Stephanie Day Obituary

Stephanie M. Day 1949 - 2007 Silicon Valley executive Stephanie M. Day of Aptos, CA, passed away August 6, 2007 after a valiant four-year battle with Inflammatory Breast Cancer. For much of her business career she was a Vice-President of California Microwave, Inc., where she was admired for her capability, her spirit and her role as conscience of the company. She received a Tribute to Women in Industry award, honoring Silicon Valley women for excellence in senior-level positions. While ill, she wrote a series of personal Internet narrations, hoping to spare others some of the uncertainties and frustrations she experienced. Stephanie was a loyal friend with uncompromising integrity, a sense of style, a great heart, and a deep-throated laugh. An avid reader and a collector of fine art, she had style, a zest for life and an infectious positive outlook. She will be greatly missed by Gil, her loving husband of 33 years, sister Chryssie Morris, mother Celeste Wellington, and extended family, colleagues and friends throughout the country. Stephanie Day, the third child of Robert and Celeste Morris of Norfolk, VA, was born August 21, 1949 in Bethesda, MD. She majored in English at San Jose State University, and was proud of her creativity and writing ability. Memorial service will be 2:00-5:00 PM Thursday, August 16, 2007 at Seascape Resort, 1 Seascape Drive, Aptos, CA. In lieu of flowers the family prefers contributions in Stephanie's memory to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 5005 LBJ Fwy., Ste. 250, Dallas, TX 75244.

Stephanie... As a child growing up, I remember the times you and Gil would come over to visit listening to you and my Mom laugh and carrying on. It gave me great comfort to know she had such a wonderful friend. Thank you.

Stephanie was always "my best friend". We had many wonderful times together and I wish you could all see her lovely wedding pictures to Gil which was held at Montalvo. She looked radiant (I was her maid of honor). Cynthia Hamilton (we all knew her as Mary Swetnam of BHS '67) was her bridesmaid. Cynthia is coming down from Oregon to attend Stephanie's Memorial Service.

As Gil said "She always had a smile on her face".

I know she fought a good fight. I loved her with all my heart.

My sympathy to Stephanie's family and colleagues. I am so sorry to learn of her passing. Stephanie and I were high-school and college classmates. She was someone I'd looked forward to seeing at our 40th HS reunion. I shall cherish in memory her kindness, intelligence, and wry humor.
