Esmonde J. Bushey, Jr.
Lake Wales, FL — Esmonde Joseph Bushey, Jr, 76, of Lake Wales, Florida, formerly of Orange, Massachusetts passed away at Lakeland Regional Hospital on Wednesday, November 24, after complications following an accident at his home in Lake Wales. He was born March 1, 1945, in Cambridge, MA, son of the late Esmonde Sr. and Aldia Bushey.
Ez lived in Waltham and Athol Massachusetts during his childhood and graduated from Athol High School in 1963. In 1965, he enlisted in the Air Force where he served until 1968. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He married his wife, Colleen, in July of 1976, and moved to Orange where they purchased the home they lived in until retiring in 2010.
Ez, or Buster, as he was called by his loving family, worked for the University of Massachusetts for 20 years as a plumber. Prior to this he worked for Rutland Heights Hospital and also spent many years working in Athol for Burbank Plumbing. Prior to and after retirement, Ez used his mechanical talents repairing cars and renovating home projects for family and friends in need. His love of helping others was always a priority. He especially enjoyed gardening and staying active while updating their home in Florida. Ez loved spending time with his family and dog, Mikey. Ez was a kind and generous man who will be greatly missed by all.
He leaves his wife of 45 years, Colleen (Kennedy); two daughters, Elizabeth Mallett and husband Tony of Templeton and Victoria Kontoulis and husband Alexandros of Worcester. Two grandsons, Edward and Henry Mallett. He is also survived by a brother and sister; Charles Bushey Sr. and his wife Marie, and Connie Sonn and her significant other, Tom Bryant, and their children David Sonn Jr, Michelle Sonn, Lindsay Scholl, Miranda Bushey, Allyson Leard, and Charles Bushey Jr.
Services will be held on December 15th at 11:00 am at Our Lady Immaculate Church at 192 School Street in Athol, MA. Internment will follow at Silver Lake Cemetery in Athol, MA with a reception following at the Athol American Legion.
