressional Gold Medal in 2011. Tad worked at the Sharpe Army Depot for 30 years as a diesel mechanic. He received three Outstanding Performance Awards and a Sustained Superior Performance Award. After retiring from Sharpe Army Depot in 1980, Tad worked for the Lodi Unified School District as a diesel mechanic in the Transportation Department.
Tad is preceded in death by brother, Marion; sisters, Terry and Ruth Inoshita, Helen Nakabayashi; and nephew, Ray Nakabayashi, Jr. Tad is survived by wife, Viola; sons, Larry (Diane Ishimoto) and Robert (Laura); grandchildren, Breana and Brandon.
He was a member of the Nisei VFW Post 8985 in Sacramento, and the 100th Battalion Veterans Club. Tad was a member of the Lodi Buddhist Church.

We are sadden to read of Tad's passing. He was a wonderful neighbor to us in the early years of our marriage. Remembering those years with fondness in our small neighborhood. Our condolences to Viola and family.
