Jimmie Lee Kesler, 86, of Salisbury, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, Tuesday, October 19, 2021. Jimmie was born June 16, 1935 in Rowan County to the late Henry Carr Kesler, Sr. and Julia Shields Kesler. He was also preceded in death by brother, Henry Carr Kesler, Jr. and sisters, Mary Julia Honbarger and Peggy Cassady. He graduated from Rockwell High School in 1953. Jimmie served in the United States Army from 1955-1957 in Korea. He worked for Miller Equipment Company, McCanless Custom Fabrics, and Reynolds Metals Company in Salisbury. He retired from Reynolds Metals Company in 1997 to follow his lifelong dream of being a full time cattle farmer. Jimmie was a lifelong member of Providence United Methodist Church where he served as Church Treasurer, Cemetery Committee, Sunday School Teacher, Trustee, Administration Board and other positions. He was a volunteer firefighter with Liberty Volunteer Fire Department and served on the Board of Directors. Jimmie is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara McCombs Kesler, who he married August 25, 1963. He was a loving father to daughter, Julia Laney and son, Brian Kesler, both of Salisbury. Jimmie is also survived by loving granddaughters, Lauren Kesler and Megan Kesler of Salisbury and Ashlyn Davis (Garrett) of Rockwell; his pride and joy were great-granddaughters, Aaliyah, Aspen and McEmery and great-grandsons, Lucas, Easton and Avery. He is survived by special brother-in-law, Bob Honbarger and his partners in hay making. The family will greet friends and relatives on Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 10:00 - 10:45 am at Providence United Methodist Church. The memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 23, 2021, in the Providence United Methodist Church, Salisbury, NC, with Rev. Aldana W. Allen and Rev. Kevin Honbarger, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 6450 Bringle Ferry Road, Salisbury, NC 28146 or Novant Health Hospice, 612 Mocksville Avenue, Salisbury, NC 28144.
