Robert Borberg Obituary

Robert Borberg, 62, of Lake Quivira passed away Sunday, December 18, 2005 at his home. A celebration of Robert's life will be held from 2-4 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 2005 at the Lake Quivira Country Club Clubhouse. Bob was born July 23, 1943 in Kansas City, MO., to Adolph and Celia Borberg. Bob was a Captain for TWA and his passion for flying was second only to his passion for his family. Quiet time was spent hunting birds with his two sons, listening to his favorite jazz or building beautiful furniture for his family and friends. Bob was a member of the National Sports Center for the Disabled, The Airline Pilots Association, and the Professional Ski Instructors Association. Bob was flight instructor, as well as an alumni of the Kansas State basketball program and the National FFA Drum and Bugle Corp. He is survived by his wife Carol, of the home, sons; Bob and David Borberg, mother; Celia Borberg, brother; Charlie Borberg, Grandchildren; Evan, Maureen, Ryan and Anne. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be sent to the Parkinson Foundation of the Hearthland at 913-341-8828. (Arrangements: Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee, 913-631-5566)

Dear Carol,

Gloria and I just learned of Bob's death. We are deeply sorrowful and still live in STL which is why we didn't know. I glanced at an Allied Pilots magazine and discovered the sad news. I have fond memories of our TWA time together and Bob was the best cabinet maker I have known.

Dear Carol and family,

I am saddened to learn of Bob's death. I did not even know that he was ill. My wife's father died of the complications of parkinson's just a year ago, so I have a deep understanding of your recent trials.

Although Bob and I lost contact after I retired in 1999, I often think of him and of the many adventures he and I shared in building houses and in hunting waterfowl and upland birds.

I will miss him.

I knew Bob & the entire family in High School in Smithville, Mo. Celia was my teacher and good friend. Always think of Bob playing the drums and being totally absorbed in music. Although I did not have the pleasure to know him as an adult, I'm quite positive he was a wonderful husband, father & grandfather. May God be with his Mother, family and friends.
