Jane Edwards Cutrell
SALISBURY - Mrs. Jane Edwards Cutrell, 87, of Salisbury, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at The Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks.
Born July 17, 1925, in Ashland, Ill., to the late Lester C. Edwards and Lorene Hierman Edwards, she was a graduate of Ashland High School Class of 1943.
Mrs. Cutrell worked as a secretary in Chicago, Ill., until moving to Salisbury in 1951. She was a secretary to the contractor who built the W.G. Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury and in 1953 began working as a secretary in Social Work Services at the W.G. Hefner VA Medical Center until her retirement in 1986.
Mrs. Cutrell was a member of Coburn Memorial United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Homemakers Sunday School Class and United Methodist Women. She was a volunteer delivering Meals on Wheels.
Mrs. Cutrell was a charter member of Hudson-Miller-Tatum VFW Auxiliary Post 3006. She was a member of Evergreen Bridge Club and played bridge with several local bridge clubs. She was a former member of several Western Square Dance clubs and camping clubs.
Surviving are her husband, Dr. Clifford G. Cutrell who she married Dec. 18, 1948, in Ashland, Ill.; daughters Vivian Mulkey and husband Robert of Salisbury and Nancy Steen and husband Thomas of Lanham, Md.; brothers Robert Edwards of Lombard, Ill., Don Edwards of Tucson, Ari., and Richard Edwards of Bellingham, Wash.; and sisters Mary Sherden of Palm City, Fla., and Phyllis Nielsen of Tucson, Ari. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Keith Pierce, Brad Mulkey, Michael Steen and Brian Steen; and three great-grandchildren, Allison Pierce, Kristen Hines and Andrew Pierce.
Preceding her in death were her brother, James Edwards; and sisters Carol Rice and Susan Butler.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday (April 20) at Summersett Funeral Home.
Service: A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday (April 21) at Coburn Memorial United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Anna Mandelstamm. Burial will follow at City Memorial Park.
Memorials: May be made to Coburn Memorial United Methodist Church, 901 S. Church St., Salisbury, NC 28144.

My deepest sympathy to Cliff and the family. I knew Jane from the VA and from Bingo which she dearly loved. I considered her a good friend and I will remember her fondly.
